Ok thanks. I do indeed have that firmware... and this has to be a very basic question but I've trawled through the menus a few times now and the region settings escape me. I thought I recalled doing it before, though I may be think thinking of doing it back in the day in Dega. Mind spelling it out to me?

Apologizes if this is the wrong location for this. I have previously had no problems loading up Sega Master System roms on older versions of Bizhawk (specifically 1.7.0 and 1.13.0). However any attempt to do so on any build from 2.0 up, including the most recent that I know of 2.2.1, I am told I am missing the relevant firmware files. Looking at the firmwares menus in both 2.2.1 and 1.13.0, with my limited knowledge, they look the same. And I assume if I have them for one I have them for the other. I can play other consoles ROMs on 2.2.1 seemingly without issue, testing both genesis and GBA games. The ROM I am currently trying to open is Sonic Chaos, though I've had issues with other Sonic sms roms in the past too. Am I missing something obvious that I'm doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Super Sonic can't get out on his own due to him lacking a jump ability. Hyper Sonic can by dashing upwards. I believe Knuckles can also get enough height to get out by gliding on the boss. Sorry for the confusion. It's just that I was too lazy to rerecord it at the time :p
No worries; cool find!

Glad to see an Advance Coin run is being looked at. Best of luck with it. Just throwing in the thought of starting from a completed game save so you can pick up the Yoshi eggs too?

So I dunno if this is still on your to do list Marzo, (and even if it isn't I imagine youre aware of it) But one of the real time runners, Werster has been looking in to Good future routes and has put together a playlist. For the most part I 'm guessing TAS wise its no big deal but, but for his WW1 route it seems worth posting. Link to video Figured it was worth posting here for the next runners at least.

So... Over the Link to video Last few Link to video days a few videos Link to video Have been posted by Sharu, some one more associated with '06 running. They are all NGplus runs as apposed to EggShuttle. Based of CriticalCyd's comments, who is one of the main real time runners of the game, these ILs do seem to be of a decent quality. So yeah, dunno how many of these he'll do, but worth keeping an eye on.

As a guy who generally prefers low glitch runs, I'd say what's wrong with level wraps in this case? Max rings requires a whole bunch of glitches to achieve its goal. If there is a run to not allow certain glitches, it should be in a specific glitchless run, not in a run where glitches are required to attain the goal in the first place. You've already open pandoras box here, might as well go hog wild.

Ah, thanks for doing a list of actual improvements Challenger. I was planning to look through myself, but got an early desync; I'll be sure to actually fix that knowing there are improvements. It's a no vote fro me I'm afraid as from what little I did see from before the desync, just didn't look like a TAS. Very clear not controlling Sonic the first frame he could be on level one for a start. However, I do hope you keep at it icy. From the sounds of things you sounded like you learned some things on the way on making this, and that another submission you make could make the grade. Edit; Actually, I've rewatched this and completely take back what I said about this not looking like a TAS. Apparently the desync I mentioned had happened a lot earlier than I thought. Sorry for mistake icy.

On a side note, I've been accepted in the school of my dream and started last monday, so next progress are gonna go way slower.
That's great news Gecko! I'm guessing its not going to be the easiest of courses; but I have a hunch you'll kick ass at it! Looking forward to the next update when ever it will be; but of course it can wait, sounds like you've bigger fish to fry for the moment! Best of luck!

Great work on the continued progress Evil and Kaan, and congratulations on getting the run re synced up and getting on to the '& Knuckles' half of the run. You're doing amazing work. There are probably a bunch of far more impressive techniques going on for those more familiar with all the mechanics like you guys are, but one of the things I really found neat from the recent set of videos was the way you utilized Tails swim to get get hight when that's not really an intended thing under water in LB2... What can I say, my tastes are simple! But yeah great stuff all around. Exciting to see kaan as new face, become another good TAS-er of the game too. Looking forward to MH2 and beyond. Don't think you'll hit it next wip, but not too far off the 1million points arbitrary milestone too! Edit; oops, update bottom of last page if anyone missed it

Low glitch: The following are defined as glitches, to be omitted during glitchless runs:
Getting a touch off topic here, despite the topic coming up in the thread... But yeah, something like this has been a hope you'd look into, in whatever form, following seeing your first S3K Knux hundo, and it's goals and the ten seeing how well you can control 2player co-op Sonic+Tails when you started your ring attack. Have not said anything as it's not like you are short of projects, nor, I imagine, requests. But as it's out there, either on Any% or Hyper% you'd have interest from at least me who'd be thrilled to see that. (Obviously there will be many arguments on what 'low glitch' would be; I just feel at the point the game is at now, one is needed; regardless of the definition.)

Ah; nice to see this new Special stage tech implemented into TAS'ed runs. Also surprised to see new, significant, improvements in the standard levels so soon after the previous submission. So, nice work guys.

Ah; oh well, good to have it cleared up on my end at least. Thanks, sorry for the bad tip! Trying to recall where I read it now... Hardly a big deal anyway, with the Yans already being a prime sauce of Virus. You planning on your early Yan fights, till you get the Ore that makes Odin viable, to use similar strats the the videos you put up a couple of years ago?

Guess Dagger is gonna stay for all fights and will get Virus when she hit level 99.
Very minor thing, and you should test this as I have only read it, not done it myself, but; I've heard if a character is level99 and other members of the party are not, the surplus exp goes to the other party members. Like I say, minor, and possibly not even accurate, but saves a few seconds getting Zidane and Dagger (and Quina I guess?) Virus'ed.

Ha! Semi feels like we had this conversation 2 years ago. I'm too used to you knowing everything rather than asking for strats. Well I guess my initial question is regarding AP gain. You going to be able to max everyone's level, max stats and get enough AP while having Zidane and Dagger on the field for 99% of the fights? I think I've already asked this and you said it doesn't work, but just in case... Having added status with Ultima Weapons Sleep added effect couldn't be used to keep Yans asleep after a mug right? Obviously Zidane has to be level 99 at the time for that to be an option. Also 'grats on all the landmarks hit thus far; have been following each one, but, I can only say you're kicking ass so many times!

Ah neat; great to have you back. Any significant differences in route choices since the last run? Outside the Yan tests I believe the last runs final WIP was at the 13 hour mark also?

Yeah, don't sweat it Evil3D; you don't have a deadline for handing in this project! It's a mentally exhausting hobby at times; but best to keep it as a hobby rather than 'work' though. I'm sure the tread will still be here when you're refreshed!

As some one who is just a viewer rather than some one who is/was a TAS'er of the game, I'll throw my 2 cents in... Ideally yes, go back and resync/redo the run and get the currently known max rings. However, at this point I'd rather have a run that is finished with known improvements than this be dropped. Back when yogwog did his max rings run, I thought we'd never see someone doing that again... but happily a few years later it inspired a new set of TAS'ers to do what you're doing today. So I'd rather the current wip upto LB be finished, with known improvements listed. That way, if you guys don't do a redo yourselves, another generation may. But I realize I'm being very pessimistic in this approach; just assuming motivation will die if it's redone from near scratch. I don't know if Evil3D would loose his incredible momentum if this happened. I guess in a variation of, "don't let perfect be the enemy of the good"... Im saying "dont let perfect now, be enemy of the perfect later." I don't really disagree with any of Yogwogs points at all really though. I realise the choice to not get the rings opens up a potential can of worms of a future submission collecting even 1 extra ring and being 10 minutes slower still obsoleting your work. So... yeah; dunno if there is a right answer; but I'll support you what ever way you go.
