I'm very glad you enjoyed it. Though at the current time comparing land mark, I've now saved 71 frames. While killing bad guys is important to reduce lag, I gotta figure out which ones I can skip since the bullets I shoot also cause lag. Oh, and the mid-boss doesn't have it's own music. I'm not sure if the end of level boss has his own music though. You don't get to hear music in the frame advance in VBA, which I always have on. I'm pretty sure I could improve the mid-boss, though even I laughed at the celebratory spin I did. Though if it causes lag, I shouldn't do that. EDIT 2: by the compare runs check point I'm at now I have saved 76 frames. EDIT: Semi-off topic, here is "Trax" in Kirby Super Star. That Hal loves to throw cameos of their own characters into other games they make. Trax in Kirby Super Star Kirby in Arcana Kirby in Pokemon Stadium 2 *edit* (changed to say Pokemon Stadium 2. I forgot the 2 at first) Hyper Zone in Kirby's Dream Land 3 Master Hand and Crazy Hand in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror Lolo and Lala in Kirby's Dream Land (renamed Lololo and Lalala) The brick guy in adventures of Lolo becomeing Blocky in Kirby's Dream Land 2. The special power sound effect in Adventures of Lolo being turned into the 1up sound in the Kirby series.

Stage 1 complete. Though if Lady Sia has taught me anything, it's that you should play every level at least twice before continuing, so I'll probably try this a second time. (Better to redo something before you finish half of the run right?) I'm not gonna post any other WIPs except if I can improve stage one. It would be dumb to show the whole run in WIPs before submitting it. If anyone cares enough to see more WIPs, they can PM me. (though nobody seems to have taken notice to this yet.) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/6727460/newestest%20Trax%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.vbm EDIT: As I suspected, the first part where I didn't know how to turn quickly was majorly improved due to lag reduction. 54 frames to be exact. (from the start to where I chose to end) This means I will have to redo this whole level, which sucks since the boss was very hard to get a good time on, and I was never able to get that time again, and there was one particular part in this level that gave me TONS of trouble. I might try the first bit a few more times though, just to be safe. I figure this is a pretty easy game to TAS, so I'm really gonna take this run seriously. Lag reduction is what this run is all about.

As I mentioned before, I have no plans to run this game. It would require a lot of planning, and I'm no good at that. Since I would only have one (maaaybe two) health tanks, it would be very hard to plan out where to get hit to save time, particularly in the missile level. If I'm just annoying people by posting things without running the game, I'm sorry. I'm just helping the one who does eventually decide to make a run for this game. (whoever that may end up being) I'll probably keep hunting for tricks though. I'm still a rookie, so a big game like Drill Dozer is ambitious. Granted Dream Land 3 and Lady Sia were ambitious, And I would have finished Dream Land 3 if not for desync issues. But when I started redoing my Lady Sia run since it was getting poor ratings in the votes, I was able to improve just the first world by 1461 frames, showing how sloppy it was. If the beginning was that bad, imagine how the later stuff must have been when I was getting tired of the project. Granted I've only played that game a few times though. I currently working on something else anyways. It's a short GB game by HAL called "Trax"

Since I've given up on KDL3, and am stalling Lady Sia, I thought I would take a crack at Trax to keep me busy. I like short GB games. Trax is a game by HAL where you are a little tank that has to shoot it's way through the level without getting blown up. (the tank later becomes an enemy cameo in Kirby Super Star) It's a short game that might not really be TAS-able, but I'm taking a shot, (so to speak) and seeing what the people think. The unfortunate part about TASing this game is that it is pretty much all about lag reduction, making this quite tricky to run. I was a little ways into the run before I discovered you turn faster by repeatedly pressing the (A) button, rather than holding it. This game gets a lot harder in later levels (which there aren't many of) Getting power-ups makes it easier to kill enemies, but it's not worth getting them since they can be out of the way, and the extra bullets you shoot cause tons of lag. Please tell me what you think. (This is my final version of level 1, taken from my last post) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1212506432/My%20%20Retry%20of%20stage%201%20Trax%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.vbm Rom: Trax (U) [!] Emulator used: VBA re-recording 19.3 No Bios Gameboy

Are there any of those gray bricks that only stone/hammer/missile/fireball nearby that stone could be used on?

I voted meh. It was good and all, but the amount of side scrolling levels annoyed me.

Here's an obvious little time saver this is in the Museum Vault level http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1724891102/one%20block2308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Here are a couple strategies for destroying this bunch of blocks quickly. It is in the same room as the other video. I'm not sure which way is ultimately faster though. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/382229858/exper2308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1333703779/exp22308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm Maybe I should try a test run or something since I've been searching for this stuff. My main issue would be getting through all of the text and tutorial crap since you have to press the text at the right time. I tried a test run once before, and had some trouble getting the earliest frame for selecting a file and skipping the title screen, and I didn't get very far after I got through the text. Sadly, I no longer have that file. EDIT! I was able to record me killing the crab guy in two shots. I have no idea how I got it to work though. I know that the upgraded drill isn't anymore powerful than the lower form drill, so that didn't have anything to do with it. Here it is. It IS possible http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1929866463/crab2308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm I also added the obvious jump posted above to the previous page since the player somehow missed it. (Not meaning to sound rude)

This isn't exactly a trick, but it's just me experimenting in a certain room in kuru ruins. It could probably be done faster, but this was just an experiment. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/536054906/fast%20room%2042308%20-%20Drill%20Dozer%20%28U%29.vbm I do still occasionally search for tricks in this game, just not very often anymore. I know for sure that it's possible to kill the crab guy in the Museum vault in two rounds, but I've only ever gotten it to work twice the whole time I've owned the game. This isn't related to this video, but just so people know.

I really liked the Ocariana of Time commentary since it covered a lot of the things that bother my brother and I about the game. The different coloured text, how Link looks like a brain dead moron when he learns a new song, how link doesn't know what anything means during the text when you get a spiritual stone, and a few other things. It was a bit raunchy at times though. I've always liked the idea of commentaries, but the serious kind, like how certain things worked and stuff. Though I must admit that while watching the Link to the Past TAS, I thought of some things that made me laugh. The old guy who gives you the Pegasus boot (Saharashila or something (I'll laugh if I spelled that right)) Said his family passed it down for generations. So his family passed down a moldy old shoe for generations? I also liked how the ocarina was called a flute, and I thought to myself "I'm glad they changed it to Ocarina for the N64. The Legend of Zelda: Flute of Time just doesn't sound as good"

I like how you use the original term "Fireball", since I always say that too.

Something I noticed in the description that bugs me.
"The result is obtained by executing multiple combos simultaneously, building them up to level 13. Combo bonuses are no longer awarded after getting 13 consecutively due to a bug in the game."
You mean Chains. Combos are where you get 4 or more of the same colour to disappear at once. Chains are the x2 x3 x4 things. The description confused me for a second because of that. When someone has time, they should fix that. Just pointing it out.

That was pretty messed up. By that I mean, that was really bizarre and wacky. I really liked it even though I had no idea what the heck happened. I always found the ending of that game to be kinda nasty. I was never able to beat this game, but it's fun to watch. I watch the non glitch version a lot.

This is an ooooooold thread. But since it's been brought back, I will say that this is one of my all time favourite TASes. I played this game like crazy to get all gold medals, and it took years. This run made me laugh a lot, but at a few times it made me say "jerk" to myself on the holes that caused me so much trouble to get in like, three shots, where you would get in one. So I loved this run, but it pissed me off at times. That's the sign of a good TAS when a run seems completely impossible, even more so than other runs. And I agree with what you said. Don't be fooled. This is a VERY hard game. I found it strange how the battle music with Dedede managed to make it into Avalanche and Dream Land 3, since it was an obscure game. It took forever for Kirby to get a real game on SNES. Kirby always seems to get on a system near it's death. Kirby BARELY made it to the NES, and he BARELY made it on the N64. The SNES sequel to Kirby's Star Stacker didn't make it overseas since the SNES was killed earlier than in Japan. I'm amazed that Dream Land 3 even made it since the N64 killed the SNES pretty quickly. I think the only Nintendo Systems Kirby didn't make it onto were the N64 Disc Drive, and the Virtual Boy. (still waiting for Kirby Wii to get finished)

I mean that the course length varies each time you start a new round. You can't manipulate the length during the actual mini game. I might be confusing this with the Surfing game in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, since I know for sure the course length varies on that. Also, I'm glad that you think the same way Raiscan. I played that game like crazy on the cartridge, and my record was 52. My Romani Ranch Ghost balloon Target Practice time was 00:31.41 (always write down your top times/scores. You'll be glad you did.)

The first one seems fake to me. I'd believe it if we saw how he got where he was at the beginning of the video.

While this would just be something people do on the forums, I thought it would be cool to TAS the mini games that don't get played in the actual runs. I tried to just play this game NORMALLY a couple times on the console. I never got past the tutorial since I couldn't figure out how to make the jerk dive under water. (I never had the instruction booklet) I don't actually know anything about this game. I want to watch the SDA run, but 5 hours isn't exactly something I want to sit through if I've never even played the game before. And if it's anywhere near as glitchy as Mario 64, I don't think a TAS would be a good choice for a first viewing. Though from what I hear, it's a good game. It's seems I'm one of the very few people on earth that really liked the DK rap. I had an mp3 of it once that didn't have any of the back groung Sound effects. It's an awesome song.

*reads encoder guidelines* Oh, I get it now. Yeah, that's pretty important. Did people actually do that at first? Cause that's pretty lame of them, cutting out the evidence.

Cool. I'll do that next time. So the video was pretty dang awesome! A couple times I actually said "What the Cr*p?!" The trick for skipping all that swimming was awesome. It also looks like you made better use of wall kicks, which always look cool. Can't wait to see the rest! But I don't know if I'll watch any other WIPs, just to keep the amount of fun I have while watching the finished run at full. (assuming it gets finished)

Thank you very, very much. I can never do anything with N64 emulators without wanting to tear clumps of hair out in anger. I highly admire anyone who can make a TAS on one of those things. *goes to watch video*

well, I don't even have the slightest clue what version of the emulator to use, or what rom to use. I sort of need some details on how to run this particular WIP.

Being the first post on a new page, I am (unofficially) required to remind people: "Reminder!: You can't go through the key door". It sounds like this run is going to rock! I want to try and set it up so I can watch it. There is one thing that's always bugged me about Mario 64 TASes, though it's not really important. When the Lakutu is flying at the beginning, the "Mario 64 TAS" info comes up. That's cool. but I always thought that the "This is a tool assisted video" message should pop up during this opening scene as well. It would sort of give it an Opening credits feeling. Make it pop up somewhere round here to fit with the music. You know, right when the second bit of music starts. It's just always felt like it should pop up there. Also, I have never tried to set up the n64 emulator before, so if someone can give me specific details on which plug-ins and which emulator to download for this game, I would be very thankful.
