How do I get it to work? I choose import gameshark snapshot, and nothing happens. EDIT: Never mind. I found one that works.

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but does anyone has a sav file I could use? I want to do Mini-Game TASes of Chuckola bounce and the Barrel game, but I don't really want to play the whole game up to that point. It takes a long time to get to Chuckola Bounce.

I think Drill Dozer is a good example of "shouldn't be played on hard mode." You have to beat the game and unlock a code to get hard mode. All hard mode is is you only get one health. It doesn't change the ending. (though you can skip the cutscenes in hard mode) Plus a lot of short cuts in Drill Dozer involve getting hurt, so you lose a lot of stuff when you only have one health.

I'm working on yet another improvement of this game. I'm not finished it yet, but I'm in Speedy Stage at the moment. In total I saved 92 frames in Daffy Stage alone. It would have been 93, but a frame was lost in the bonus countdown since the time bonus was slightly larger. Improvement involved keeping top speed, faster mini boss and boss fights, and fancy boomerang work. I'm always amazed how much time I end up saving in Daffy stage each time. I saved 4 frames in Tweety stage due to better movements. Porky Stage looks a zillion times cooler than before. The boss fights were faster, but lag from the rest of the level made it so I didn't save or lose any time. I did fancier stuff, so it caused more lag. Saved ten frames in Taz stage by running through pretty much no blocks. I did do some new stuff to make it more bearable to watch. At the time of this post, I just finished the room in Speedy stage with the rising lava. The mummy fight and this room are very difficult to optimize. The reason for this is still unclear to me. Something about beating the mummy a certain way will save frames in the next room, but that method of fighting wastes frames in the fight. If you beat the mummy a faster way, it will waste frames in the next room. (One attempt lost 24 frames) I had to redo this fight and next room 12 times to get a result where I saved frames. In the end I saved 7 frames at the mummy and lost 4 frames in the next room, saving 3 frames all together. I'm sure if I were to do it another dozen times, I could save a few more frames, but that room after the mummy gets tedious after the 12th time. There was a cool trick I discovered that involved an injury speed boost at the mummy. It saved 14 frames altogether, but it turned out it was useless. I need 3 health for the rooms after the shifting blocks. With this new trick, I get hurt at the mummy, and hurt after the lava room. There ARE two heart bottles before the block shifting room, but it is impossible to reach the second heart bottle I need to survive the level. There is still one other odd, pure luck needed place in speedy stage that could ruin it or save even more time. It's a crapshoot whether it works or not. Some runs it works, others it doesn't. (like the current published run) I also can't figure out how to manipulate it. EDIT: Quite a few times now in the various runs I've done, I accidentally find a cool glitch. When I try to replicate it, it takes five zillion tries. That's what happened today in Speedy Stage. I'm not going to give it away, or say how many frames it saved, but I'll tell you it saved a quite a lot of time. It's one of those glitches that makes you think "What kind of weird programming caused that?" EDIT 2: This glitch is even bigger than I thought! I found a new way to abuse it that shaved off a huge friggin chunk of time. Look forward to this awesome glitch that makes a long room a LOT shorter.

I didn't like the camera angles as much, but the new routes made it all worth it. Yes Vote.

I'm not judging the whole game here. I just hated the sheer amount of traveling cut scenes. XD To someone who's never played the game before, the end boss just looks like one long cut scene. I love the soundtrack for this game though. After watching the run, I went and listened to a bunch of it on the internet, and it's really great. Plus it's such a huge soundtrack. There's a different song for pretty much every place. Oh, I listened to the commentary until the part where Ness stands behind the waterfall. I stupidly fast forwarded that part and forgot to adjust the commentary, so it started taking about the burp monster about 3 minutes after he was defeated. :P I always wanted to play this game, but never made myself do it. I have trouble making myself play new RPGs. The lyrics I made may sound like I'm bashing the game and the run, but that's not my intension. My brother and I always make insulting words to games songs when we're frustrated, even if we really love the game. Oh, and I was startled to see the name Electrospecter in the game. I thought "So THAT'S where he got that!" (meaning your username)
I'll agree with you that the Skyrunner scenes are exceptionally long, and definitely not suited to a TAS... you should see the Mr. Saturn coffee scene and the Tenda tea scene, haha. And I understand about making insulting words to game songs... in fact, I can usually be found verbally abusing any character from a game where I get frustrated playing! And yeah, this is where my avatar originated from... I am killed in this run. In fact, Halamantariel, when you submit the new run, you should add to the run notes: - Kills a forum member.
Yup. Those UFO scenes were the most painful. But there was so much more. Having to ride the purple dinosaur twice, riding the boat, riding the submarine, riding in all of those cars, and while they weren't traveling cut scenes, there were those band cut scenes. The one with the one lady dancing lasted for like, 3 stinkin minutes or something. O_o Other than that, I did enjoy the run. I do want to play the game sometime, though I don't think I ever will. I only hear good things about it, so I'm sure it would be fun. I just don't want to commit to an RPG.

You cannot comprehend giygas's true form! Seriously, please reserve your judgment for this game until after you've played through it yourself. While the TAS is highly awesome on several levels, it doesn't do the game justice (mostly because the game's dialog isn't really touched upon during the TAS). Also, I just watched this run again about a week ago... Great job on the manipulations.

How exactly would I listen to it? would I just open the movie file and mp3 file at the same time? Also I just watched this run today, and I had never played the game before. To say the least, I hated the endless amount of cut scenes. I also thought the final boss was the stupidest final boss ever. I even made up some lyrics to the fourside theme in frustration. "This run is really long, it is dragging on, the run will never end, even though it says The End, I can't get enough of these, traveling cut scenes." These were made during the run, but the "run will never end" part was made after the end credits where it stays on "The End? for like, 10 friggin seconds.

I'm glad a run with this trick was finally done. I knew about this glitch for a long time, so I'm happy to see it exploited. One question though. At the final boss, would it be faster to stand right in front of the eye and shoot an arrow? Edit: Yes vote.

You know, there was once a similar argument to this on another forum involving the fansub of the Keroro Movie. Someone subbed the movie, but people thought that it was no good because a certain group didn't sub it yet. There was a huge argument about how it sucked and the other groups' would be way better, thus adding tons of pressure. This is sort of happening with this TAS and SL and AKA's TAS. (Only in this case we know it can be improved.) My conclusion of the subbed Keroro movie argument sort of applies to this TAS. This run can simply be used to tide people over who are waiting patiently (or impatiently) for the improved run, just like the people who were waiting for the "improved" Keroro sub. So if you ask me, it should be published as somewhat of a preview for the newer run. For those who don't like it, they/I can just keep the previous run backed up.

I agree that OoT isn't really a speed running game. Either it's too long when you play everything, or it's too dull when too much is skipped. I suppose the main problem I had with this run was that with this route, there are only a couple of really cool tricks. The dungeons provide all sorts of other awesome tricks that are left out in this. I find in some cases that a longer run is better since there can be more tricks to show off and be impressed by. With a short run that skips everything, there's not a whole lot that can impress people. There is the wow factor of skipping something crucial like the door of time, but there are some other hard to do, non crucial things that can be equally impressive when skipped.
Ironically, the only OoT run in the works is a 100% gems/trials run that Bloobiblah is working on, which he doesn't intend to submit. It sounds like you might enjoy that one more (it still skips a fair amount of stuff, AFAIK).
That sounds more my style. 100% runs are my favourites, which is why I've been anxiously waiting for a Majora's Mask 100% TAS, or an improved Mario 64 120 star run. My only problem is that no matter how many zillion times I try to set up Mupen on my computer, no matter what plug-ins I use, It won't function properly. I'm thinking that maybe my computer isn't powerful enough to get it to work. The only way I can see N64 WIPs is if they are put on youtube :(

to watch, it's a great game. But not for speerunning or TASing

I guess my priority for a run isn't quite what the site is all about. I'm more of the "entertainment" kind of watcher, where the site is generally more "speed" oriented. I suppose that's why "Kirby's Dream Course" is my favourite TAS of all time.

Yep. I noticed the connection. I'm just a hilarious kinda guy that way I guess. Many a time I've made people laugh by my poor planning in arguments.

Indeed I am an arrogant jerk. It still doesn't change my opinion. I have high standards when it comes to things I enjoy, and this run didn't meet them. And I'm sure when I submit a new run some day of whatever game, I'll hear all about this comment and the one above. As a side note, I probably sounded even more of an arrogant jerk because of the way people read on the internet. When someone is being rude, people always read it as if the person is yelling. Notice the lack of exclamation points? Despite it being rude and obnoxious, I'm not throwing a huge rage or anything over it. That's just how I explain things. Blunt, and straight to the point. Though that method has gotten me into trouble many times before. People are always saying that you have to be honest, so why is it that you can only be perfectly honest if it's something positive?

So... that's it? Is that seriously the new route for the game? That sucks. I don't mean your run in particular JNX, I mean that's a hidiously stupid boring route in general. You can't possibly tell me that even an optimized run of that route would obsolete the current run right? It was boring, uneventful, and it made no sense what so ever. Again, I don't mean your run in particular. I mean ANY run with that route would suck. Even if a perfectly optimized run with that route was made, I still think it shouldn't be published. MAYBE if it had a seperate category. Call me an arrogant jerk if you want, but it just wasn't fun to watch. (which I DID watch the whole thing) A solid absolutely not vote from me.

Nah, 100% is about getting everything, not using everything. If the game doesn't even record the fact that you did something, then you definitely don't need to do it.
That's good then. Using the Circus Leader mask would be a severe waste of time if you had to do that. Also if you were forced to use the garo mask and get in a garo battle.

It's been a very long time since I played the game, so I can't quite remember. Do you have to get all of the songs to beat the game? By this, I mean without TAS glitches and stuff. If you were to play it normally, would you need them all? If not, would getting them all be part of a 100% definition? And this may be a stupid question, but would you have to use all of the masks for their purpose to count as 100%? Because that would mean an extra run through the Aliens at Romani Ranch just to use the stupid Circus Leader mask. I don't think that should have to be done.

By forum exclusive I just meant that they would only be posted in the forum, and that they would not be published. Doesn't matter if you did them or not. Also, awesome finds. I really should look around youtube more for TASes.

Sorry, but that's not it. I did manage to find the first game I mentioned though, through some serious searching of game screenshots. Turns out the game I was looking for is called "Koi wa Balance - Battle of Lovers", and is for the Bandai Satellaview. Made by Squaresoft, oddly enough. Had no luck with the second game I mentioned though. Perhaps I'm crazy.
It's not Bandai Satellaview. It's stands for Broadcast Satellaview. I was also of the belief it stood for Bandai until a youtube member pointed it out to me. It's a common error. Look under the name section of the page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellaview

I'm surprised you didn't link to the "Excuuuuuuse me Princess!" video. I think the main issue with that Zelda cartoon was that in those days, there wasn't a lot of material to be used in a Zelda cartoon. Also the fact that it looked like it was drawn on sandpaper might have had something to do with it.

Daisy looks scary in that image. I forgot to mention Falco. I don't really like the character himself, but I LOVE his voice in the SNES Star Fox. In fact, that's the ONLY thing I like about Star Fox. Falco: "Bubba win deba!" Falco: "Bubba, bup ba dip."

I can barely get myself to watch more Super Mario World stuff since it's been done so much, but I'll definitely look at this at some point. I only watched the previous Super Demo World run twice, so I probably won't remember anything about it. That's why I like short runs. They are easier to remember what happened.
