There's no way I'm downloading that (it's like, 800mb, jeebus). Hopefully this paves the way for someone to do the the Snes9x movie for this site.

Nice vids, thanks. It's sooooo much better to watch NES movies at 60fps, Famtasia is all choppy as hell for me. Plus, FCEU has much better sound and color pallette. I hope someone writes a FMV->FCM conversion utility so I can watch all the movies on the site in a better emu.

I love this game, it was one of my favorites back in the NES days. Shmup + adventure hybrid = genius, and it hasn't been attempted since. Towards the end of the game (area 7 onwards), I always found myself using the Fireball (lv 2/3) exclusively during the shmup corridors. It slices through everything like a hot knife through butter, but it does cost a lot of chips, so I can see where it might not be suitable in a time attack. Oh, and the last boss is a piece of cake - just get right up next to him and use the cutter laser. How you will accomplish this without getting hit remains to be seen, though. Good luck, I'll look forward to the completed version.

The Life spell is an instant-death attack, as is the Exit spell, but the latter gives no EXP or GP. I managed to get the Life spell to work on the first boss of Doom Castle a couple times (the white dragon zombie). 10,000 HP of damage in one shot. :D I'd definitely see if it works on more bosses, since your allies always come equipped with it. There's a bug in the game that makes your allies have the same stats as an ally from a previous game. For instance, if you get to the end with the suped-up Phoebe, reset, and start a new game, Kaeli (or whatever her name is) will have mega-high defense to damage, magic, and status ailments (check the status screen). This reverts to normal by saving and resetting. I could be wrong, but I think the bug carries over to all your allies, just as long as you don't save/reset. That might be something to abuse. As far as the last boss goes, I think once he changes forms a few times, the cure spell attack starts healing him instead of damaging. I can't test it for sure right now, my SNES and monitors are packed away, so just save after every successful damage and be on the lookout for some green numbers popping up. And yes, the Dragon Claw (the most powerful claw) can kill in one hit. With the Life Spell and the claw, I can see most battles ending very quickly.

OmegaFlareX, you mean you weren't laughing and yelling in surprise at the game itself?!
Good point there, but I've owned the Deluxe pack on Saturn for a while so the shock value has worn off a bit. But don't get me wrong, it's still absolutely fucking nuts, and I'm really surprised at how well the music turned out in the SNES version. It's not quite as good as the arcade/Saturn/PS1 games, but Konami did a great job with what they had to work with.

I just watched it. My 2 cents: Good movie, but honestly, I was a lot more impressed with tviks' Gradius III movie, by comparison. He manages to squeeze through all kinds of impossible-looking obstacles, while it seems like you intentionally distance yourself from bullets and whatnot. With tviks' movie, I kept laughing and going "oh shit!", "what the fuck?" "how the hell?", etc. Yours didn't have the same effect. I don't think it was as creative. If you re-submit, take some more risks and really thread some needles, if you know what I mean. I do like the death at the end, though. Nice touch. Oh, and pick a more interesting character, like Michael or the stick-figure guy. Those insane characters are half the reason to play the Paro series.

I bet it would be. Battle speed affects everyone's action gauge (including enemies'), so they'll take turns a lot faster. It should be set to max, IMO since you don't have to worry about reaction time or planning your next move in-game.

I actually like all the wobbling. It makes me laugh. I don't know why, it's just funny and amusing to me. Phil, Genisto, don't listen to any of the haters, keep the sprite convulsions in your replays.
