http://fceux.com/zip? A little out of date, but still newer than 2.0.2.

Again, I'm looking forward to the actual submission. Keep up the good work!

probably a hack glitch or something I pressed during the end credits but tails jumped off the scrap brain gravity spinning wheel the wrong way and was killed by lightning :D
I got the same glitch, didn't press anything. Although it may look bad in the first place, I think it should be kept as a little gimmick in the credits.

I agree with Paused on this. I've never managed to actually get 100% nor have I seen any non-totally-sucking-quality run on Youtube or the like of this game being beaten to the full extent.

feitclub, the video codec is x264, audio codec ogg vorbis (64 kbps). Maybe you need a codec pack of some sort. Media Player Classic is reported to play my mkv files just fine.

Flop, if your sound doesn't desync, that's great. Given that you do single pass encodes, turn down the video size and quality (to <50 kbps or so) and concentrate on the sound. If you can get me a sync audio stream (Vorbis 64kbps VBR) from start to finish, I'd be happy to replace the mkv with a syncing one if no objections from higher people pop up.

As said before, fast paced and nice to watch.

BTW, the .MKV has major sound desynch issues. each stage gets out of line, then catches up. I knew that before I watched it, but by world 3 marina plays almost 3-4 seconds in the stage before the sound re-aligns itself.
That's an emulation issue on both the Windows build (where the sound was recorded) and the Linux one (where I checked it), so you obviously can't help it.

Not that I don't trust the official documentation on this, but the document you linked also stated that 7 was the maximum for subq, although the manpage states it's 9. I will try it out something, though. Thanks for the link :)

Mencoder's manpage says that threads have "a slight penalty to compression quality" - can you actually see that penalty? I'm currently moving on a level where I can't touch the bitrate anymore (lower: looks crappy; higher: too big end result) and so was wondering whether this would be an option to at least try and speed up the whole process without destroying the quality achievements I got from already using bframes and such.

I hardly know this game, but I guess that the player's name is printed quite often. Thus a short name might definitely save some seconds.

Seems like your keyboard suffers as well... Try checking for CPU/memory usage on your system with taskmgr or ps. Maybe your system got infected somehow.

No, it's a different problem altogether. However, I may be trying to do another encode. Depends on multiple things, so don't take my word for it.

I'm sorry, nineko, but I don't get how you've complained about your encodes being worthless on IRC and now have uploaded another one.

The Windows build supports zipped ROMs, however I couldn't get zipped or gzipped ROMs to run so far. Is there some trick I'm missing or is it just simply not supported?

VirtualBox does not support hardware acceleration. Although the PSX did not filter textures that would actually require a real gfx chip, I seriously doubt anything 3D would want to run on VirtualBox.

It's just that I found it very strange for an 11 hour run to only have 4125 rerecords.

Does it just look that way or is the setting up smv file really almost 11½ hours long?

Microsoft distributes service packs for both 2.0 and 3.0 seperately via Microsoft Windows, so both versions are installed side by side.
