I'm trying to laugh at all these "voting no" posts... ...but I can't. Anyway. Excellent improvement by the way. 4 seconds is significant, given the persistent effort put towards the fastest time possible by many others :)

A bit off-topic here, but flagitious, what does that horrifying C code in your sig do?

Having some severe desyncs when playing this movie with the latest FCE Ultra. (0.98.15) it's noticable right after the children get selected. It doesn't have problems with the older 0.98.12 that it was recorded in, however.

If you're going to do this game, what platform are you going to do it on? SNES or GBA? And personally, I find this FF game to be slightly less entertaining than, say Final Fantasy 3 or Chrono Trigger. Just personal opinion though. Almost fell asleep during that segmented 600 meg video set.

I watch RPG speedruns of FF and CT games because I played through them all many times. But seeing what took you days to complete on your own done in mere hours through such trickery as luck manipulation at high speed is the exciting part. It'll also teach you new things about the game that you probably never heard of (for example I never knew about the start + walk on enemies glitch.) The best part about the battles, I think, is the way you pretty much make desparation moves child's play. Oh yeah, and how you played around in the menus a bit :) Like the roulette cursor thing. I laughed out loud when I saw it.

Is there a reason why that putfile video appears to me as backwards and upside-down?

I hope by reaching the end you mean ending just after defeating number 024, cause that's when the movie stopped responding. Excellent run so far, it was enjoyable not only because you made very clever use of desparation attacks (multiple times on one battle, I might add) but I also didn't have to press TAB once the whole time. I went through two freaking bags of popcorn on this. And the Kutan bug is pretty funny. When playing this game through the first few times I never even thought that was possible. No desyncs and thoroughly optimized routes as far as I can tell. I definitely can't wait till you finish this. <--- Absolute yes vote coming from this satisfied viewer.

Way into the future. Heh, it plays for me. Just watched it. It certainly doesn't fall short on its graphics or animations, or even puzzles. Good job on the run. It was definitely entertaining. And this game is a somewhat lengthy one as well.

Funny it took more time to obtain the rom than it did to watch the movie. And I still don't get wtf this game is really about. :\ Regardless, this owns. It's entertaining and definately worthy of star status. Mad props.

I know this was a great work, but that constant zipping doesn't appeal to me much, neither the game does.
Why would you watch a movie of a game you don't like? I'm asking because I'm curious.
The game gets the living crap get beat out of it. That's why *I* still watched this submission. Even though I'm not a fan of the games themselves. It still owned, and it still got my 'yes' vote, not for what the GAME is, but for what the RUN is, and how it was done. That takes a lot of dedication I'm sure. <-- noob.

It's not aural if it's not stereo. Mono just annoys the crap out of me. That's why I MUST wear headphones while playing my GBA.

The speedrun was taken down, does anyone have the latest progress, or could you send me what was once on that page via e-mail? I'd greatly appreciate it. Btw, I just bought FF4 for the GBA, and I must say I'm quite impressed at the conversion... although slightly apalled at the stupid combat bug. It keeps messing with my head.

Could someone do up a full run for this game? I think that'd be equally interesting, personally. Grats on the 5 second timesave though.

"Drive-by taco'd!" Alright, I got three words for you to describe what I think of this movie. Oh, emm, jee. I've played through Chrono Trigger from start to end at LEAST 4 times, and I must say... that I've never been able to do it in a single day, much less a few hours daily a week... but seeing this game played in a single sitting beneath my tin of popcorn... Just makes you wonder what 2006 has in store for everyone :o

I was definately impatiently waiting for a run of Sonic 1. Loved it :D EDIT: You might want to check the filename. I don't know what a Hudgehog is.

This gets my patented "Oh God Yes". I LOVE this game. And the bugs are crazy, it's a scripting system so there's so much to be exploited :x There needs to be more games like these. With more exploitables!

I liked this run. Vectorman was one of the coolest Genesis games I owned, and I think this deserves consideration for publication :D

It's a hack. I see no problem there. In the rules, I take "hack" to mean minor modifications to a game's rom so that it's basically the same game with a few different features. Here, we've got almost an entirely new game, using only the base engine and graphics, and some of the game's physics and logic. Otherwise it's purely one on its own, and very well done I might add. I don't see why anyone has a problem with this. Just because it's using a hacked rom doesn't mean it should instantly be ruled out as a good run. It's about entertainment values here, at least in my opinion. And this one's way up there. EDIT: For the record, "demo" in this case is short for "demonstration" which is short for "this is what we can do with the engine and a crafty hex editor"

I had to watch this one again! :D Great hidden frog coin discoveries.. and I thought *I* knew where every one was.. (actually the second viewing was cause the WoW servers were down for maintainence... but it was still quite entertaining ^^) So once again.. Spezzafer, all your runs are amazing. This is no exception. Do some more fast games :)

When you're in the desert and you uncover one of the Shogun thingies with spears... during that battle, I noticed that you had hit one of the enemies with Mario and all of a sudden, he was interrupted and "LUCKY!" was displayed above his head. How'd you manage that one? (it happened multiple times.) Great run so far, I will come up with more as I see more of it. I'm very impressed at the manipulation of luck and the fact that you took NO damage up until the Cake in Merrymore. Excellent. EDIT 1: Fixed various typos.

Excellent run. This game beat the crap out of me when I was in my pre-teens. It's great to see an old classic pwnt like this. Long ending too XD YES.
