Update! Frame advanced to the first battle, Ken makes an encounter with a goblin! It takes about 2:30 to get to this point. Now to figure out if I should wipe the enemy out, or just fininsh the fight as quickly as possible! I would like to make a request: I'm good at playing games, but not at programming/reading code stuff soooooo.....if someone who is very good at figuring out what effects what, could they figure out the RNG for me? I know I could just sit there and cycle like 1000 times and try each one, but I really don't have that kind of time. And looking at FF6 and Earthbound runs, both authors found what caused what exactly and those came out pretty good. So...a little help....please?

I guess the only way to be absolutly sure which is better is to do all of the stages on the routes. Shoot while we're doing those, why not all of the levels? At 8 months per level....we'd be done in about a really long time!

Yeah, I've been sniffing FAQs for the past couple of days. It's just going to be very repetitive to find how many times I gotta cycle the RNG before I find the best conditions out of an encounter. Kinda like the Earthbound run.

Okay, this is going to be a manipulation NIGHTMARE! The RNG cycles per menu choice, but there seems to be very little that the RNG actually does in a battle, it seems like it is mostly based on character stats with a little random number thrown in for fun. In most cases I've seen, it means the difference between a few points of damage, but sometimes even after a long time of cycling, I still get the same result. The upside is that levels can be manipulated to giving max stats, so if I can get good things out of those then the actual fights shouldn't be too hard to get going in my favor.

That's exactly what I was thinking. BTW what path is this run doing?

So which route is better? When I was playing this game, I always took the second one and seemed to come off with some pretty good scores in the end.

It's a biggie, that for sure! I really won't be able to do much on this for about a week or so due to some weird work issues, but I am already looking into a few things already. One thing that I've noticed in both, the RNG only cycles once per manipulation. That is in the GBA one, pulling the menu up 3 times will produce 3 different results...but is that based on the time it's up? For the Genesis, is that the same, except I don't have to go into a menu to cycle it? Also, I think some things might not be manipulatable - like I was in a battle and I had a character do 2 damage, and would never do any more than that, no matter how many times the menu was pulled up!
Nothing quite like a bit of manly love.

Well...being the cheater that I am...I kinda do that anyways, and the luck thing seems to have little/no randomness in the GBA. Example: Hero attacks monster from the 4 different sides, each time it is the same outcome, reguardless of button pressing, moving or things like that. The only thing that seems to be manipulateable (is that even a word?) is how the enemy moves. But then again, I haven't tested EVERYTHING. Maybe pulling up a menu screen or something might work...... It would be nice to figure out the critical hits though....

ARISE! Old topic of long forgotteness! I recently got to playing through the GBA version of this game and started to think that it would be pretty cool to see/do a TAS of this...but I would like to get some opinions. Which of the 2 versions would be better to do? I think the GBA one because the text can be fast-forwarded through, the guy SPRINTS much faster and the game in a whole just seems to run faster... Anyways....so which one?

I would like to see this one done too. I played this one to death as a kid. I think I actually got good to the point where I could do this whole thing without dieing....which actaully did take a really long time to do....

Yeah, how'd you do that, was it just dumb luck or just really good luck manipulation?

So either way you're stuck! If you take the time to actually fight, then you gotta deal with the time to kill them + lag till they die and fade out. Also some of the weapons will lag a bit, like the good ol' Enemy Chaser.

Yeah, this Slug is pretty laggy at some points if you don't clean things up....and even then bad guys take forever to die!

I do realize all of that, I'm saying finish off the little cannons with the Slug, and then when the big guy comes out crash the Slug into THAT one and then proceed with grenade/big fireball of fat doom. Would that way have been faster?
