Useful stuff there, P.JBoy. Thanks for sharing! Does anyone have any route changes that could benefit the 100% run? One idea I had was to delay getting the r-tank and the 3 missile containers in the area where the first super missile pack is collected until the green binstar clean up session. This would allow samus to use power bombs on the wall behind the rtank chozo statue when getting the missile tanks. It might prove faster for in-game purposes. I also had the idea of getting the charge beam early. Though it would only be beneficial if the wave beam was also collected. It would allow wrap around shots in the WS attic, croco area, and the landing site when going through the acid gauntlet en route to the etank. Getting the charge beam early costs like 5 seconds. Getting the wave beam early would be nice, but I am really struggling to see how it would save any time. It would require much more time at the pipe bugs in order to survive the heated rooms before and after the wave beam. Also, the way the current run does it is very seamless, as dropping down from the speed booster area and going back up is another 5 seconds lost. The main time saved with having the wave beam would be on the gold torizo and maybe 1 second saved on draygon+botwoon. The wave gates can all be open almost as fast using missiles now, so I cannot think of any other reason for having the wave beam early. I would like to hear what other people have to say on possible changes, or comments on the above mentioned stuff.
Funny I thought of the exact same think for console, but then I realized we would be able to do because the Wrecked Ship can be a bitch early on. So I never tested it myself but, for TAS conditions that would be very interesting it if it proves to be faster!!!! Yea Wave Beam early might save time. Would it be possible to delay Crocomire and make it through the Wreaked Ship without the Varia Suit? If so you can delay Kraid and Crocomire and kill them with Plasma Beam. Cpadolfs route was really amazing its hard to even think about ways of improving it. His execution is still great to this day I would love to see how much it can be improved!!!! Edit: Never mind I forgot about all the Grapple Beam Rape Cpadolf does!!!! Delaying Varia would be interesting and possibly faster if its even possible.

Something else I thought would be cool, would be if we use the ridley KO grab to trigger a free shinespark. It would require doing a CF right before he dies, but getting a free shinespark would save over 85 frames on the time spent charging one up in the etank room.
I didn't even know you could do that. Can you get charge in that room and then let him grab you for a free Shine Spark?

I knew it before hand actually. I just tried it one day because I was looking for possible uses for Wrap Around Glitches on console and was like oh that's interesting. I never shared it though because I didn't think it would be useful for TASers. Now, I wonder it they knew it before hand or not. There is another one you can do that Quietus from Metroid2002 found in Blue Brinstar after the invisible bridge that's really cool. Could be cool to do in a 100% but, its not necessary for TASing though.

I completely agree with you Reeve!!!! Every Super Metroid TAS from now on should be done as a Team!!!!!!!! So come on Saturn, Taco, Kriole, Hero, Cpadolf and hopefully Namespoofer (if anyone can get a hold of him) get together and give the fans what they want. That would be amazing if that whole group teamed up. I'd add JXQ but, he said he gave up TASing this game a long time ago. I would hope he joins the group too but, that's his decision. That would be the biggest Super Group TAS Videos has ever seen!!!!!!!

I don't see the harm at all in popular games having multiple categories at all. Super Metriod is one of the top ten Greatest GAMES OF ALL TIME!!!!! Seriously I don't find any enjoyment in watching a TAS of a bad game. This game was great before glitches were found. Now the game is in a league of its own as far as complexity in the amount of glitches which gave the game even more depth and made it even greater. Arguably the greatest game ever made. Alright its the greatest game ever made (at least in my opinion)!!!! As a speed runner of this game I truly appreciate every TAS of it. Not only are TAS' of this game extremely entertaining but, they've also helped me understand the game more and made me say "I wonder if I can do that on console?". There are many reasons why I think this TAS should be published. First off its the most difficult challenge in the game. You may say then why not just a Suitless Run (That might be very entertaining actually) isn't that the same difficulty? The thing that separates a RBO from a Suitless Run is you can't power Samus up with the Plasma Beam making Ridley a very formidable boss. Thus making it the most difficult run in the game. I think it should be published because not only is it entertaining but, it uses tricks and even areas that you don't normally see in a run, which is awesome!!!!!! This run was amazing and you guys did such a great job in making it!!! I really appreciate you guys taking the time and effort in making it, thank you!!! I hope there are more collaborative efforts like this in the future. I hope the next project is the 100% and every Super Metroid TASer gets in on it. I could say more but, I'm lazy. So thank you again and I hope TAS Videos publishes this run because it has TAS of the year written all over it!!!!!!!!

Really!? I went about 20 pages back and couldn't find it so I gave up. It must be pretty old but, I'd still love to see it. Edit: Never mind I found it by searching all of Kriole's posts. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/638437926/RBO%20v4.smv

Wow that's awesome I hope you guys finish before 2012 begins!!! I never actually seen your old RBO can you post an .smv of it? I like having a them to look back on in reference. As a runner of the game you never know what you might find.

So FractalFusion if you don't mind me asking how much progress have you made on the TAS and how many frames ahead are you from the published TAS?

Judging from where you guys are now I'm guessing Lower Norfair item drops must have taken a long time to optimize. Its gonna be fun watching you guys murder rooms filled with enemies and collect drops without slowing down much at all. Like the room before Ridley for some reason it just looks so sick. BTW I'm sure you guys will literally walk through Maridia no problem. Anyway Great Job so far guys, I can't wait to see the run!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather see a 100% Map Completion with all items then starting from 0% but, I wouldn't mind seeing either one honestly. It would take a lot of planning to say the least then the fact they would have to do the TAS itself. I honestly don't think anyone would actually pick up the project because its too much work. Anyway I wonder how much progress Hero, Taco and Kriole made in the RBO.

Thanks for posting that Moozooh!!! I wish it was a 100% item collection, but Ceres was really interesting. I never knew Power Bombs destroyed the Doors in Ceres. Power Bombing might be faster in first steam room on the way there possibly on the way back as well for all I know. I want more damn it, MORE!!!!!!!!

Yea I know Cpadolf's run is actually quite ridiculous even to today's standards!!! I hope the person who plans on improving it focuses on in-game time instead of real-time. 33 really?! That would be amazing if its possible!!! Now that I think about it. The X-Ray Glitch for the Gravity Suit wouldn't be so bad to see in a new 100% Run. I think it might deserve its own Category though.. Its a lot more exciting then watching the stupid Chozo Cut-Scene that's for sure. Still it would be interesting to see what the next 100% Run consists of. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a Glitched 100% though because it would be a nice change of pace but, I want to see the regular 100% more then anything. Also I would really love to see a Space Time Glitch 100% Run. I think it would be incredible to see a fully Powered Up Samus taking out each room under TAS conditions!!! That is if someone ends up doing it, GOD I hope they do!!! Are you guys gonna release anymore WIP's or are you just keeping things under wraps until everything's finished?

That sucks. :( I just did it on console after the X-Ray Scope. Man that is some glitch!!! I think Speed Keeping after might be faster in that room but, there both to hard to do for console conditions. I can do it on the way there pretty consistently but, the way back is much harder for console because of damage. Speed Keeping is a pain in the ass on console though anyway. Also about the spikes I figured as much when it came to that trick. Would be awesome if you could do it of enemies but, you obviously can't. BTW I saw those .smv files on that some page as well. Those are some really nice optimizations for the 100% Run!!! I hope someone ends up doing a 100% Run sometime soon!!!

X-ray scope doesn't actually save any time in an RBO run (at least compared to the amount of time it would take to collect it). I think spoofer picked it up in one of his RBO runs, just for the sake of doing something different. I also agree with you that xray glitching is not very entertaining anyway. If a new 100% run is ever made, I would hope xray glitching is not used.
Well that is interesting you say that. How exactly is it useful in a 100%? Cause that might actually be interesting unless your just talking about skipping the Mother Brain fight and all that nonsense. Cause yea that would definitely be boring.

Here is my latest creation..... "The Hero Charge Bluesuit on a Dime" http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/437710861/hero_.smv This trick also lends itself to some of the craziest game physics ever, breaking the game in many ways. Hint: Try jump or reversing direction while in this state. I am currently looking for nice legal uses for it though... I am sure I'll be posting quite a few.
Speaking of X-Ray Scoping have you ever found a use for this!!! Also does it work in the water with no Gravity Suit?

Quick question. So you guys aren't even picking up the X-Ray Scope at all? If so this makes me want to see what you guys have planned even more. I personally hate the X-Ray Glitching. So that would definitely make the run even more entertaining!!! BTW I need my fix, hope you guys post another WIP soon!!!!!!!!!

I'm 100% sure they will incorporate it SaiXeven because its definitely faster. From what I believe is he only shows up if you go in backwards like in the demonstration video. I've seen Tiki do it numerous times going forward and he doesn't even show up. It might also be a console thing but, I'm not sure. I wouldn't doubt he doesn't show up in their TAS.

Just an update. We are now halfway through Boomer Kuwanger's stage. I discovered that you can glitch the elevator part. You can climb up to the top, die, and warp to the next area. Only condition is that the screen must scroll up for it to work; but just touching the elevator platform once and then going up is enough. From testing, it appears to be about 30 frames faster.
Wow!!! I had no idea anyone was working on this. I'm really glad your improving it, I can't wait to see it when its done!!!

What would happen if you get a Game Over screen after you Goal Glitch? I was thinking something weird might happen like triggering the credits. Probably not, but worth trying I believe.

This glitch is incredible!!! I can't believe something like that actually exists. Just one question since I haven't been completely following the thread. Who founded it? Anyway I hope you guys find a way to sup 10 min!!! Honestly even if you don't this will be a great candidate for TAS of the year!!! Good Luck with the rest of the run guys!!!
