1) Thanks. 2) No, I meant that sometimes there are black bars at the top and at the bottom of the screen, but some other times the image uses the whole height of the screen. I do find amusing that in both Zelda and Mario 64 you move faster by going backwards, though.

I know this is one of those TASes which will be published (and probably starred) almost by default, so my opinion isn't going to change anything, but after watching this whole thing I have to vote meh, as average of a strong yes on the technical side (even though I hate Zelda and I never played ANY Zelda game it is obvious that something weird is going on here) and a strong no on the entertainment side. Too many cutscenes and too little actual action. I do have a couple of general questions since I am not familiar with this game, though 1) what is the green bar at the top left used for? I guess it has something to do with health but I couldn't figure it out, and it decreased while underwater as well, but unlike Mario 64's, it didn't refill itself outside water 2) why does this game keep on randomly changing from letterboxed to fullscreen'd?

With reference to this post which references the "Site Rules" page, it should be noted that the "Forum Rules" link at the top of the forum (right below the private messages thing) links to the now nonexistant "Forum Rules" page and it should be changed to link to the newly updated "Site Rules" page.

I didn't know you like volleyball, maybe one of these days we might TAS some volleyball videogame together. I won't link you to that website though, because there is my home address and phone number in the whois record, and I don't trust you. By the way, I am not stupid, and it is obvious by now that you have something against me, as most of your posts towards me have been hostile. Instead of doing this, and editing/deleting all of my posts, which makes me sad, if you don't like me you have the complete right to ban me right on the spot, as I said in my posts above. You are one of the admins, and therefore your decisions have to be accepted.

This isn't going to be an easy vote from me, as I was torn between yes and meh for some reasons. I've known about your previous submissions which were clearly suboptimal, and I was a bit skeptical when I approached this, but I've been very pleasantly surprised to watch this. The techniques and strategies you used throughout all this run looked very well done and optimised, in particular I like when you hit several badniks in a row and then go around, to collect all the flickies later. Jumps and spindashes seem to do their job. In short, I like this, a lot. The only exception is Gene Gadget but that's because I hate that level, I hope that the level designer who placed so many annoying tubes was fired for that. On the other hand, it is true that, as Sgrunt pointed out, most Act 3s (read most boss fights) can be improved, and even by watching the movie in real time I had the impression that the boss fights were slightly suboptimal, and that maybe you could land more hits in a row. The fact that you don't "beat existing records" is what would lean this submission towards rejections; but given the consistent improvements over your last attempt, and by the fact that I liked 95% of this, in the end I think it's a good idea to vote yes here. There are "known improvements", but this wouldn't be the first case of such a scenario (the most recent one that comes to my mind is that Yoshi 64 movie). If someone will want there can be obsoletions in the future, but it is good to have a starting point for such an important game. Maybe I would have preferred a run which collects all the emeralds, but that's because I have a fetish for 100% Sonic runs, so you can ignore me on this. Last, I approve the choice of the Genesis version over the Saturn version. The Genesis version has better music and faster loading times.

Then I am sorry for misreading your post and for getting carried away; English isn't my first language, and I apologise. Now to hope I won't be banned for arguing with a moderator ;)

And I 100% agree with you. In fact, on my forum there are virtually no bans and we're all friends, the environment is very relaxed compared to here. Maybe I worded my post in a bad way, I'm not saying that being ultra strict is the way to go, but that it's technically in the rights of the owner to do whatever he wants. So if we're not given any explanations, we have to live with it.

Technically, no, because the site owner (e.g. adelikat), as the word implies, literally owns the website. We are being nothing more than guests on HIS server, and we have no given right to be here if he doesn't want to. If you own a website by paying for a server you have the right to turn it into a pure dictatorship if you want to (it's your complete right to ban everyone but you); it's up to the users to decide if they accept the rules as they are or go away. If you think tasvideos' rules are stupid, crazy, or whatever, then don't post here. By posting here you are implicitly stating that you respect the rules and the guys who created them in the first place. This is what roles are for. Some other roles might be kind enough to provide you an explanation even when it wouldn't be due (e.g. Judges saying why they approved/rejected a movie), but no explanation in general is strictly due. If an explanation happens, it's courtesy, not a principle. At least in my opinion. I have my own forum about a German volleyball team on my own server, and I decide who can stay there and who can't. I wrote the rules. If you don't accept them then you're not welcome.

This is a low quality unofficial encode (without subtitles) made for people so they can start watching the new movie until a better encode is prepared by someone else: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17315175/BabyMoses.mkv Of course I confirm my yes vote.

Since you take the time to enable the cannon, do you think you can make use of it for some other star? I know the cannons are usually avoided because you "waste" time talking to the pink bob-ombs, but since in this case you have to do it anyway I wonder if some other star can get a new faster route with the cannon. If this even makes sense.

I only played pokémon blue in my life so I didn't know at all what I was going to watch here. Usually I don't like movies this long so I expected to feel bored halfway through or something. Well I was wrong. I watched this all and I enjoyed every moment of it (except maybe the various "would you like to destroy this rock?", "would you like to surf?", et al). Since even I brought up the discussion about casual viewers being biased against long movies, here you have a yes vote to a long movie from a casual viewer. Oh and the screenshot should be something like this (from the Youtube encode, so not usable): I couldn't help but laugh at the idea of putting a bike into a pocket.

I can't get that video to play, and yes I tried the free player at http://nicoplayer.blog60.fc2.com/?id=sm14747966&w=640&h=480 but all I get is a black screen. Any chance of an unlisted temporary youtube encode?

I love framewars, every time you think the movie is optimal, and it keeps on getting better. A well deserved third yes vote in a row.

Weird, my previous post disappeared for no reason, there might be a problem with the database. However, I voted yes because I liked the improvement over the other movie, since the new trick is quite cool, and this submission looks definitely more optimised.

Now that was unexpected. And funny. It should definitely be included in the new 120-stars run.

I agree that a Star might be too much for Metal Slug 3, but I'd definitely recommend to give it a Moon. Maybe I should have posted this in the Moon thread, but it is related to Star also.

I loved this for some reason. Maybe it's not the best game ever, but it was entertaining and it looks optimal, this is enough for me.

Best Metal Slug ever. I never played Metal Slug 3 (while being familiar with 1 and 2) so everything was a big surprise for me, and I enjoyed every single moment of this. Not sure if this is star-level, but definitely moon-level (as implicit answer to Sgrunt's thread). I suggest a couple of screenshots (taken from the encode, so should be retaken): The robot playing with his robopenis As someone suggested, Fio eating while Marco is being kidnapped. One has to wonder, though, how big is the alien spaceship at the end, since they travel inside it for several minutes on their modules which seemed to be pretty fast. Thanks for the encode and for the torrent, by the way.

This is amazing. Also someone with some time on his hands should update this list since Mario seems to be on a killing spree.

Once again I agree with you about speeding up the playback for long movies. I always find myself watching the 100% Pokémon Red/Blue runs at least at a 5x speed. Yet I voted yes on most of them (if I could), or I will vote yes again once the new "catch them'all" run is complete. Just like I didn't feel like sitting through the 300000 points bonus at the end of Sonic 1 (Game Gear) GHZ1, but I voted yes to that movie as well.

This is exactly what I was trying to say, so I have to agree with you. Sorry if I made things harder since English isn't my first language. Note that I am not against "no" votes by their own, even "yes" votes can be bad if you didn't see a movie and vote "yes" because "it's Final Fantasy / it's Super Mario / it's Mega Man / the author is my friend".
