Phew, this resync stuff is rough; Feel like I'm holding my breath in panic every time I open this topic now.... like I'm a teenager opening exam results again! Fingers crossed for you both (all?) that you get it to work out. Ha; at the very least Evil3D is Evil3Ding and saving new frames regardless.

I'm just not getting where this hostile tone has just suddenly come from. In this topic at least? There are obvious benefits to using Bizhawk. I'm sure it will completely obsolete Gens for all of it many benefits, and I'm thrilled what the efforts of the Bizhawk team have produced. It's great! However right now; Gens has scripts that so easy to use that a person computer savy lacking as my self can use them no issue. Tools vital for the level Sonic running has reached. Great on your way of calling me an ass and all that; but you're probably right as half of the benefits that you listed of Bizhawk are, whilst surely wondrous, way over my head. Not everyone who TAS's is also a coder. I've heard of C#, is my knowledge of what C# is for example. I mean I'm just baffled. I can believe I'm having an argument with fucking natt of all people. As has been said, he's usually spot on in alot of things; and is some one in my long time posting on the forum is some one I respect as one of the pillars of the community here. For him to start posting in such a condescending dismissive way in a topic that has a bunch of relative newbies in it, newbies that are finding a lot of new tech in such a small amount of time, is weird to me. And then for zeromust follow up with a comment which seem to basically say; 'the code is easy to port over why don't you do it?' Whilst having a title of; Editor / Emulator coder? I mean don't get me wrong; no one has any responsibilities here; TASing and all of its related features are at the end of the day just a hobby. You can do what ever you want. I just find it very counter productive for respected members of the community to come into a topic that has relative newbies, including some one so new to the forums it has yet to be a month, and post something that is the equivalent of; 'lol get new tech n00bs' I mean I feel like a moron for going so off topic on this, but its a response to fucking natt. natt is, or was tasing back in the day.

Minor thing kaan, but just if you are unaware, dehacked made a site specifically for uploading TAS movie files here. Your link works just fine of course; just letting you know.

You're a coder right? Maybe provide Bizhawk with all the tools that are available only on Gens, an emulator that is not preferred but still perfectly acceptable here, for Sonic runners and I am sure they would be thrilled to do so. You can't really TAS Sonic at the level that these guys are doing these days without these tools. I'm not really sure that, especially when very new people to the forums are posting incredible finds, suggesting they should update to the newest emulator because it exists, (and will eventually, inevitability, be the only accepted emulator I admit) when, right now, it means they'll have way fewer resources to TAS Sonic... and could potentially kill their interest in the game. I understand that encouraging people to move on to more accurate and up to date emulation is important... but doing so in such a dismissive way at a bunch of enthusiastic newbies who are making progress in a game not seen like Marzo joined us; feels counter productive. I dunno; my suggestion at the start of this post that you code them up some tools is some BS, but I feel the suggestion they should just get on Bizhawk at this point is some BS too. Anyway! As for the the issue at hand, unless you come up with a fix with out tearing your hair out; I'd go with '3'. There has been a lot 'progress' for lack of a better word, with the run at this point to throw it all away at this point. Give it 5 years and some new thing will have come up. You can fix then with a full re do!

Way late, but grats on the well deserved publication dashjump! As for some content in a post from me for once, did a quick proof of concept run of an IL of SH3 all chao using Knux/Amy. Link to video vbm here. (Its on (E) version though.) Far from optimal of course.

Meant to ask; do you mind posting the .vbm for this again if you still have it to hand?

Cool find Kaan. Can't tell you how happy it make me you guys are not only finding new tech in this well documented game, but combining together as a group to push it too its limits even more. Makes me smile with the cooperative spirit going on. edit; oh and that tech joojamoi is fantastic too. Slipped my mind as I had seen you post it on one of mikes twitch chats. Always meant to get around to relaying the info here.... but even better you've got an account here yourself!

Looking good Challenger. Whilst I usually prefer 100% runs, this game is not one that's worth doing so in in my opinion. Compared to a potential any%, it only changes the core game by very small routing differences in only a third of the levels of the game. The extra content it brings are the incredibly dull special stages, and like you say an extra boss. I'd say, run any% and if you really want to show it off, include the bonus fight in separate links in your submission. (Just getting to that fight/boss via cheats/whatever.) That said, looking forward to seeing your progress regardless of what category you choose to go with. Good Luck!

Oh yeah. Didn't yours end up at like 950K? iirc he'll be getting 555k extra from big rings alone. (111 big rings at 50 rings a piece each worth 100 points?) edit- nope, as Evil 3d points out bellow its 77 big rings, thus it's 385K points from them alone. Not to mention Sonic having extra level ending score tallies for LR2, SS and DE1.

Ha; that's such a damn tease with the lack of a Power move for K+S on RR99-3. Forgot it worked that way, just assumed all of Knux's move be it even a standard jump would break those barriers... but oh well. At the very least maybe something to keep in mind if Tool Assisting linked VBAs for co-op ever becomes a reality. Cool to hear you find the idea interesting. I find ILs a lot more accessible my self as a fun side project. Route99 2 and Toy Kingdom 3 were the other two that jumped to my mind too, based off your any% ILs. Be curious to see who come out on top for the latter considering both Knux and Cream have Sonic beat as lead in any%. Be nice for you to find any use for Cream at this point; obsoleted her in both full game runs now! The other one that came to mind was R99 1 A+S? I know in between your Any% runs you had a route that was superior to what you had for T+S. Not at all familiar with the strats at the mo to know for myself though.

So now the hundo is compete Dashjump, I'm just wondering how many strats you would change if you were under some sort of new game plus conditions, while still grabbing the chao. i.e all teams are available/ Sonic isn't required as lead in the act3s where characters are unlocked. It's always been a question in the back of mind; there are some obvious (At least I assume!) ones like Knux/Amy in Sunset Hill 3. But your pointing out in the very first map on your submission notes that there's a Knux only breakable block in R99 3 made me wonder if there were some slightly obscure team combos could save time in the earlier zones if they were available. Anyway as to add some content to the post that isn't just to satisfy my curiosity; Dashjump recently posted a updated any% run of TS2 thats worth a watch. Link to video

I'd also love to thank KirbyMastah for his groundbreaking Twinkle Snow 2 discovery (which was primarily the motivation for me to complete the TAS) and Paused too for providing some useful ideas.
Ha; you're very welcome! (Even if, if I recall correctly the only potentially useful trick I pointed out to you (Multi jumping for vertical height with Sonics Tag in the water) was made completely obsolete by kirby skipping the whole stage the swine!) Always a pleasure to chat in the thread though. Not got the chance to study all the maps yet (great way of providing commentary though.) but skimmed most and they answer most things I was wondering. Only thing I could say was regarding the Twinkle Snow 1 Key placement you pointed out but didn't get. A possible route could have gone Toy Kingdom boss > Twinkle Snow 3 > team swap to Amy/Sonic > Twinkle Snow 2 > team swap to Tails/Sonic > TS1.... and then as is. Could help with flow slightly. Though agreed, it's hardly a black and white issue, and neither is necessarily 'right'. (I'm more irritated that I had to type out full zone/team names there as both TS and TK could mean very different things in this game!) Curious about a couple of other things while you're fresh with 100%, but they don't relate to this run directly, so I'll post them in the main thread. But 'grats again Dashjump! You've done the game a great service!

Super obvious yes vote. Did wonder after the Twinkle Snow 2 discovery if you'd make the run deathless, but I guess you went in the opposite direction! I'll wait till the commentary is done before pestering you with any other questions I have. But nice to see this completed to such an entertaining as ever level. Grats Dashjump!

Looking great Evil3d! It's probably a basic trick for you guys at this point, but wasn't aware of that move to keep your Bubble Shield when bouncing on spikes.

Hey, no need to apologise; Real life always comes first. Probably a wise choice on the version differences font; was somewhat concerned that the discovery would put you off. Good to hear personally that NTSC is effected by ring count too; checking back I hadn't posted it here, but think I mentioned to kirby at some point that it may have an effect at some level. Wow; wasn't not expecting for you to end that post saying you're hoping for a submission so soon! Yeah, not like it needs to be said; but fingers crossed on the RNG front... at least Sunset Hill boss remains behind you. Thanks for the update as well DJ.

I may be wrong, but after two minutes of skimming, its videos like that make people think TAS'ers are dirty cheats. You're posting on TASvideos... what makes you think that should be on speedrundotcom? As you're here you know what a TAS is You think thats legit? As for its actual merit as a TAS I dunno. It looks decent, but them passing it off as an any% run means I'm really intrested in giving the time of day. Edit; also stop advertising this bullshit. It makes you all but bad as they are.

That's great news! I saw on your latest YouTube video you were hoping for a March release, so I was starting to be concerned that something had gone wrong. Time zones will mean it's unlikely I'll be able to catch the stream but looking forward to catching up on it. Do you intend for the stream going to have audio commentary on it? Anyway; grats on completing the project! I eagerly anticipate your next TAS if you have future plans.

But for things like items on this particular screen or written commentaries, I have to type 'if the framecount is between this and that, then display this text'. That's what takes the longest to do. So your help would be greatly appreciated ^^
Hmm; definitely seems likes something I'd need to get my head around before being able to offer worth while contributions... But if I can manage that; the offer stands!

Obvious yes vote for me. Essentially a more optimised version of an existing run while keeping the variation relevant. As for the distinction of 'no horizontal underflow' I'll admit I'm a touch disappointed with how 'glitchy' this turned out. But we've got to the point now where we can do almost anything in games (as the gdqs have demonstrated) and the distinction between 'legitimate categories' and 'arbitrary' ones has become a quagmire. Whilst I certainly understand the need for the site to weed out tas's of 'whatever' categories to remain as the go to place when it comes to TAS-ing... ...I'm thrilled Evil_3D, just picked some (logical) rules that he was going stick to and produced a great TAS. Hes clearly a skilled Tas'er who makes very entertaining runs, and I'm glad he made this so I could watch this and be entertained..... rather than get caught up in admin nonsense in whether its a real category or not.

That strat to get to the 2nd big ring in MH1 was crazy stupid.... had such a big grin on my face when I figured out what you were doing. Very cool. I'm not sure I see why you grab the Big ring in FB1? Seems it costs yo time to do so, and offers no benefit?

Ah; I wondered if you'd take to the controlling two players thing. Makes me hopeful knowing at some point you could potentially look at some of the other Sonic/Tails categories. Not that you don't already have alot on your plate already looking at your list of projects! edit; Oh, and by the way, nice work on the first half of the 100%. Highlights for me thus far have been some of the boss fights. Entertainingly done as well as being fast.
