Wrong. Sagat is a character who is not able to do more than 5 or maybe even 4 hit combos because even his low punches/kicks are still too slow. I once started a Guile run in ssf2, defeated 4 fighters but cancelled it 'cause I run out of ideas to make the further fights entertaining since he has a low amount of different combos. My max. combo with Guile was 10 hits though. Maybe Dee Jay would be a interesting choice, since I once managed to do a 12-hit combo with him (which is only 1 hit behind the record of Feilong) and also some other interesting combos/moves. Because of that it could be possible I start a Dee Jay run next year but I can't guarantee that. Maybe I also work further on my tournament mode which I cancelled after the first 4 rounds.

I was always fascinated of Astronomy and while creating a nickname I thought I just pick up a name of my favourite planet of our solar system. And this was definitely Saturn since its a special planet with his unique rings. Sadly I completely forgot at this moment that there is another console called Sega-Saturn which was annoying to remember. I wanted to change the nick but I thought it would be too late since I already contributed some movies on Zophar under this nick (on which my Internet-being as a stable nickname began). Now I don't care anymore.

Just WOW! Right, I never thought you can break the 10 min barrier in 1 player mode even with Bisqwits trick and the waterpipes. I was very curious where the heck you could improve 4 whole seconds and made a 1:1 compare of our movies between each Zone... The result in Frames: After Zone...____Genisto______Me____Improving per Zone (comments) * Zone A:________5149______5168______+19 (better route, less lag, Bisqwits zap-trick and faster stone-box throwing) * Zone B:________9499______9567______+49 (I lost 45 frames at the waterpipes, so main improvement is +4 on better route+zapping) * Zone D:_______14325_____14428______+35 (mostly on Bisqwits zap-trick and additional damage-taking of the last bullet) * Zone F:_______17288_____17465______+74 (my biggest error, see description below) * Zone G:_______22987_____23168______+4 (Bomb-zapping and better route) * Zone H:_______26281_____26465______+3 (slightly better route at climbing up the many platforms) * Zone I:________31153_____31337______0 (identical) * Zone J + end:__35830_____36085______+71 (better abuse of the conveyor belt, better enemy-killing to clear a shorter path and avoid lot of lag, better box-throwing on switches) As you can see most time was saved in Zones F and J. In the long vertical room in Zone F, I completely overlooked the possibility to get much earlier access to the first moving platform by just removing the box on it, this alone saves at least 70 Frames. Zone J was absolutely perfect IMO, I was shocked to see that I overlooked so many minor maneuvers which added together still give more than a sec improvement. Very very nice work Genisto, never thought someone has the skill to make such a fast and perfect run in this mode. Now I think the movie is absolutely flawless and impossible to improve anymore until someone finds another crazy glitch/trick. A big YES vote!

Shakespeare: I would rather like to see another fighter with good combo-possibilities we haven't used in the previous runs like Dee Jay, Bison, Feilong etc.

SF2 Turbo is much faster thats right, but SSF2 has by far more variety since they added new moves for each fighter which allows you to do more different combos. Thats the only reason I picked this game in my movies.

Very well done, Genisto! Zone F was great. Very good strategy to get up there with the ballons. In Zone H you could be a little faster by Killing one character at the point where you have to jump many platforms up and go through the wall with the Ballon (like in Bisqwits run). In Zone I you saved the most time of the entire run (about 10-15 sec) by flying with the ballons through the ventilators, great Idea! You can't compare a 2-player run with a 1-player run because of the many advantages here (it's a different category IMO) however if Bisqwit thinks we don't need a 1-player run, its OK. I'm still sure you can't be faster than 10:01 there. Anyway, this one deserves a clear YES of course!

Congratulations again on your second published Street Fighter run :) Here are some suggestions for possibly a future improved version: Honda battle (Round 1) could be improved. Second round against Balrog was not so good which obviously can be improved. Try your ultimate to finish each round at 85 seconds. Some rounds was finished at 78 seconds, Bison for example, but I dont blame you not be able to kill him faster. I found the Ken version much more entertaining than the Zangief run, good job!
Thanks, I don't have much interest to make a improved run on this game at the moment, maybe in the next year. I know that I can defeat all opponents faster than at 88 sec but it would look boring later. The 78 sec Bison was intentional of course to show some different fighting strategies which slow you down a bit.

Any suggestions for a screenshot? I would suggest one of the Ryu or Ken fight since they are the most popular characters showing Zangiefs popular Pile-Driver or the Siberian Suplex.

Thanks, thats the right solution. I tested both variations and IMO 48 kHz sound seems to be even more exactly to the pic than 44.1, but its just a guess.

I want to rip a AVI from a test-run in Snes9x but after the AVI was done I noticed that the sound desyncs with the picture. The longer the movie-lengh is the more goes the sound ahead of the picture. I did a AVI on other games too to be sure its not just the game-fault and it was the same result anytime. I tried to change some of the sound-settings (buffer-lenght from 40 to 20, Sound-Echo, Emulation speed while ripping the AVI etc. but the result was always the same. I used the XVID single-pass codec while ripping if it makes any difference. Does someone (DeHackEd, nitsuja, Phil etc.) know what settings I have to use (or generally what to do here) while ripping a AVI out of Snes9x to make the sound stay in sync with the picture all the time like all the Snes9x-AVIs on this site? I would very appreciate it.

Thats really sad. But why starting over? You did it very well so far and your ingame-time is really good. You only have to prepare for lavos a bit and finally beat him. Haven't you tried one of the suggested ways to get usefull items like Moon or Nova Armor, buying or charming plenty of reviews, megaelixiers etc? I would suggest the following equippment: Magus: - Doom Sickle (Magus' strongest weapon) - Gloom Helm (best physical defense + fully protects status) - Dark Mail (weak but 5 more M.Def.) or Gloom Cape (best physical Defense) - Blue Rock (Omega Flare) Robo: - at least Kaiser Arm - Vigil Hat (charm from Mega Mutant in Omen-entrance - it fully protects status) - Moon Armor (best phys. defense + M.Def +10!) - Wall Ring (again +10 M.Def) Lucca: - Best Weapon you have (doesn't matter much) - best helm you have - Zodiac Cape (M.Def +10) - Amulet (fully protects status) Using this equippment all 3 characters will have status protection and very hight M.Def bonuses. No chaos or any other abnormality can harm you now. Charm at least 20 MegaElixiers (of each Ruminator (4 per battle) in Omen and use Omega Flare as often as possible. You really shouldn't have much trouble with the help of tools. PS: Already noticed the Pockemon Topic, but don't know the game at all. If I were you I would definitely hold on Chrono Trigger, you spended so much time on this run and a complete TAS for this beautiful game would be more than great. There's only the final battle left after all, but of course its your decision. EDIT: Yeah, even sub 6 then. I just want to make clear, if marsh can do that on a console then you can also do it in a TAS. You both have almost same conditions at this stage.

Any news on this run? Tilus was so close to the end at the most tricky and exciting part of the game, so I just wonder where he is gone. Anyway just want to note that marshmallow works on a speedrun for this game on SDA and do very well for console-conditions. The test run was completed in less than 7 hours (including beating Lavos of course) and now we discuss to find a even faster way. Here is the topic of this run: http://speeddemosarchive.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=consoles_older;action=display;num=1128221503;start=0 I hope this could inspire Tilus to finally complete this run...

This glitch is nearly impossible to perform on a console or in live conditions, you need frame-perfect timing to do it perfectly. Teri's run is here: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=311 Just enable the "show input" option so you can see when Teri presses which buttons during this glitch!

The problem is I'm not sure if a average Metroid player (like most potential beta testers) will have the skill to beat it at all. I think I will just release it and then if someone find some bugs just post them anywhere. For that we can make a sepearate topic after the hack is complete.

I think I better keep it until its finished to not spoil the surprises in the hack later.

Not much, I would say 65% complete. I always notice some errors in the rooms I modified before and have to correct them. But now I think I fixed the most so I can continue on the next rooms.

Its a glitch. You have to press the run button in the right frames and release it again. This way you can gain the shinespark without the need to run and on this way you can perform it even in small rooms where it is normally impossible.

Hmm, a interesting point. I didn't even tried that, because of the many enemies in this area. But I guess its out of question since I can't take any damage because I need full health at the upcoming axes. This is my opinion at least.

It's very bad to work at the same time, trust me. In a run I have to concentrate on every single room and its possibilities, in a hack I need to get a complete picture of the entire game and all areas it has, to see the entire route you have to pass playing the hack. I'm about to add the Grappling Beam and I'm still not sure in which location. I also have to make sure that you can't skip any mini boss like the Spore Spawn and for this I have to add items after this bosses which are required to pass to the next area and this becomes harder and harder since after I get the Missilies and the PowerBombs I can basically open every gate. That means I have to invent new blocker (not just doors) and the needed items to open them behind the later bosses. Not easy... Also you must be able to pull off the MockBall, perfect Walljumping bomb-climbing and much more hard moves over and over to pass this hack. Without them you are lost, so practise them now if you look foreward to play this hack. I also make sure that none of the glitches we know today will work in my hack, so forget passing the zebetitis, the green gate glitch, and other of this kind :-)

Because a run for this game will take me at least 4 months to complete and a hack maybe 2-3 weeks. Faster things first especially if I got such a interest for that currently. Also for a run I need a clear mind to see/find improvements imediately which I don't have right now.

I just need a change between speedrunning... Plus I only recently discovered this possibility to hack, and I honestly always wanted to make a Hack for Super Metroid even as a child 10 years ago already, since it was one of the most fascinating games for me. I was always very good in making labyrinths and deep Plannings, and this game gives me the perfect possibility to add them in a hack. I promise that I will continue on the run after I do this hack, just give me time.

The hack is to about 60% complete. I break my head by planing the route and by decide where to place which items and on which time to make access to them. I will also insert some traps and instant-death situations you have to pass... It will be that hard to beat that I really doubt if someone except Smokey, Red Scarlet or any other undiscovered Genius would manage it without tools, or only after very much time spent by practising. You'll see!
