I just wondered if anybody likes making sprites. I'm fairly new at it, and have only really made a few good ones. I know people here like video games, (it seems the NES more than anything else) so I thought that maybe some people had got into this type of project. This is the one I'm the most proud of. It was made to be in the style of a Kirby's Dream Land 3 sprite. It's one of my original characters, and my favourite one at that. Though she doesn't normally have that bump on her cheek. She usually just a circle head. (Her name is Hairu) I have also put the non sprite version to compare how much better it looks this way. Here's where I learned about spriting. It's an awesome tutorial site with lots of detail. It uses Sonic sprites as examples. http://ssn.sonicstadium.org/

It almost sounds as if someone had downloaded a version of the song that had Japanese singers singing to it, and just distorted it. Btw, there really are nintendo songs like that on CDs. (minus distortion) The Japanese Kirby's Adventure Soundtrack had several of these types of songs, most of which were really good. The Butter Buildings and Yogurt Yard themes were really good with the lyrics. I could send a link if anyone cares to hear them, but since Kirby fans seem to be very scarce and rare, I doubt anyone would care to hear them. (Poor Kirby. He's so much more popular in Japan)

I am Canadian too. I'm in B.C. On the topic of poking fun at your country, quite some time ago I wrote the most stereotypical things about Canada sung to the last verse of Oh Canada. It's sort of an "other countries" knowledge of Canada. (I hope that the people here will have a sense of humour and not kill me for this) *Sung to the last verse of Oh Canada* "Maaaple Syruuup, C.N Toweer, Wayne Gretsky, beavers, loonies, Siiiiilent UUUUUs, it's veeeery cold, and we live iiiiin iiiigloooos!" You could also substitute "Silent "UUUUs" for "Caribou"

I THOUGHT so! That's what I thought it was, but I wasn't 100% sure. Just needed to be sure or it was gonna bug me the rest of the day. I'm glad to see that other people like that game. It's a very good game.

What was that second one in the post above from? It sounds very familiar. It must have been from an NES game. Right?

The most part was ok, I enjoyed Bugs' level. Well made tool-assisted tho. Yes vote.
Yes, the Bugs Level was the most impressive. If I were to ever make another run of this, I think this level would be the hardest to improve, or even tie time wise.

Hmm. That's a word I always seem to screw up no matter how many times I'm corrected.

The ending credits to Yoshi's Island is still the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard anywhere. I was really pissed off that it was cut out of the TAS. The second most beautiful piece of music was from an anime, but it was the Kirby anime, (Hoshi no Kaabii) so it sort of counts as video game related. (but not really)

I must congraturate you on this run since it may have been the most enjoyable run I've seen on the site thus far. (I didn't even know there was a previous run of this) This was always my favourite 2 player game, but I hadn't played it, or even seen it in years! It was really enjoyable since it was very nostalgic. I had forgotten how awesome the music in Fat Cat's level was. The first thing I liked about this run was how active both characters were. one wasn't just walking along the whole time. Both characters were picking up boxes and clobbering every bad guy in sight. There was lots to look at. The second thing I liked about this run was the really evil abusing of the balloons. Very clever indeed. The thing I enjoyed the most about this run though was the end of level mini game scenes. The one where the caught each other's blocks and then smacked each other with them literally made me burst out laughing. They were so well made that you would think they were cut scenes at the end of each level. The strategies used were also very impressive. 5 second boss fights, short cuts, great maneuvers. Definitely very well planned out I most definitely give this run a yes vote for being the most nostalgic, hilarious, and enjoyable run I've seen on this site to date. Well Done.

look, can we please just get rid of/lock this topic? I get it. It was a stupid idea and my guy is stupid. We can leave it at that? It's very frustrating to have the topic already settled as being pointless and stupid, but still have people criticizing the idea. Also, it was never my "intent" for him to be THE mascot. It was an example! I thought that people might want to be creative and make something original to represent the site rather than just have Mario. So please forgive me for bringing up the stupid idea in the first place. I am a stupid person. Though I'm sure people will still feel it nessesary to pick on the idea. From now on, this topic doesn't exist anymore

This was definately way better than the Super Mario World one. I liked how you played some of the levels the other run didn't. I only part I didn't enjoy was where you kept bouncing on the fireballs in the one dungeon with tanooki. I love how it says "kind raccoon". instead of Tanooki. Tanookis aren't exactly censor friendly. There were several glitches that made me laugh and say "what the hell?!" I liked the trick in the piranha plant levels where you went down that pipe. I loved this run. Although it was a lot slower, I think I enjoyed this run a LOT more than the published warpless Super Mario Bros 3. Yes vote from me.

I check this site every day for something new, and when I see something like this, I get disappointed. Please run some other fucking game.
Oh well. I must admit, I too was annoyed in the same way as you at first, though not quite as extreme. Though I already knew that 2 seconds is actually quite a big achievement. Two FULL seconds. It looks silly that way, but it is quite good. It may not be impressive to those who have never tried to get fast times on things though. Take for example my very first run. (Submitted to speeddemos) For years I just could not beat my greatest time on the Gourmet Race Course 3 in Kirby Super Star. Whenever I was able to beat it by one millisecond, I was celebrating, and I could only ever beat it by one each time I beat my score. Imagine how amazing it was to me when I discovered a trick that saved a FULL SECOND! It was then that I had really got into speedruns. It was my very first submitted run which had beat the old speeddemos one by nearly 3 seconds. I was so proud. After that, I still had some frustration about the small improvement runs, but I was more aware at how big it must have felt to the author. My example of frustration over not seeing a run I wanted was Kirby's Dream Land 3. It's my favourite Kirby game, so I was annoyed it had never been done. So I eventually decided that if nobody else would do it, I would do it myself. Once I investigated it, it turned out that the Emulator had transparency errors for Kirby's Dream Land 3. By this I mean that things that should be "see through", were not. This prevented being able to see Kirby in under water levels since the water is transparent. Fortunately, a new version that fixed this bug was released when I started the run. Granted, I have stopped working on it, but it was a great experience, and a great learning stage. I have since posted a run of a different game that's being voted on. So it may not just be lack of interest, there may be legitimate reasons why the runs you want aren't being made. I think the best thing you could do is to figure out how to work the emulators and stuff, and start a run of your own. Don't rely on others all the time. If you're that determined to see a run, start a run of your own. You never know, it may just spark someone's interest enough for them to start a run too. But even if that happens, you shouldn't just drop the run since someone else is doing it. Competition is a key to a good final run. Share your tricks with others, help each other make the best run possible. That is what the true spirit of the site should be.

I voted meh. It had a lot of really funny parts that I laughed at, and even went "NEAT!" a couple times. I loved bouncing off the trampoline in the air to get the three up. I also liked how you got a ton of coins by getting a shell between two glitched coin boxes. But at the flying with yoshi bit, I said out loud "yeah we know" It was fun, but I don't think it deserves a yes to be published. Certainly an awesome forum exclusive though.

Yay. More use of this meme. I loved the youtube video with the Excuuuuuuuuuse me princess montage. But as for smash bros., wouldn't it be really hard to make? N64 runs need the key board for the stick, and there's lots of other input you need at the same time. wouldn't you need to press more than three keys?

Was previously about a mascot for the site, but everyone hated the idea. Seems to have spiraled into a topic about meth. This topic does not exist anymore [EDIT by Bisqwit: Restored topic title. Do NOT go rewriting history on these boards. What has a topic called "meth?" to have anything to do with the Sites forum? Leave that kind of decisions to the moderators ― Do not play a moderator yourself. Locking this thread. Since you also edited your own posts to delete content from them, I deleted the posts alltogether. The next time you do that, I will halve your post count.]

watched it, and definately a yes vote. My favourite part was the first bowser area. I loved that since the camera angle made it great. Though I still think bowser looks like a hamster in this game the way he has his arms. I guess nintendo was going for a T-rex type look for him. Mario's a ninja in overalls.

This was one of my favourite parts in the movie. (granted it didn't happen quite like this) The guy in the picture is one of my characters dressed as link.

I sincerely hope that the people here are the kind who can take a joke. Be aware, that I voted yes for this video since the glitches were cool, so this image is not my opinion. It's a joke that I hope people will not get angry about.

There are two levels in Lady Sia that when played on a re-record version of VBA, have a big line through them. It works fine in the non re-records, so that's weird. I made the run through the level, and it actually isn't that bad since you aren't really looking at it that much. Here's the video. Tell me your opinions on the line being there. This is just one new level. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/42119561/Copy%20%288%29%20of%20new-Lady%20Sia%20%28U%29%20%28M6%29%20%5B%21%5D.vbm The boss fight looks unoptimized, but if you start charging your magic before he thrusts his trident up, he wont do it. You have to wait till he thrusts it before you can charge.
