Here you go Cpadolf!!! BTW I played it in 1.43 like all SNES TAS videos. http://www.zshare.net/video/926898825f68c019/ I didn't even realize the weirdest part until now. After he crashes into the wall he gets stuck in it. Also its still flashing as if hes still Shine Sparking!!!

WTF? You clearly hit the door with that Shine Spark. I don't know why that happened but, maybe it was due to the door not being a normal door. Have you tried it on other doors like that one? That's some really weird stuff!!!

You get less stuff per pickup: 50 energy per tank, 5 missiles, 2 Super Missiles or 2 Power Bombs per pack. Which is 1499 energy, 225 missiles, 50 super missiles, 50 power bombs.
Oh! That makes more sense now. Some how I didn't even notice that. LOL!!! Regardless there is still a ridiculous amount of items in the game. I like that in a way though because its kind of more entertaining to watch all the room strategies for getting the items. Not fun to go through all those Item Boxes though!!!

WARNING: this hack has too many items!!! Besides Samus' equipments, there are 28 E-Tanks, 45 M-packs, 25 SM-packs, 25 PB-packs and 4 R-Tanks, in total of 143 items! Each item takes 400 frames to play the music, that means 143 items take 57200 frames (equals 15 minutes 53 seconds and 20 frames) (about 16 min just to hear the collecting music XD)
Wow, that's a lot of items!!! So its 225 Missiles, 175 Super Missiles and 175 Power Bombs to end the game. I understand the reason for so many Super Missiles but, why so many Power Bombs? Well I guess its for noobies to explore areas. Still that's a little excessive to put in so many Power Bombs. Its enough having 100 Items in the original game. To be honest for 100 Items to equal 100% seems like the perfect formula in my opinion.

I don't follow that run, my routes are different :D I try not to repeat the same route many times, and try to expand the game more ;) I just have Tourian and Pirate Ship left! There is a Missile pack in Tourian that is extreme hard to get o.O?!
And you shouldn't follow it because from what I saw it wasn't very optimized at all. I mean aside from the Continuous Wall Jumps I could do part one better non TAS. Anyway that's great!!! I'm really looking forward to seeing its completion!!!

Damn, I can't test it yet! But I think with this new Speed Booster technique, the escape will smoother!

I've just got Gravity Suit and aiming for Security Lock 4, long way left to go XD
I only watched some of that NBMB TAS so I'm not sure how far into the game that is, but it seems like your progressing well!!!

I'd personally rather see boss fights. I believe it makes the run more entertaining.

Thanks :D I like TASing, especially hacks of Super Metroid (not the original XD) but I'm very reckless, that's why I miss so many optimized things! If I can be as good as Cpadolf and Kriole =P~ then my TAS will look better :3 About my 100% run of this hack, I finished 50~60% (not sure) I'm rushing for Gravity Suit at the moment XD
Even not fully optimized its very entertaining!!! I'm always looking forwards to any new TAS of this game. Its always a good watch!!! Anyway 50~60% already, that was fast. I can't wait to see it!!!!!!

That's unfortunate to hear, but I understand. Super Metroid is not only a pain in the ass to Speed Run but, is also a pain in the ass to TAS.

Yea I mean the Shine Spark Glitch thing where it allows you to run afterwards. Will it allow you to run faster in the lava then normal or is it still the same speed without speed echos? I'm not very familiar with some of the glitches the hacks have.
No, the shinespark's effect will totally wear off under lava, the speed will be reset afterward :)

Yeah, TASing is really needed time ^^! And it's over when you start to work for your real-life! My friend used to TAS along with me, but when he went to work, he quit TASing... My free time will end soon ^^! I have to go to work next month, and I'm trying to finish 100% of this hack before it happens! Will finish soon XD
I figured that but, I wasn't entirely sure. I hope you finish it before that happens Hoandjzj!!! I really enjoyed your last TAS of this game before Cpadolf took on the project. I'm not very familiar with some of the glitches the hacks have. I'm pretty sure Cpadolf did that TAS with a combination of both real and in-game time. Anyway I hope he redoes it someday. His TAS was incredibly entertaining and I implemented lots of tricks from it for my actual Speed Run.

First off great job so far guys!!! What would happen if you cancel the Shine Spark out? Will it run again? Also in lava if you Shine Spark and take the Speed Booster off it speeds up. Anyway Cpadolf are you planning on improving your Super Metroid 100% TAS?

Sorry, I thought by "ledge grab" you meant the Power Grip from MZM. Apparently you meant some Super Metroid TAS trick? I can't find anything on Super Metroid specifically talking about this; I just turn up talk about Smash Bros.
That makes more sense now, LOL!!! Anyway I like the fact that the Power Grip and some other things weren't included because that stuff just makes the game easier. Although Screw Attack blocks would have been cool, but either way is alright with me.

Neither of the two TASes looks fully optimized. I don't have a .smv to prove otherwise, but there are situations where it just looks like a corner could have been cut better, or a short charge could have been done differently etc. 4N6: I encourage you to actually play the hack. It's a good one, though your route and playing experience will differ a lot from the TASes you see.
Yea, I mean the game looks great!!! Recreating Zero Mission with Super Metriod Graphics and Techniques sounds to me like Super Metroid 2!!! As of right now, I'm more focused on Speed Running Super Metroid. I do plan on playing this after I done with that of course. BTW is anyone working on a Super Metroid Fusion?

The one thing I don't like about this game is the fact that boss fights are pretty much non-existent. I didn't really know until after watching the Any% Run.

I have no idea why but i can't watch the 100% nbmb run, the video is all messed up with graphical problems. This only happened with this video. Regarding the video "Tub" posted, the run doesn't look optimized for me, unless there's no way to ledge grab... i've seen that video before but felt discouraged to watch because of this feeling that it is not optimized.
BTW i noticed the ledge grabbing thing too or lack there of I should say. I just think its not fully optimized is all. As the current NTSC Speed Runner of Super Metroid it sickens my not seeing ledge grabs.
Derakon wrote:
There's no ledge grab; the game's using the Super Metroid engine, and adding a ledge grab would require very extensive code changes. It's hard enough to implement that kind of thing when you're working in a proper high-level language, let alone when you're working in assembler. Speaking from experience. There's also no Charge Beamst, no ziplines in Kraid, no screw attack blocks, no morphball shinespark, etc... That said, the any% run isn't maximally optimized; there were cases where bombs weren't laid as far from bombblocks as possible, and I'm pretty sure the sequence break for super missiles could have been done faster by walljumping off of the crumbleblocks. EDIT: in response to the below: the any% run skipped almost every bossfight by getting powerbombs early. Remove that sequence break, and Kraid and Ridley must be killed to access Tourian and Phantoon. The other minor bosses are scattered about in various random locations (e.g. Botwoon replaces the Chozo test from MZM).
Thanks for the information, I really appreciate that. So no ledge grabbing? That's pretty shocking, like I said before I just thought it wasn't a fully optimized TAS. Because it should still cause you to land earlier if you hit Angle Up, Angle Down or even shoot. How does that get taken out?

It's been a good while, gentlemen. http://tasvideos.org/19M.html Uses the Konami code at the end. Yes, it is an old movie. Yes, it was published for historical reasons [so I think, like Morimoto's SMB3 run]. At the same time, yes, it uses a code. Also, there are other movies on the site that use codes to either start at later levels or skip part of the game. Would love to add my Yes to the mix, but my post count is too low... Saturn, welcome back, good to see your Metroid runs again.

...You know, now I'm not entirely convinced I would reject the run if it used the code at the start. It'd be like a New Game+ for Super Metroid, and that might actually be pretty fun to watch.
It'd look like this, more or less. Not too great. Without X-ray could be fun though.
Yea boring with the X-Ray Scope Glitching, but a fully powered up Non Glitched 100% Run would be very entertaining. Tackling each room Fully Powered up sounds fun. BTW the Metroid Skip that Saturn did. Was it only possible due to the Arm Pumping or is it just timing? I would really like to know if it would be possible on console. Also after watching again is he beaming the Metroid's Hit Box? I definitely don't think this would be possible on console.

! This run was amazing, and I'd love to see it published. Many improvements even translate into the any%, which I have absolutely no intention of redoing. I'm gonna join the 'Submit Redesign Run'-movement.
Yea I recall you saying that on the Super Metroid topic. I'm guessing Taco never gave an answer? What an amazing group effort that would be though!!! I hope you guys pick up the project!!! That's sad to hear Kriole. If you didn't know I'm one of the current NTSC Super Metroid Speed Runners on SDA. I always look forward to a new Super Metroid TAS but, I do understand why you have no intention of redoing it because of all the work that's put into each TAS. I really have a lot of respect for all of you guys. I never would've learned so much about the game, if it wasn't for all the hard work each and everyone of you guys put in.

Speaking of Metroid Redesign as well as all other Super Metroid Hacks. This Code will work in any room the Golden Torizo is in for those that may be curious.

Very optimized and entertaining run. Well done Saturn!!! I would vote yes if I could but, I can't vote. I don't believe should replace an of the current runs. Though I do believe it could be categorized as Any% "Glitched" All Bosses Beaten or something along those lines.

Thanks scrimpeh, I really appreciate it. BTW an interesting Glitch has been found by JAM on the M2K2 forums. If you jump in the Golden Torizo's room and hold A,X,Y + B through the door transition it will give you 100 Missiles, 20 Super Missiles, 20 Power Bombs, 700 energy, 3 full Reserve Tanks and all the items in the game except for the Screw Attack. Also its best to equip your missiles so you don't crash the game because it automatically equips all your Beams. So after you can just start and unequip the Spazer. Also it works for both entry points of the room.
