For problem 1, did you dumped from your Wii the DSP files for LLE?
This seems like the most likely cause. The dsp rom that comes with dolphin was made from scratch in a few hours and doesn't have proper timings. Graphics backend can cause desyncs, but i've only heard of it happening in one case (twilight princess).

Just merge https://github.com/nattthebear/dolphin-avsync/branches One of those should merge easily to anything before about...3.5? Some time around there was a ton of changes to audio code, so those are no good anymore. Here's a few patches i have for after that: http://pastie.org/private/rjsc34b6docjke5qodypq this applies to 4.0.2 and probably revisions near there. http://pastie.org/private/wh6akp6rebhoizy89xv5cw applies to 4.0-613 http://pastie.org/private/wwrnbphs5tkpy8fbtexdna that one is pre 4.0, but that's all i know. It's dated 2013-9-16. Try it if nothing else works, i guess. One of of these should merge either cleanly, or with a small amount of conflicts that can easily be fixed for just about any revision.

The dsp roms that come with dolphin DO have different timings, and should not be used.

I wanted to work on this tas more, but lakebed sucks, so i found some cool tricks instead. Link to video This one saves 1 whole frame, by equipping the iron boots, so we fall faster. Link to video This saves approximately 18-25 frames or something, seems to be possible for all of these spinner spinning -> cutscene things.

Improved since when? There's still an issue with save states that can cause desyncs, but it's not particularly common. For reference, i did a 46 minute, 12k rerecord tas, and got about 6 desyncs, i believe. When not using save states, it will never desync, so playing back from the start will always give the same output. I found it to be more than manageable, if you would like to tas a wiimote game, but of course even occasional desyncs might be a big hurdle for a particularly long/difficult game.

Bad news. Gate clip in lakebed doesn't work on dolphin. This will probably cost us a few seconds. http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=6888
:o Well, is there a way other than backflip that could also clip? Or is the hitbox for the gate completely different in Dolphin?
It can be done with a sidehop too, but that doesn't work either.

As i told you repeatedly, you can maintain the higher speed from sliding for as long as you jump, so the best strategy is to jump off at the last possible frame.

You may want to compare to my old wip. Just looking at the encodes, it appears you're at least 5 frames behind as of the flagpole. As i've told you a number of times, your are handling the slides completely wrong. Even with the huge time i wasted not jumping after getting the propeller hat, you still only beat mine by a couple of frames.

Still, the whole input file must count or someone could deliberately do the tails unlocking part slower/suboptimally but the rest even faster and try to obsolete this run. :P
The whole input file does not count.
In terms of Unlocking Tails + Levels or just the levels? So if a future run wasted an hour for no reason just to mess around before unlocking tails, but does everything afterwards faster, would the time be simply truncated? I actually thought if a future run were to try to obsolete this, they could also improve the unlocking tails part along with the levels themselves.
If someone spends an hour unlocking tails, their movie will be rejected. If they take 5 extra frames, it'd probably be ignored.

I don't think so, there's a game called Tails' Sky Patrol that's written just like that.
www.bartleby.com/141/strunk.html It's literally the first rule in the book on this. It's a common mistake though, so it's not too surprising to see sega get it wrong.

Well really, you can only learn 3D by tasing 3D. I believe all the OoT and MM TASers started with 3D. (3 of the 5 I know, definatly started with 3D, the other two I'm not 100% sure)
Well, there are certainly some aspects of 3d tasing that you won't learn by tasing 2d games, but there are plenty that you can as well. It's definitely not necessary to start with a 2d game, but it can help if you do. And of course for someone who isn't very good, starting with an easier game can help. 2D tasing in this case is useful because it tends to be much easier.
