When having a trouble shooting issue it is always best to test it on the latest version, 4.0.2. Let me know if it still desyncs in 4.0.2.
Uh, no. It's obviously going to desync on 4.0.2. It's also over a thousand revisions behind at this point, so if you wanted to do that, you should probably try the actual latest version instead. Phailsku: i really doubt there's anything that can be done now, other than adding an option for 3.5x IR, or 5x IR and see if it happens to sync.

You only need to not have dump audio to avi on to get a timecodes.txt. If it's on, then the video will automatically be converted to 60 fps cfr, and it won't give you a timecodes.txt.

You need to put the exe in a folder containing all the other needed files. It won't work on its own. Just copy it into another dolphin folder you downloaded from http://dolphin-emu.org.

Flip: The rerecords would be displayed where you indicate. That is the price one pays for such a simple implementation. The full branching tree of input and rerecords is what my previous suggestion was about. That can be visualized for example like this: Link to video But getting the full history requires much more work than simply getting the rerecord count per frame, and there was not enough interest in implementing it.
That is seriously awesome.

I like it. Here, have a quick implementation for dolphin. http://pastie.org/private/ejwbgptvaiqqmgyo7svl1w edit: i guess loading from the file is probably a good idea. There's probably still bugs too, so you probably shouldn't use this.

Just search unknown value, do something that would increase the score, then search increase value, do something that would decrease the score, and search decreased value. Repeat that until you find the right one.

If you need to ask for general advice, you're not going to be able to handle a tas of mm.

Have never used dolphin before. I'm not opposed to it, but I am having difficulty finding an .iso for the game that isn't torrent - I'm not a huge fan of torrents.
And your optical drive isn't one of those drives that is capable of dumping the disc?
There's only a few that can. Unless you bought one for this purpose, it almost certainly can't.

Wouldn't this make the TAS fixed length? That makes it pretty much impossible to improve it.
Yes. Any competetant taser could easily make a perfectly optimal tas.

Duh.. What? How could you do that.
The required notes are all in a standard, well documented format. Converting it to button presses would be trivial.

Seems kind of pointless because you can just parse the game files and generate a perfect tas without ever even running the game, with minimal effort.

Checksums don't necessarily mean anything here if you didn't dump the disk yourself. Every iso is padded with garbage to exactly fit the size of the disk. When people upload to the internet, they remove that garbage, to save space (it's random, so it can't be compressed), so the checksum won't match. That doesn't necessarily mean the game data isn't identical.

I thought it was reasonably entertaining. A bit repetitive, for sure, but it's only 3 minutes long, so that didn't really detract from it, IMO.

It should sync on 4.0.2.

As I mentioned before, i believe it works after this. It's a recent change, so the wiki is probably not up to date.

It's a little more subtle than that, because the cheats emulate things that you can physically do with difficulty: -Bring your memory card to an F-Zero AX machine and unlock everything
Any reason you can't do that in a verification movie? Or why not use the JP version?

You can set a frame limit in the config. You can also set a hotkey to increase/decrease it.

Are you using dual core or something? That definitely should not be necessary.

sorry to ask a perhaps dumb question, but what to do with the .exe file to run it? just overwrite the existing .exe file inside the installation folder of dolphin 4.0.2?
In my case, I'd rename it to Dolphin-AVSync. I think you use the original one for TASing and the AVSync one for rendering out the video and audio. And thanks Rachel for the patches!
You can tas with the av sync hack.
