Off: I feel a little alone here :$
While I see what you mean with having no replies between your last 3 posts, you shouldn't 'feel alone', I assure you. I, and I'm possitive many others are watching this thread intently. I'm not posting much because all my posts would just be variations of; 'that was bloody brilliant!' I'm watching all the wips you post; but your abilities are way out of my league to have much chance of noticing any improvements. You going back to further optimise 'completed' acts shows some insane dedication and is really encouraging though. And I do appreciate you removing the 'Super' music on your YouTube wip uploads!

Generally speaking, using a non clear SRAM is to show off content a clean one could not. Using it as a time saving feature as a way as you are describing is actively discouraged. In general, as I understand it, published movies on this site a; 'turn the game on for the first time and destroy it' kind of thing. Judges here will ignore un skippable stuff as standard when they review a submission. The thing is, TAS's in general still get a knee jerk reaction of...... Your cheating! Starting from 0 can help with that perception, even if its a little bit.

And thanks Paused for posting the videos. I'm currently midway through Disc 3, still right on schedule for Excalibur II.
My pleasure mate. I'm a big fan of the project, and with how obvious it is you are to get this as perfect as possible I'd hate for something like that pick up outside the Prima Vista Crash site to missed again to not be picked up to say.... Quale' as you had not had enough eyes on the WIPS. Also... I'll preface this with saying I'm not 100% committing to anything, as I have no idea how your program works... and I'm not a tech guy... (I'm just not sure how long of a project I'm suggesting I'm joining!) But I'm very happy to help with your commentated videos if I can. I'll leave the technical stuff to you as I know next to nothing about that kind of thing... But if you need proof reading some of your text or anything of the sort let me know. The idea occurred to me in periods of dead air that small tidbits of trivia could be slotted in. The 9th Pluto Knight that is Blank in Disk 1, or the few screens that are different depending on if the mist is amount for example. Or plot summaries; I realise English isn't your native language... So 'Zidane is actually an Angel of death from another world who helps a guy catch frogs in his off hours' may not translate well. Or anything else! Best of luck going on Gekko!

Looks good :), but some things will be much better let me give you some tips
Ha! The fact you're the one giving the tips out now, when it feel like yesterday you were on the receiving end of them, really highlights how you've come out of nowhere to become such a good TAS'er as you are. Hope 2017 is full of lots of new 'evil3Ds' joining the site.

Version differences are now a thing too. Again found by Kirby. And in true Twitch streamer fashion he has a pastebin to explain all, found here. Long story short; NTSC does not use the updated Ring count mechanics introduced in Advanced 2 while EU/JAP does. And those mechanics just make even the one ring faster so this is kinda huge. There are a handful of other differences (One that makes a few bosses faster in NTSC even) but... kinda feels like the current runs are done on the Beta version of the game.

I have been hoping to see a 'glitchless' run as you described for the longest time. Probably when Sprintgods run first got obsoleted? Been ages since I checked up when things started to get really broken. But yeah, it is something of a niche thing. Edit; Wait missed that Evil 3D had posted his newest wip in here! Excited to see this get going man. Was hoping you would move on to this post your excellent Sonic 2 run. You have improved at TAS so much in such a short time... so can't wait to see you like wise improve Yogwogs run. Looks great so far!

Kirbymastah has found an out of bounds strat in Twinkle Snow 2 that saves a significant amount of time (that will also effect 100%) and Dashjump has done an IL TAS of it here; Link to video (Any chance of seeing the .vbm when you have a sec DJ please?) Saves 21.55 in game seconds over his currently published any% TAS. (24.33 against 45.88.) There would be real time complications due to the need to switch teams back and forth to using Amy, but that is ignored for the most part. A basic, far from optimised demonstration of the 100% route can been seen on one of Kirbys videos here. I'm guessing this potentially can blow the game wide open now, depending on how many 'path swappers' can be found, and skipped. (edit; messed the time comparisons up, was comparing against act3)

I'll emphasise again too that, how Sonic runs are timed, this is a 354 frame improvement. NOT a 3 frame one. Whilst I'm posting, obvious yes vote. Great work Zurggriff, you should be very proud of this run.

Didn't think I was too interested in 3D blast, but really excited at seeing this pushed to its limits like it is. Looking great!

All holes seems a category that would be accepted just fine here. (As well as many other places on the internet.) Can't offer much to help other than encouragement JCBoorgo, as my familiarity with the details of the game are sadly lacking; but looking forward to see how this goes. Best of luck!

Awesome to see people (and so many of you!) looking back into this game; thought it be permanently dead. Wip looks great so far aji; nice work!

It's going to be tough going forward without a reference like this!
Not sure if this will be useful at all as it was rejected for good reason, but there was a previous submission that could be used as a basic reference. Possibly not much better than nothing, but just so you're aware of its existence.

1) Someone should consider looking into a 100% run of this game. (That would be all exits, all Star Coins collected, and all Star Coins spent) Such a run would require different strategies, and showcase other levels
There is a good chance he's way ahead of you. As for the run; easy yes vote. Great work Hartmann.

Yeah, my thoughts on this were; it was technically fantastic. You did a really really great job with pushing the limits to just what is possible. But the presentation was just off. Even as some one who is familiar with your memory manipulation stuff, you had lost me at when SM64 booted up as I felt you had broken the statement that you had made at the start of the block. That nothing had been modified. I mean, I knew you hadn't, by your definition, as I trust you guys. I just felt like; I don't know whats going on and this feels like a con. The realisation that you were running 3 consoles at once was amazing; but for me there was too long a period where there was the question in the back of my mind... are they pulling a trick? Skype stuff was fantastic, as was the twitch chat participation thing. I do wonder why traditional Tool assisted speed runs seem to be absent from the last two showings. IIRC the last two non memory corruption parts of the segments have been shumps? Where there is alot of time to show off.... but next to zero chance to go fast? That said; you lot pushing the boundaries as far as possible, as well as mixing stuff up where you can is great. TAS videos can do amazing things... I just don't know if the standard GDQ viewer could keep up with this. You all did a fantastic job showing off what TAS can do. I just fear you didnt make it relate able. ------------- I dunno, I feel like I'm being overly negative. Like I say; what you did was great. Maybe if you're going to be this smart you can also dumb it down a bit so people like I can understand? quick edit; oh by 'presentation' I mean the script guess; The gang on the couch were great!

No need to apologise; you are doing me a favor after all! Had it set to Backspace as iirc thats what nijutsa had it set to. Just tried again with 's'... the cam hack aspect works; Sonic becomes centered, but the inputs from the movie file just stop. Near immediate edit; Oh wait, as soon as I typed that I figured it out. I had read only mode unchecked. (Having looked into Bizhawk since I asked the original question, gave me the extra small basic experience to deduce what could be wrong on my own; but thanks for the offer Aktan, it was much appreciated.)

I can't really believe I'm arguing this as I'd usually agree with the complaints in a 'completionist' play through... But I'm fine with running through the starter area asap, to count as getting the Muds killed. As they get killed. I can see both sides, for sure. I think the quick no's could be knee jerk reactions though. I guess it's a superplay/speed run argument. I'm fine with either.

Just an update on Dashjumps revisit to his Good ending run; this time, the 3 Sunsethill acts. Link to video About 3 to 4 seconds saved on this zone if my half arsed calculations are correct. Personally hoping that being posted means he's done with the rng manip nightmare that is Sunset hills boss!

Ah, hoped your Arcade run would inspire someone to do a 2player TAS of the console version. That someone being you is even better. Looking forward to seeing how this goes.
