About 10-15 frames faster than climbing up at the end.
Interestingly, if the scene here starts while you are hanging off the edge, midna will not talk to you until you climb back up.

In the sewers, looks like jumping over the stairs saves a good chunk of time. If you land at the very edge of the stairs, you'll warp forward, saving about 4 frames per jump.

With no tas-input/more-save-fixes?
It doesn't even include more-save-fixes? I must have been confused by your post in the Dolphin Development thread, because I thought everything was merged in the master branch. That's not the case?
No. I merged tas-input into master myself for those builds.

My movies don't sync on the 516 build i posted before. Muramasa failed before the title screen, and TP makes it to the second area and then fails to pick up a rock at the start. No idea which revision causes the change, or how hard it would be to fix.

It's like they're totally disrespecting our whole community and the opinion of the majority of the users here. How many people are going to want to use an emulator named BizHawk, and how many casual gamers want to make movie files with the extension ".tas"??
They're disrespecting the community by not naming the emulator exactly what the community wants? Frankly, i would say the opposite is true. They have every right to name it anything they want, no matter how much everyone hates or, or thinks it's stupid.
I will agree on .tas, but seriously, the name is up to them.
Shouldn't our opinion matter?!
No more than you're opinion on the name of captain crunch.

After the first few minutes I just found myself skipping through the video. I understand this was done as an improvement to a previous submission, but this game is just boring to watch, I think.
I think this definitely falls into the category of "poor game choice." This is eight and a half minutes of mediocre platforming. I respect the time rog put into improving this but it is my opinion that there's no reason to publish this (besides being a fan of the cartoon, I suppose). So, my vote is no.
(I notice I am the first to vote no thus far. I am concerned that people are voting yes because it was an improvement without realizing this game has not yet been published. If I am the only one who found this boring, then disregard this note.)
Eh, it's certainly not the most entertaining run ever done, but far worse has been published before. To be honest though, i was definitely expecting more no votes for this reason. I suspect there hasn't been any others simply because it is such a large improvement over spikestuff's run. Nevertheless, i definitely do think it falls well above the bad game choice line.
But hey, i'm clearly biased, so feel free to ignore this.

Of all the reasons to vote no/meh, that's the best you can do? Because he's not a native english speaker, and he's never sugbmitted anything else here before? Really?

You take a hit at 1:17 that really slows you down. Is it absolutely necessary??
Unless you want me to wait 5 seconds for it to move away, yes. Taking damage from the monkey before that instead of waiting would not have gotten me there fast enough to get through either.

rog: given that this game hasn't been properly TAS'd (that I know of) why not do a test run first and not worry too much about optimization just yet? It's quite likely you may find additional time-saving techniques late in the run that you'll wish you could have used earlier.
Eh, maybe. Even a really quick test run take a few weeks to do, and i really wouldn't expect to get much value out of a quick run like that. This would be the first tas, but a quite a bit of glitch hunting has been done, as well a number of speedruns. It might be useful, but probably not too much, and i know i'd have a difficult time staying motivated to even work on a run that is intentionally shitty.

It just seems to me as though you just did what you thought was the fastest method without testing to see if there's a faster way.
I tested everything i could think of that seemed like it could even possibly be faster. I obviously did not consider everything, so if you've got any ideas that would be worth testing, i'd love to hear them.

Also it seems that a large portion of the WIP so far was done not using frame advance, but just using Dolphin's slow speeds. In some cases, this isn't a problem, but usually doing everything on the first frame possible (rolls, etc.) is faster. It's clear that in some spots you did put effort into doing stuff on the first frame (14:43), but there really isn't any consistency.
Everything requiring more input than just running around (which was often, but not always, just done with slow down) was always done with frame advance to get it as soon as possible. If there's anything specific you see that could be improved, please do share.

Well, how many is "too many", in your case? Personally, I didn't notice enough of people complaining about them for it to matter; and the movie still ended up with a 70%+ approval rating nevertheless.
