Phil, I don't think they ever pretended to be doing a first viewing.
Indeed but that's quite useful for newcomers. Now we are watching them because we are curious but what if they would do all movies in one shot, would you watch them all? Maybe not. If such video would have been done during Morimoto's SMB3 movie confusion whether it was legit or AVI edited, I think it would have reduced, later, the hatred toward TASes there was in 2004-2005. But these videos other goal is also for French people that don't understand English and thus can't read the submission text, movie description and forum for information.

Yes, I remember they are saying it 2-3 times in the movie. I don't remember there was a 1 month verfication. I don't know where they took that info.

I never said the opposite.

Also it's inopropiate to "pause" a run just to explain something. As it would irratate many viewers who just want to watch the run or critique on the commentary itself.
People who just want to watch the run, they usually just watch the run. I don't know if you understand French well, but what I do understand is that these videos are introducing people to TASes and explain what makes them so interesting and such.

Sorry in advance for writing in French.

In a private discussion, Deign told me that most of the time, the uses of pause really saves real time. There were rare instances that pausing is used to only save in-game time. So, it's a well planned run overall.

Of course it was expected that the pause would be used for manipulating things. But as much as that just to reduce the in-game timer which most people don't care, NO. Yes, the pause saves you some time but using it excessively also cost you some time.

I have played Snes 9x v1.51 before on a Windows, but my main problem is that I own a mac. As of my knowledge, there are no versions of Snes9x for Mac that contain frame advance. If anyone knows where one would be that works well or some could develop one, please tell me.
Your best chance of getting it is to politely ask zones, snes9x dev and mac user, if he wants to do so.

I think one of the improvements is to lessen the uses of pause. Most of the time it's just to reduce the in-game timer. Yes, it's some valid goal but... I really think it reduces the entertainment value. So thumbs down for that. I don't know if it counts as an easter egg. At Mysidia, after Rubicant fight, a white mage is going through a black mage. Nice glitch found for the 4 elementals fight. Also the extra exp glitch is cool. I felt the uses of Reset is bad as I don't consider it as part of controller but it's not used so often as Deign told me. I don't have any problems with that.

I'm wondering if a run of FFIV Advance would be any different.
It would be a completely different TAS. Not only would it be much more like the japanese version (due to the addition of all the missing items and abilities), but it would also be longer than either of the US or Japanese versions. I found that the RNG was a lot less flexible than the SNES versions. Another thing about the GBA version is that it does not have any of the 4 good glitches (that i'm aware of). Just being required to do the sealed cave would add a good 20 minutes or so.
I agree it is a completely different TAS. I've made a test run that ends after Cecil become paladin. But I need to restart it, I didn't use the quicksave as I thought it would reduce the entertainment value but then I've decided to restart the whole movie and using it after asking people if it would be good to do so. But I disagree it would be slower. I have estimated it would be also ~ 3hours. The main reasons is that you can walk faster and the fights are shorter due to the double attacks bugs and some abilities that aren't in the Snes US version. Also by taking Palom with his Bluff ability at the end of the game, if it doesn't cost too much time, it would be beneful and I hope it will prevent the extra leveling up. Yes, the RNG is not so flexible but in my test run, I still manage to do something good. I've started my run almost 2 weeks after the game being released then I realized that the game is more different that I had imagined first. New items and items in treasures, boxes etc... aren't no more the same. But now it's been ~3 years there should be more complete guides and maybe new bugs discovered. After watching this movie, I got the feeling I should work NOW on it ;D but I must finish the runs I'm working now. I will study the game further more and work on a publishable version. So, a yes vote for this one.

The last time I have watched a run of this game, it was Zurreco's or nitsuja's version. Nice run but I have a few questions.

This was my first question. My 2nd question is: At the boss where you use the fireman suit, I think it's level 3 or something, there was some missed shots. Are they intentional or something else? Also, when Mickey is going downhill with his normal suit, doesn't he move faster than jumping? Because I saw one instance where you jump instead of letting him run.

I am happy that such thing can't happen soon. What would be a movie without its part of humanity? And what would be the goal of this site and its active community if all movies could be made "perfectly"? It would be pointless and the site would die. I am not dreaming of such tools. In fact, I am dreaming it WON'T exist for the sake of future generations of tasers.

I disagree with the fact that a programmer is the best guy to make TASes but well, in most cases, it's indeed true. Here are my personal thoughts of a "Perfect" TASer. 1. He can TAS any games. Any genre. 2. He is persevering. 3. He does have lot of free time. 4. He can understand the logic of a game. (Illogic included). 5. He is not afraid of restarting a project after some tricks discovered and does not get easily discouraged by restarting it. 6. "Here is a main problem of many TASers and a mix of point 2 and 5. " He is not in a hurry of finishing a movie to submit it as soon as possible. Hurrying=Making errors. Well, I know I'm missing an other one but I think the most important ones are there.

I didn't notice this improved version until today. I've watched it and I don't see errors like in your previous version. Nice run!

I've just watched it. The run is fast paced, the bugs were abused nicely imo even though the x-ray scope bug was long to perform but the result was interesting. I didn't watch the any% run but the real % only. I could say that one is even more interesting than the previous real% run. I didn't watch many SM runs so far, it's been long time that I was waiting a sub 30 minutes run like this because I prefer short runs and now there is one. I congratulate both authors(And other people involved) for their efforts on this run.

I think it should obsolete both any and real % runs. Because it beats them in their goals.

It looks much more optimized. There were some weird moves that were suspect in latest movies that aren't in this one. Voting yes. P.S. It would be nice that you write how much faster is this movie compared to precedent one in your submission text.

Thank you but... damn you, I already knew that one, it was one of our surprise that will be included in our submitted run. I found that trick some monthes ago. If you find some other useful trick, I am open. P.S. That trick is indeed useful. We haven't reached A-1 but I already knew it will save a couple of seconds if done optimizedly. I also found some other weird bugs. I try to keep a movie of any bugs that won't be in the run. Edit: Oh while thinking of that, you seems interested to work in that project? I am always open at people interested in same project as me. Project doesn't seem to have progressed a lot lately. While it's true, I admit that I have restarted from stage 1 due to new small timesaver tricks that I found and I'm retesting some things since editing a movie for that game is impossible due to desyncronization because of some random factor.

Well, in fact the glitch is useless but still cool. However, in both videos, the tarzan is used twice like if it was the only way to do the glitch. The invincibility is due to some sort of bug at some area and doing the tarzan only make it last longer. Here is a video that shows where is that area. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/get/137380066/Invincibility%20area%20stage%203.smv

So, since it was fixed in .15, like I said, can you use the same fix and apply it for the current version? Edit: One other thing that annoys me is the fceu.cfg file. Normally, such file should be easily editable. But NO. It's like if you need an hex-editor to edit it. :S

I was expecting this run for a long time. The run in itself is not bad. I would have hoped the author to find some weird glitche(s) to make the run more WOAH. I still give a yes vote.

Nice thing on -2. I thought due to the physic in water stage we couldn't do it. In fact, I didn't tested many things. But I admit I was in a hurry when I did my precedent movie and didn't take my time to test much things. So, nice improvement. The negative part is those annoyings and too much bacwards jumpings. One question: WHY?
