That's a lie.
http://tasvideos.org/3444S.htmlhttp://tasvideos.org/3120S.html
and http://tasvideos.org/2003M.html was until today.
Also, even if it is the policy to put such movies there, it is not written anywhere, so the only way i could have known that would be to go through and examine every single publication.
Rules are rules, even if they aren't written anywhere, and i won't argue that they should be changed, but if that is indeed the case, i do intend to cancel this submission.

I can imagine, it doesn't have to sync, what I said above was more about the idea in theory.
It syncs up to the first fight (after the wooly eyes, which all die almost instantly). The desync is almost certainly not caused by different luck. It could be lag, but i don't know.
Don't cancel it, it is a nice movie that would make the site better. I want it published, just we need to clarify a few details.
Well i don't really want to see it put in some back corner. If that is really the only place it can be put, then i will be canceling it.
I understand your confusion. The information is spread across the movie rules, guidelines, and judge rules pages, and each one has info not on the other. You really need to read all 3 to get it, and it still leaves some uncovered edge cases.
I had not read the Judges guidelines before (probably because it's not linked to from any page i'd ever have a reason to be on), but it also does not say anything relevant about this situation except:
It should not start from reset, SRAM, or soft-reset unless, of course, that is necessary for the goal choice (such as to unlock a character, or take advantage of newgame+, for instance).
Which is more or less the same thing as the rules say, and does not conflict with what i did.

Impure movies only appear on the hacks/demo page.
What about the Mega Man 10 "Bass, Hard Mode" and Metal Gear Solid runs? One uses existing save data and one uses a preinitialized memory card with data on it, yet are on the movie pages for their respective consoles.
There are others as well.
Anyway, before starting this, i read the rules and guidelines. The guidelines say basically nothing about starting from a save. The rules however say it's not allowed, but then goes on to say it's allowed for (apparently) any reason, so long as a verification movie is provided. Maybe i should have asked for clarification about the terribly worded and contradictory rules, but i didn't, so i guess that's my fault.
If this is really such a big deal that it either can't be published, or can only be published to some far off corner of the site that no one will ever find it at, i'll just make this simple for you and cancel the submission. Again, all i'll ask is that the rules be reworded so they match the criteria submissions will be judged by.
Also, this won't sync when hexed to use the lowest difficulty. Of course then i'd imagine it'd be rejected for not using the harder difficulty, so it probably doesn't matter anyway, eh?

Lycos is a free web hosting service. Probably using shitty ad services that often contain viruses. My guess is someone linked to it, or posted a picture hosted there or something.

Can you even create filetype associations with subtypes? From my understanding, subtypes are completely disregarded by Windows. Even if you had a program that could differentiate the loading via the subtype, there are a lot more text / hex editors out there that wouldn't have any knowledge of BizHawk to implement this.
You could create a program that determines whether the file is in a text or binary format, and then send it to the appropriate program for editing. This would be extremely silly, but it is possible.

Perceivable is the wrong word i think. I did say that there was no noticeable difference, but these words aren't quite the same thing. There are differences, however it's unlikely anyone would ever notice them, unless i pointed them out. If you knew what to look for, however, they could be seen.
Although i can cancel most damage i take, it does take some time, and is slower than just getting hit normally. Having only 1 hp prevents me from taking any hits, unless i cancel the damage. So my only choice is to cancel the damage (if possible), or not get hit at all.
This is especially noticeable towards the end of Raijin. If i could get hit here, this would have been a good bit faster. It's also important to note that i can only cancel damage while in the air (or sometimes if i get knocked into the air; also note that i do ~50% more damage on the ground than in the air), and the attack does not break my weapon. In the case of raijin, it actually would have been fastest at one point to intentionally break my weapon, because it allows an instant quick draw, which would have destroyed all of the thunder balls around me. Unfortunately, breaking my weapon on shigurui means instant death. So instead i had to dance around the thunder balls, as well as her thunder punch attack (which is always automatically blocked, destroying your weapon and damaging you if you get hit), costing more time than it would have taken to simply get hit and switch weapons.
That being said, the main reason i chose to do it on shigurui was for the novelty of having 1 hp. So if you want to reject this because of an unwritten/ambiguous rule, i won't cry over it, and will only ask that you reword the rules to something that accurately describes what is not allowed.

Wiimote recording actually does not work properly right now, so you can rule those wii games out.
Just pick a game that seems relatively easy to tas, and that you think you'll enjoy doing, and just do it. Don't worry too much about it.

Throwing the rock is a little more than half the speed of just carrying it, not sure why anyone thought that could ever make sense to do.
What about carrying the rock and then throwing it once so it lands right in front of the gate? (I've done this for fun in runs before, but it might not be any faster)
This appears to take exactly the same time.
If i ever end up having a compelling reason to redo anything before goat herding, i'll change it, but otherwise i'm not redoing the goats for something that doesn't even save any time.

I don't know if we really need a maximum coins branch of SMB on TASVideos. Since we've rejected my lowest score TAS, I guess maximum coins doesn't stand a chance, unless it's extremely powerful and entertaining.
I thought TASes are done for the art rather than for the recognition.

HL Coins Land (original SMB1 Hack) TAS in 10:49.38 (2011.2)

As for coins in SMB, they do not have much effect, and they are not precious because there are lots of them. Taking all those coins, but there's nowhere to spend them, how could that make any difference?
And with all the known glitches about SMB, a TAS like that would be a huge project, which I'm not interested in.
