To stop you having to quintuple post, and so I can post something other than 'good luck bro', if you tick "minor edit" whilst editing a post your edits do not spam IRC. Also; Good luck bro.

...Why are people posting (not even) LP's here? You want to see an LP you go to http://lparchive.org/ not TASvideos. One site is for LPs on is for TASs. Clue is in the title.

Actually, my goal with this TAS was just to show that the game has good TAS potential, in the hope that a more experienced player would give it the treatment it really deserves.
You seem to fit the definition of "a more experienced player" these days. Just say'in.

So, once you post the video with the trick, how long do you think it'll take sonicguitar to beat it in real time?
The length of the video with the trick + the length of his reply video, probably.

I think the human world record for True Area 53 is maxed out or at least very close to perfection.
Ha, too many bosses in this game can be maxed without tools. As for suggested screenshot, I like the Ice Paradise 2 end of level victory pose behind the goal line, on the slide that you can not stand on. Because, It is one of (if not the only(?)) major new tricks that was not in the previous run. Also because it is one of the few screenshots that will have people who have speedrun the game, played the game casually, or possibly even those who have never played the game think; 'how did he do that? ' Its not like the insane speed or new routes can really be shown off in one screen shot.

I still don't see a problem in continuing with the goal "obtains all free-floating rings known to be collectible in each level"... Those rings, as far as we know, with the characters being used, are not collectible.
Agreed. I was under the impression that this was always going to be the case? There are several other levels with unreachable rings, right? I know those rings in Aquatic ruin were thought to be impossible, and that was proved wrong, but there were always going to be others. Seems a waste to stop now. The current goal is entertaining and in my mind it should continue.

Just out of curiosity, would you consider throwing up an extra .vbm file of true area 53, as nitsuja did for nonagression in his Sonic Advance3 run?

A joy to see. Probably my favorite run, perfect play rather than abusing game breaking glitches. Will definitely be a video that I will re watch again and again.

Also, I've look at your latest run, and I have some questions. Which are. 1-Why do you loose frame by moving the cursor in some random way before moving one of your character? (Maybe I'm a bit unclear...) 2-What "RN" stands for, as in the following sentence: "Roy shifts 15 RNs to allow Thany to OHKO a mercenary in ch5 with a crit. "
1; That is to get a better RN. 2; RN=Random Number. The in depth answer is here; http://uk.faqs.ign.com/articles/520/520430p1.html In your example above, before giving Roy a command, the player 'moves the cursor in some random way' 15 times in order to get that crit which kills the mercanary..

There are two encodes of the Sonic1 no zip run (Submission #3378), the first with an audio desync, and a second with that audio desync corrected. I can see visual on the first video, but not the second. Any idea what I missing? I thought my codecs were up to date, but I may be wrong. I am using vlc.

Hello. Just a heads up that the low glitch run of Sonic Advance has seen some nice progress recently if anyone is still interested.
This still going? Was hoping that the recent low glitch Sonic1 run may have offered some motivation. Pardon the double post.

Not watched it all, but did you also get the high score award? The Toad one IIRC?

If you decide to do a max score run instead I think you should use sonic 2 and knuckles since the score attacks as knuckles involve crazy, long combo chains, and are really fun to TAS.
Ugh... I really want to see a Knux score attack... but I really want to see it in S3+K.

I can not believe there is a person who would not rather wait longer and see you finish the game, against you rushing out a WIP for a run that is never finished. Do whatever so long as your having enough fun to do the TAS man. Thats the whole point.

Might not the right place but if we are throwing out 'whats next?' ideas... The no zip rule I imagine would go together with a goal which is not simply any% get to the end asap. And the first one that comes to my mind with that with Sonic would be Sonic CD 100%. Having to find a 'past sign post/Eggman Machine/Hologram projector' I would imagine remove the potential for a lot of zips, which would remove the 'bad criteria' no votes that this run got? (Of course that is assuming a 100% run consists of all Hologram and Eggman machines and the last time stone is collected on the last level, which is a whole different topic.)

There are more traditional run types. Sonic2 still needs a Super Sonic unlocking 100% run doing.

The GBA version also has Luigi who has different mechanics to Mario. I seem to recall there being interest in the recently rejected SMW GBA any% submission topic, in seeing a Luigi run. A run combining the changes of a new character, a new goal (All dragon coins/100%), and an new 'updated' version of the game offers enough variation to the vanilla SMW SNES runs to be worth doing In my mind. Taking those goals individually, into separate runs... Not so much.

I wholeheartedly support the goal choice; will watch the run tomorrow, but I'm sure there's nothing in it that'll prevent me from liking it. Please consider do the same for other Sonic titles (any of them will do).
I could just empty quote this, but I won't, because I want to emphasize how much I wanted to see a run like this. Hoping this inspires other such runs in the same frame of mind as this. TASvideos needs it.
