Shingen: I agree with the picture "We are in a video Game", good idea. Bill is one of the programmers of this game. I heard once he made something wrong in his work and for a gag they decided to implent this in the game but very good hided.

No problem. Sadly my boss would kill me if I would do that during work :-(

1.) what does all the trading in the market accomplish? what do you get as a result of all that annoying noise? 2.) why do you run into the empty courtyard before going to the 2 guards? 3.) crits for 999+ how you able to do that at such a low level?
1.) As HSZZZ pointed out for the Atlas-glitch but also to get every possible trade-good you can buy in this market as fast as possible and to the cheapest prize since this is a 100% run which requires that. The running up and down in the market is because I was very limited on money so I had to buy "Rice" for 3 yewels and sell it for 4 at the bottom. On this way I got about 100 jewels each time and only on this way I could get the needed money for everything then. I also bought all the needed goods ahead for the Gothica World so I could exchange them for other goods there. You can check the result of this trading by going to the ring-mode and look in the purple pouch in the game after this all. 2.) I run in the empty courtyard just for showing the full location of Nobilia, the same is with the guards. This all happened in the unavoidable waiting time till the meeting so I don't lose time here at all. I think it's better this way than just standing and waiting for the meeting. 3.) This is the result of the Atlas-glitch like HSZZZ mentioned. Without this glitch I would lose definitely much more than 1 hour in the end result. I discovered this one myself accidentaly in early 1997 before anyone ever mentioned that anywhere. A bud even suggested me to report it somewhere to get some cash for it but in this time I was to lazy to do that.

Of course I use turbo at all dialogs. Waiting and pressing only if necessary is to much unneeded work. I use 2 buttons and press them alternate, on this way I reach the earliest possible moment to switch between the dialogs automatical.

Thanks. I don't know which game I will make next, but another RPG like Terranigma will be just too long. Althought this games are great, 1/2 year per walkthrough is a bit long. I will concentrate on a platformer next. Now I need a break after all this stress and exertions and decide later what game I pick next.

This is it! The run is complete. I managed to keep the Spear till the end by not killing the 3 Death-Spiders but pushing them in a corner so that they are not viewable on the screen. The CPU lose them of his memory and therefore it didn't even lag. Now to the point of cancelling the Input even earlier and letting CPU kill the boss: It won't work. The boy moves always away to recharge and the Dog make to less damage so it would be very long and looks ugly. I kept the input till last hit and canceled it then. I reached a awesome time of 2 hours 4 min and 6 sec! 2 min better than I expected. I will submit the movie in a while, it takes some time to write the description.

I think it would be possible, but not perfect. TAS runs depend mostly on intelligence not on skill. It's like chess - you have to find the best move-combination for the fastest possible result at the end. Its not always the "move forward without stopping" case. Also extremely manipulating of luck would be hard for a programm to find.

As feared before, optimizing the last battles will take some time. Sometimes the boy miss some attacks, sometimes they don't take maximum damage, sometimes the enemies apear in different frames on the screen and there is a lot randomness. I'm right before the appearing of the Bad Boy via Flash. Then only the Bad Dog, Magmar and Finally Carltrons Robot (he has 30000 HP) is left. I also found out that if I don't kill the last 3 Death-Spiders (don't have to kill them to progress) I can keep the spear till the end and don't have to change to the Bone Crusher. The problem is there is some lag then because of many enemies on the screen. Weapon-Switching takes about 100 frames so I have to test if its longer than the losing frames of the lag. Hopefully can finnish it in about 2-3 days. I just need a break sometimes with this...

Omni: No I'm still at the beginning of the final battles, I just tested ahead yesterday but now I have to optimize it with tools. If everything goes well and the luck is by my side I will do it in about 2-4 days. There are a lot of frame-saver and I want to find them all 'cause its the last thing to do. Blade: A nice idea. I didn't even thought about that before. This could possibly save some more sec, but it would be much longer in the final result since the dog have to charge and his hits take much less damage than the glitched boy. This is the same situation like in flagitious' Super Mario World movie where he decided for the fastest kill of the boss instead of the fastest Input. Lets just wait till I reach this point to get a better picture of this and decide then.

Thanks. Yes the last dialogs progress automatical just slower, which will be about 2-5 minutes longer in the avi since there are many of them. I don't need to press any buttons after last kill to reach "THE END" screen.

Well, I have good news: I just entered the final boss room and am at the beginning of the battles. I played through the bosses dirty (live without any tools) and got a time of 2 hours 6 min and 30 sec at the last hit to kill the last boss, I hope I can cut this time to less than 2:06 with tools maybe even more, but now there is a problem: Should I stop the input right after killing the last boss to get this 2:06 time (the last dialogs progress automatical but much slower) or should I scroll through this dialogs with auto-fire till the credits? Shortly: Should I aim for fastest Input time that is needed to reach "THE END" screen (the good thing is that the last dialogs are readable on normal speed wich is good for the understanding of the story) or should I aim for the fastest total time (also faster time in the potencial AVI)?

Not really :-( this is one of this big games I haven't played that often to know all strategies. I think I will generally avoid tool assisted RPGs in the future since Secret of Evermore took me almost 1/2 year already to optimize it and its just to long.

Well, I have more important things to do than to study a game right now. My big knowledge of the games I know is because I studied them automatical while playing in the childness. I make game-movies only to share this knowledge (mostly RPGs with many secrets of course).

No, I don't know this game that well to do a perfect run of it. I generally do only movies of games I have fully studied before.

Finally got the energie-core in Gothica along with some formulas and returned to Omnitopia again. Now the way goes straight to the final bosses! Since the last bosses have very much HP and are many in a row there is much work to optimize the fights. At least this will be the best and most interesting battle in the game.

I will probably pick between these games: - Harvest Moon (very unlikely, since it's REALLY repetitive and has no "precise" goal) - Krusty's Super Fun House (unlikely) - Simpsons, The - Bart's Nightmare - Soul Blazer (unlikely, since I never played this game before) - Super Widget (I played that game a lot as a kid...) - Terranigma (unlikely, since I never played this game before) - Uniracers (unlikely because it's a racing game ... lots of expectations that would be hard to match) - Virtual Bart
I would very like to see Terranigma. It's one of the greatest games ever made in SNES, everyone say that in the reviews. It's not a problem that you have never played this game because after I have seen your Illusion of Gaia movie you have definitely the needed skill to do a great timeattack of this game. I know this game to 100% (was one of my favourites) and I would help in any case if you have questions, furthermore you can watch my Terranigma movie to see what routes and moves are good (it worked on the windows ZSNES so it shouldn't be a problem to playback it). The only problem is you have to level up sometimes in order to survive some bosses, but it's unavoidable. The interesting thing is to find out where and how much to level up to make the end result as fast as possible. But the fighting moves are very quick and easy to perform. For some information about leveling up and the problems if you won't, you can read this topic.

I already mentioned that I missed the part with the waterpipes in this post, but as I discovered the mistake I did the movie already. This part would save me about 45 frames, however even If I would do this trick I still have 10 frames left to improve the run to 10:00. I'm not sure if there are enough apples and switches to improve this 10 missing frames by Zipping. The final time would be 10:01 no matter what I do, it would be just 45 frames faster. Maybe sometime I will improve my run but as I know that the final time won't change in any case I don't have the motivation right now. I will concentrate on Secret of Evermore now, since this movie is already long awaited.

I did a 1 player timeattack of this game 20 sec faster than Genistos current 1-player run but I discovered a mistake of me done early in the game (Zone B - closing the water pipes) which would save me about 44-46 frames so I decided to hex edit the improved part in the movie since everything afterwards was absolutely perfect and at the limit. The problem is the movie desyncs because of moving randomness of Chip in some frames so I have to edit the whole movie step by step. I'm now at zone F and hope that I can finish the editing tomorow. The final time I reached is 10:01 and I ensure that its definitely not possible to beat the game in less than 10 min at least in a 1-player run. My movie is a matter of 1-2 frames tolerance (because of Lag sometimes). Even after editing the improved part I still can't reach 10:00 min. EDIT: Argh.... I don't care anymore. Editing is too complicated. I will submit the unchanged movie now.

It is a 100% run and I do my best to finish it soon. I also haven't expected myself to complete the game that fast before I started this project. 2 hours and about 10-20 min is pretty nice for a game which requires at least 10 hours to complete for a advanced player on normal conditions.

I also discovered this adress some days ago. Very nice thing. In TV they said that the resulution of every location will be improved in the future. Another simple world map which don't requires a installation is on http://maps.google.com Just switch to "Satellite" in the above right corner and zoom with the bar to the left.

As I mentioned before I wanted to show a bit punching power of Zangief. It looks much better if I do only a single punch since you can see the full swing of the move which looks harder. This was the only round I finnished like that. I let Chun Li close herself by to make it look that it's her own fault if she get hurt (Zangief don't like to hurt woman). I tried to make this movie as realistic as possible and concentrated more on variety and looking of the movie than on time.

Finally passed the Greenhouse after much optimizing at the end. I managed to keep both characters without any hurt at all and reached the Lightning teleporter with the Dog in the last possible frame. 1 Frame later reaching and the CPU boy would get killed since the last Flowering Death would get him just in the last moment! Now in Area "A3" with straight way to A4 to reach Prof. Ruffleberg there. I will post the last WIP tomorrow at his Lab. Unbelieveable but true: The whole Omnitopia travel including collecting all items till Ruffleberg is done in inhuman 5 min! I think the hard work in optimizings was worth it.

2 Reasons: Main reason is I can only scip this scenario if I already have at least 1 ingame-savestate done (.sram) if not the start button just don't work at all and you are forced to play through the first scenario. For proof just playback the movie and cancell it at this scenario and try yourself to press start. The other reason is Imake a movie and I want to show all the story of the game. If I skip it I miss many important things you have to know at the beginning as a watcher. A 100% run also includes every possible sidequest or side scenario.
