A temporary ban can go a long way to get the message across, this seems under-utilized.
I am in full gosh darn agreement to this.
Don't we all agree that permanent bans are a bad idea in most cases? Warnings and temporary bans are the best thing ever, like the yellow card in soccer. And even the red card allows you to play again after a few matches. People change, people realise their mistakes and learn from them. Of course as I said once every administrator in the world has the right to run his or her own website as he or she wishes, I often think I would be too good hearted to be a cop... Xkeeper himself was once banned from Sonic Retro, and now he's one of the admins there, likewise Tweaker (another Sonic Retro admin) used to dodge a ban almost a decade ago. Now they're using their second chance to do an excellent job, and Sonic Retro would have missed a lot of useful contributions if their two bans were enforced to be permanent...

This isn't bad, but I didn't like it enough to give it a yes vote, so I went with a meh.

Very impressive. Very impressive. Very impressive. The yes vote is one, but it is worth three.

Very intense, I liked it a lot. And it's short enough to end before it gets repetitive. Too bad that the Youtube encode in the first post is filled with ads, I hope some other encoder can make a clean video and replace it, with all those ads it was extremely hard to see the percentages at the bottom of the screen.

I think adelikat is right, and I'll expand. There are too many variables within a real console, even the room temperature or a slight variation in the voltage supplied can alter the behaviour and the outcome of the game. Not to mention that different revisions of actual console hardware can exist, such as the various Mega Drives / Genesises. The nesbot itself has been seen to take a few attempts to sync even the runs that ended up to sync, so it's not an exact science. While I'd love to see many TASes on real consoles as much as you do, I think it's not going to happen especially when luck manipolation takes place. For trivial TASes you can "waste" 10, 100, 1000 frames in an attempt for it to sync, but I still think it's not worth it. The occasional syncable movie every now and then will still be welcome. (by the way the poll should have a third, "indifferent"/"neutral" option, in my opinion)

For what it's worth, I have to side with gia here, even if I am likely to be the only one. gia, you are not alone.

I like the new improvement. If I get it, you're no longer using the pipe as a cannon, but you walljump your way to outside. Neat.

GIGANTIC yes vote. I couldn't literally stop laughing from the 3vs3 fight onwards.

The scenario proposed by MUGG blends into this other discussion, and in my personal opinion, I would be in favour of allowing passwords in this specific way, since all they do is to skip cutscene time, not unlike what deaths or resets do into other movies. In the end, the TASed levels would be the same, but the resulting movie would be nicer on the eyes. Furthermore if there is a global RNG of some sort you might even be able to manipulate luck by resetting one frame later or one frame sooner. You'd skip only 399 frames from the cutscene instead of 400, but you can have better luck during the level. Given that I never played that game so I don't know if there's actually anything that should be manipulated.

Another issue is that by requiring posts, a person making 5 quick posts in order to "abuse" the system now has an IP trail that clicking a radio dial would not.
The phpBB2 you're running here has been heavily modded so I can't be sure of what I'm going to say, but in a vanilla phpBB2 forum, even IP addresses of poll voters are stored, in the phpbb_vote_voters table, vote_user_ip field. Plus, there is a phpBB2 mod, by TerraFrost (Jim Wigginton), which logs the IP address used to register new accounts. I find it quite useful.

I was about to vote meh because I wasn't liking this very much, but the last minutes alone made me change my mind, so I voted yes. This is one of those cases that is a perfect example of why watching the whole movie is mandatory.

No matter how much I listen to the NSMB main theme, it's one of the best songs ever. Oh, the TAS, right. That's good too. Very good. Gotta low how Mario jumps around. Easy yes vote.

Already done once!
I think the "<_<" in NitroGenesis's post implied he was being sarcastic. Unless you were being sarcastic too and I missed your point.

Also there shouldn't be allowed any voting on the run until at least the amount of time it takes to watch the run after it has been posted.
I once suggested this too, but it wasn't well received. As for the post threshold before a newcomer can vote, I agree with it in general, but I think one post would be enough to differentiate bots and alt accounts from serious newcomers. This, or how they do it on Wikipedia, wait at least 3 days before one can edit semi-protected pages. Maybe a combination of the above (e.g. has made at least 3 posts, AND has been registered for at least a week). P.S.:

It's a big conspiracy, I tell you.
Tell me about it, I started to keep a log of the new posts being announced in irc so I can know when something disappears.

In that case javascript really is the better alternative. Everybody has it, since youtube won't work with out it.
Actually it's quite the other way around, as Youtube *can* work without Javascript (e.g. the embeddable player), but *can't* work without Flash, for obvious reasons. That said, Javascript isn't a good idea either, because I know there are people (including me) who usually surf the Internet with Javascript disabled, to stop all malicious things such as pop-ups and Google ads (but I am still able to view embedded Youtube videos).

Seeing how GIFs have a 256 color limit
You can make an animated GIF with a different specific 256 colours palette per frame; the resulting file size will be obviously bigger, but it will be supported basically everywhere. Animated PNG files as said by blahmoomoo aren't a good idea because they're not a standard. That said, I'm not particularly in favour of animated screenshots in general, they've never been a part of this glorious website and I don't think it's a good idea to break the tradition.

Everyone here knows I love Mario 64, but this hack just doesn't look good. The three Bowser fights are semi-identical to the ones in the original game, and the additional content which is shown isn't really enough in my opinion. Maybe a 100% completion would be interesting enough to deserve a publication, but even then I doubt so. For the mean time, no vote from me.

Neat little movie, maybe a bit repetitive, but I liked it a lot, it's short enough to be entertaining. I like the strategy you used in the first boss fight... if the running animation wasn't enough to make this look like Sonic, you even started rolling all over the place. Definite yes vote.

I remember this game! Thanks for the nostalgia, Halloween Harry is great. Maybe not the most entertaining movie on this website, but hey, it was very well done.

That's correct. I might consider to change my avatar to this, already resized to 100x100 to comply with the site rules: But I don't like to follow fads so I will stick with my usual avatar, even though Robin Hood's hat is awesome, because Robin Hood is awesome.

While I loved the TAS of the full game a lot, I am afraid this one is too similar to that and it doesn't add much more. I liked it, but the most appropriate vote is probably meh. Just out of curiosity, what happens if in the S4 stage you collect the carrot in the tube as the last one? I wonder how Bugs Bunny can dance from within the tube.

I prefer runs with BLJs instead, but this wasn't bad. It's good to see something different for a change sometimes...
