I remember getting this game with my first CD ROM drive back in the 90s. Was glad to see you tear through the game so fast.

Too slow and repetitive I got bored before the end of the first level.. I do think it's kinda cool that you beat the game with 500 points. Didn't think it was possible, but you did it. In other news, this did use no caps, coins, or cannons.

Sonic just sorta stood there too much. Doesn't make it very entertaining.

This takes me back. I remember playing this at a friends house almost 15 years ago.

Fun little puzzle game. Not so long that it becomes tedious. I think maybe a bit more luck manipulation would make it better, but still a nice movie.

There can be no powerup runs and pacifist runs for Contra, then I don't see why we shouldn't be able to have a similar movie for Castlevania as well. :)
The difference is that Contra wasn't designed to be allow a pacifist run. It completely changes the gameplay and adds to the TAS as the author takes interesting measures to avoid killing foes. Taking no damage in Castlevania takes out all the fun damage boosts and boss murdering glitches. That detracts from the TAS and makes it rather dull. The only interesting bits were manipulating potions and rosaries.

Too arbitrary of a goal. It took out the interesting damage boosts and made some of the boss fights rather long and tedious.

I've been waiting for this run. Loved some of the WIPs I saw. Can't wait for the encode!

Great run. Altough marge does get a little annoying after a while. Still a Yes!

It was a little close to the regular Sonic run, but I really liked the addition of hyper sonic in a lot of areas. Plus I didn't have to wait through all those bonus levels for it. Overall a very nice run.

So this was pretty rad. I don't really like the "don't get the sword until you have to" thing, since it seems arbitrary to me, but whatever. There's not really a better solution. Related to that, how come you don't get the sword at the beginning and then just not use it? Why wait until the end to retrieve the sword? You're already self-imposing the "don't press A until Ganon's room" rule anyway, so why not just self-impose it from the beginning?
It follows the spirit of the old Swordless challenge where you get to Ganon's room without a sword at all. However we would rather see the game completed (instead of just dying or glitching the game to a frozen state). So he grabs the sword at the end and then only uses it to get a complete game. He even refuses to use it to clear the fire at the end.

Some more synchronized turtle shenanigans would have been nice, but overall a wonderful run.

I liked the run. I really did. I thought it was well executed and I almost didn't think it was possible. That said, I really had to vote meh, because the run is too similar to the any% run. The goal seemed a bit arbitrary and offers little that can't be seen in the any% and the warpless run.

Yes, but don't the rules say that you must start from a clean starting point? Exceptions are only made when it's a mode of play that requires a complected save (Like Richter mode)

Is there a reason you don't start with a blank memory card?

Perhaps it would appease everyone if we just maintained separate records for NTSC and PAL runs.

I'm inclined to keep it as our SMB run. It doesn't radically change the route of the game and it does run it faster because of the new glitch. We've changed rom versions before for different games, why does SMB have to be such a sacred cow?

Swordless is a well known challenge from back in the day. This run satisfies the challenge. No sword is used at all until Ganon. Since a sword is required for Ganon, the challenge ends when you get to his room without one. In the interest of brevity, they grab a sword before getting to Ganon. This is just like the 100% Rondo of Blood using the level select cheat code. It allows them to skip having to face the final boss twice to get the 100% ending. Grabbing the sword before Ganon allows for the author of this run to skip having to face Ganon twice (once without a sword to complete the challenge) to get a game ending.
