Ooh okay, so the state slot is the savestate itself. We need slot since there is more than one state?

Hello! I have a question. What is exactly a savestate slot? I know what is a state. But the word slot is confusing me.

Ooooh okay, thank you for the answer. I suggest you include a word of two concerning that in a read me somewhere in the Bizhawk folder or even in the firmware folder.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a firmware?

Yeah, as I said, I don't know if it's a good one, I just know that it's not on the gamedb. I noticed the green mark indeed for the other games. ^^

Sorry for the double post, but I can't edit the previous one(By the way, did I do something wrong? I see some stuff have been removed?)) I tried to open GBA game just now, and it said exactly this: "You are missing the needed firmware files to load this Rom Would you like to open the formware manager and configure your firmwares? Yes-No" I proceed to click yes, intrigued. Apparently, I'm missing a bunch of firmware. If I understand well, I could scan, group, or organize, but I'm not sure if I should have to do that after a fresh install, nor what I should do to fix that. I've posted this here, since I think I shouldn't have some missing firmware.(Note that the NES, GBC and the N64 works) By the way, for the previous message, I forgot to note that I did change the profile: I went from TAS profile to casual profile during the "intermission".

1.: I will. 2.: I got this: Hydro Thunder (U) [!] SHA1:925A23A9814D523999E945BA33546FB774F93DB6 MD5:22AAD544C062FB8A2DC6B2DEB32DE188 And I can assure that I see a SMB block coin on the bottom left. Concerning Hydro Thunder, I messed with everything one by one(resetting the setting before moving to the next setting to mess), and none works. I didn't try different combination thought. I figured it would be only one of these thingy that I had to change. Note that it hangs even during the demo.

I just occured this bug. What I did: -Open Bust-a-move 2: arcade edition(Good dump according to Bizhawk) -Record a movie using TAStudio -Save Movie(Save as) -Open other games + Close Bizhawk -Open Bust-a-move 2: Arcade edition ->Open TAStudio ->Attempt to load the movie created. Note that I did not follow exactly what things I shouldn't report, what things I should report.

Hello! I just tried Bizhawk, and dI love it! Good job to all the contributors! I just opened the N64 core with a N64 game, then went to the RAS search. I didn't find the Change count. It was hidden and I had to enlarge the size of it column.(Fresh install, never used it before). Is that normal? EDIT: Alright, I played a game that is not in the gamedb apparently, it's Hydro thunder, for N64. After starting a race, it hangs: the frame counter keeps increasing, as the lag counter too. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's a good dump, nor if it does work on mupen plus. I figured I should at least mention the missing game in the database here. EDIT: Let met mess with the setting before(core, graphics, etc.). I'll write my obserbvations here after

I'd love to see some speed TASes competition. But for prizes of competition, well... Maybe just a mention somewhere?

Sweet! Liked the TAS, but I think you need to exploit the rows a lot more. Doing rows in a row increase dramatically the numbers of star blocks. Doing one only make it negligeable, but doing three rows in a row...

I'll elaborate. When a movie gets low votes, it means the audience wanted it to be better. It means the author either didn't optimize it well, or didn't find enough game-breaking stuff—no matter whether it's even possible in the game. On the other hand, if it gets high votes, it means the audience is satisfied with this movie's optimization and doesn't necessarily want more game-breaking stuff (as, indeed, it can hurt entertainment value). This new understanding actually alleviated a lot of the confusion and disturbance previously induced by tech ratings, and helped me see better what movies are worth trying to improve, if only with regards to the potential increase in ratings (as pointless as that can be).
Quoting that, since I feel that's important. But I think there is still an another dimension: personality. I for example, dislike almost every fighting TAS movies there is on this site(I dislike strongly movies like Marvel vs. Capcom for example, but some I like some specific fighting movies such as Tekkens). If I were to rate Marvel vs. Capcom, even if I feel they are very high technically (and entertainingly, according to the tier it is), I would give a very low rating to that on the entertaining side. I don't vote because I feel it's unfair since I just dislike strongly these kind of games. (I'd rather Combatribes for example. yeah, i dislike the fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom that bad) For the technical side, it's the perfectionism. For example, Kirby and the amazing mirror, 100%, there was a trick that wasn't used because it was noticed too late. Instead of starting over, he just carried on without implementing it just to keep consistency. Other would vote low just because of that (The extreme would be the perfectionists), other would vote accordingly to that, other wouldn't even take account of that. It's the same for the submission votes. After a sub-optimal submission Some threw that the submission were blatantly bad simply because of sub-optimally others were like: "Okay, he did some mistakes, but hey it wasn't that bad." or "It wasn't that bad, but I feel you can improve further by doing X, Y, etc.". Some are just too perfectionist, others are more open. Note that I'm not targeting someone.

I suggest that one of the encodes with the loops fast fowarded will be at least on the description of the movie? Like LotZ MM with the cutscene skip

The earliest you can hover/fly after a jump is the 8th frame unfortunately, but it is still faster in places where you would normally walk a long distance, to jump and cancel your y-velocity by floating for one frame after the 8th that is. If the distance is too short however, your net gain will be lower since your velocity is lower while you are in the air. When I go back to this game eventually, I will calculate exactly how many frames you have to be rolling to make it more worth it than simply walking.
Glad to know this is tested and still a plausible way to go faster in some place(Not a lot of place, sadly).

Epic. :D However, I have some ideas. When you run, did you try to do something like that: 1st frame:Jump 2nd frame: Float 3rd frame: Turbo(Or whatever they are called. Change the frames if it's too early to roll. Instead of running some distance, you're "turboing" by rolling always? Concerning the first, did you try the others slides? Having played that game too often, I know by heart the races. The slides are much faster than running(provided there is no speed pannels) I noticed some things that might be improvable in the first race. The second too. But hey that was epic. Will definitively follow if you do continue, which I hope. :)

Let's not forget S&K has a ring attack which is the same goal as this, almost. :) I support this goal and will vote yes as I was entertained. I hope more of this kind of TAS gets submitted. :)(Not for SMB, but in general)

Jesse (the dude in the scooter) is a character by design to never be able to bail. Ever.
I was talking about the skateboard players. I thought you were too much perpendicular that, from my experience with THPS3,THPS4 and THAW, you should have fell down. I also recall that difficulty change a tiny bit the physics so you bail less often. However, I may be biased as every Tony Hawk's game is different and my memory is not perfect.

At last I'm seeing a TAS of this game! Looks improvable( I think you should try the other path, which is more gliding than the other path you took(You have to jump one time...) Maybe drop from up to the arrow boost you took? Sliding is very fast, but speed arrow is faster if TASing. :o) By the way, did you try also the path on the right? I recall there is some speed arrow there, not sure however. Hope to see a run of this game beating Dark Rayman in the four categories plus the "minigames".
