I'm not expecting any great news.... But does anyone happen to have the videos downloaded or the input file? I'm assuming not, which would be unfortunate because I saw this as part of the history of this game. Honestly a bummer... (Thiis post was made in this thread around 2010, for reference.)

I had a quick question though, why don't you use Luigi's special attack (knockback Bros.) on Cackletta's heart? Doesn't it do enough damage to be used?
I don't remember how much it does specifically, but it does about 17 damage. It's not a lot at all and is pretty much useless compared to Chopper Bros. does ~406 damage in one attack. Bounce Bros. would only lose time, in the end.

@Snodeca I will look into it when I can. I don't know what's the "new way" of doing it. Although it is also deprecated, you may try using: gui.DrawFinish() You may be better helped asking in the Bizhawk lua help or Bizhawk dev topic.
Hi. I simply deleted the line and didn't add anything new, and as far as I have tested, it works perfectly fine. If there are any issues with deleting it, I haven't encountered them whatsoever. So simply deleting the line should be fine.

Hi, this is a message primarily for Mugg. Could you possibly update the Lua script to remove line 7941 which has: gui.DrawNew("emu") Please? As of the latest Bizhawk update, this line is no longer needed, but it spams a message stating this line has to be removed due to it being deprecated, which causes the emulator to lag a little bit. I can not update the Lua page myself, so I have to ask you, thanks!

I am posting this here because I realized no one who hasn't worked on the Any% TAS will have this. For the LUA Script, download the source code for: https://github.com/Isotarge/ScriptHawk And run ScriptHawk.lua . It will show you speed values and position values, which is very useful for TASing, obviously. It does not include mini game speed values, you will still have to find those manually for each mini-game. I will soon upload a version of ScriptHawk.lua that also let's you use the European and Japanese versions of the game. Edit from the future: it seems to work fine for gyrocopter mini-games. Not for Expresso Racing though.

The only full (not-easy) TAS I have actually finished is [4048] GBA Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest by illayaya, Snodeca & EZGames69 in 50:11.76. This was a group collab but it was fun. I'm currently working on a Sonic Adventure 2: Battle "180 Emblem" run which is currently maybe 7% in? (According to the amount of levels and bosses left to do; 18 out of 280) I'm already prouder for the current progress I have for 180 Emblems than the DKC2GBA run. I'm pretty happy how it's turning out despite the lack of effort. I won't be submitting it purely because I know that it is not that good. But it's good enough for a first attempt as someone who sucks at TASing NGC. I'm currently encoding the two back-to-back bosses of the TAS lol. Currently 3:30 ahead of Talon's run, only being in Hero Story right now.[/submission]

No vote on entertainment. Since I voted based on entertainment, no vote. Too repetitive and boring lol But it still looks optimized. :)

Also, I want to apologize for being a dick. I should have just asked for an example but I wasn't thinking ahead. I hope you're not hurt by my posts ^^; (Although I personally still do think I'm bad at autoscrollers so that part wasn't a lie but that's subjective and thus shouldn't matter.) Ok yeah looking back at my first post I was definitely being a dick considering that's not how I normally am. Sorry ^^; You still did put some effort into the entertainment so my thank you was a genuine thank you, by the way. I was half-expecting not to receive anything back.

Nice, thank you! I decided to try and TAS it myself because I was bored anyway. Out of curiousity, made a comparison between my and your TAS. The audio is of my TAS. Link to video Needless to say, your "entertainment" section was, at least in my opinion, rather boring. Also, you lost 9 frames by entering the door so late at the end, so if I were to continue with your entertainment section I would have lost 9 frames. For reference, I don't have much experience with this game at all. I looked at other TASes and had some inspiration from it and I figured things out myself. You were not at a disadvantage of not knowing the game. Doesn't look like I will be asking you for the entertainment anymore! (:

Wouldn't that break the rest of the existing run from time point forward?

Not if it's done in an area such as an autoscroller.
Actually, it depends on the game. Some games, like Super Mario World, will have different RNG or lag patterns thanks to different inputs (or other factors like score, in SMW's case), even if you don't lose time. While other games, Donkey Kong Country 2 GBA coming to mind, will not desync whatsoever if you don't lose time.

Back in 2015 I tried to do traditional method but I had a lot of problems with keyboard ghosting to the point that I was forced to use TAStudio. I do, however, still use traditional method if I TAS a GameCube or Wii game. Mostly because there isn't a TAStudio for it lol. If it were not for keyboard ghosting, I don't mind doing traditional method. Dolphin has a virtual game pad thingy which gets rid of keyboard ghosting and it's not too bad I suppose.

Hello! I must say, this is quite the timing! I recently started working on a Super Mario World "No Fire Flower" TAS, and I just reached the autoscroller in the first castle level. You see, I am not good at entertainment. I always look so bad! :( So, I wanted to ask; could try to do it? It would be very appreciated! Here is the .bk2 file, if you need it: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/61545395818472878 It's at frame 10,000!

I downloaded this video to .mp3 and I am listening to this at 65% speed through Audacity while TASing Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Currently at Funky Kong's song :) (20 minutes in, meaning I have listened to it for about 27 minutes or something now? Lazy math with no calc) Link to video Also, albeit I am not listening to it right now, I sometimes listen to... Link to video ...this while TASing. Why? I don't know. But it somehow helps me focus and I like the video! (: Flight of the Zingers now. (22 minutes) It sounds good at 65%. Anyway, back to TASing.

(2/2) [3134] GB Pokémon: Blue and Red Version "Coop Diploma" by MrWint in 3:48:04.10 --- This TAS is just absolute art when it comes to routing. I can't not vote this. (1/2) [3415] SNES Donkey Kong Country "101%" by Tompa in 41:18.37 --- Incredible TAS IMO. (1/3) [2307] SNES Super Mario World "all 96 exits" by bahamete, kaizoman666 & Masterjun in 1:14:37.63 --- I always regarded this TAS and Majora's Mask as a classic. I would still absolutely enjoy watching both of these TASes. (1/1) [4086] Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "ring attack, newgame+" by Evil_3D, TheYogWog & kaan55 in 1:26:11.12 --- Much similar to Pokémon, but this TAS is much more action packed which makes it different to TAS. Lovely TAS. (1/3) [3878] GBA Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure by WarHippy in 33:31.87 --- This TAS is easily one of the most enjoyable TASes to watch IMO! --- (I would vote for [1851] N64 The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask by MrGrunz in 1:29:32.02 but it's already chosen thanks to TAS of the year lol) Edit: So I just saw [3358] GBC Pokémon: Yellow Version "arbitrary code execution" by MrWint in 05:48.28 and what the /? I'm ABSOLUTELY mind blown. Won't nominate it since it will already be a vote, but, wow.

I might just be doing something stupidly wrong and not even realizing it, but I'm a tad bit confused at the moment. So yesterday I started routing the mushrooms (On Google Sheets) (I also put the boss route on there so you can check that out too). Your two WIPs (before and after the skip in Hoohoo Mountain was discovered) also does not do the mushroom route that can be seen in your route notes you posted a while back, even though that was posted after the WIPs. When I reached sewers (ID 16 on the sheets to be specific), I remembered you had posted about a 50something frame detour in sewers. After doing my tests, I came up with a 41 detour, but you said 55 frame detour. I didn't understand why it was different, though I figured that I'm comparing to the wrong spot. I checked after the puzzle and I had come up with a 111 frame detour total, but you had a 130 frame detour. This time I'm sure that I'm comparing to the same mushrooms. I get a mushroom per 55.5 frames here, you get 65 frames. I did notice that your mushroom grabbing was more optimal than mine. I tried to copy your input (because I didn't understand why I wasn't able to do what you did, though I found where my fault was) and only saved a frame, so that becomes a 110 frame detour or 55f/mush for me. It is still 10 frames faster than your detour though. I don't understand whatsoever how you could be TWENTY whole frames faster than my attempt without grabbing the mushrooms. What I have been doing is this (though you should be able to tell from my sheets): FIRST, I TAS a room without collecting any mushrooms. I reach a specific point in which both collecting and not collecting would be the same (usually the first frame of fading out when I leave the room). I put in the details that I need to put in in the sheets (room group ID (for organization purposes), room ID, how many frames it takes to get there. THEN, if there is only one mushroom, I redo the room but I grab the mushroom. I reach that same point. Once I do, I put the necessary details (now also including the delta (no mushroom MINUS mushroom) and how many mushrooms I got, separating all 4 sorts. If there are multiple, unless there's no point to testing individually, I usually do both individually and together. The sheets then automatically does the necessary calculations so I can accurately check, keeping in mind ultra mushrooms & max mushrooms output a higher amount of damage than normal & super mushrooms, what is technically the best for each room if I were to grab at least one mushroom. My main question is: exactly how were you routing mushrooms? I can not grasp why your detours are so different than mine. I couldn't have been 20 frames faster, or even in Koopa Cruiser, 30 frames. For the record, my plan from here on out is to test the detours for the remaining mushrooms, then play through the entire game whilst not getting any blocks (and removing the mushrooms I get in my inventory from stardust fields fights), and reach Fungitown with the current TAS route. Check how many coins I have & what items I will automatically have, check for how much I can sell them, list down how many mushrooms I need to buy & the detour for those, then start the potentially necessary detours so that I can output a certain amount of mush damage (16 mush damage by the time I reach Hermie III and 20 mush damage for Popple (and 22 for Iggy)). The final step, how I would check which combination of mushrooms & items is the best to get, I have no idea. I'm not there yet, though. For reference, here is the .tasproj in which I was testing the mushrooms after the puzzle in sewers (excuse the lazy Discord post) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/668480207958704158/671156543173033985/0015_sewers_after_puzzle_room.tasproj Sorry if this post is a little unorganized/all over the place ^^;

I'm not sure if this should be published. It was made in a very short amount of time plus it is using a deprecated emulator. Not only that, but the TAS is so dull and boring. I'm ahead by half a second using a different emulator, but most of it is purely loading differences. Link to video This is something I just quickly put up in maybe 2 hours, and I know I took a slow route at some point in the castle level. Just wanting to share that it can be more interesting lol. I'm likely not going to finish my own TAS. Userfile for Bizhawk 2.3.1 BSNES core: User movie #http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/60772515759822157 I voted meh. It could definitely be more entertaining, though.

Did you seriously just replace Maru's judging notes? Also, Pancake's encode is broken. #6470: Chutacoacko_Playz's SNES Kirby Super Star "fastest softlock" in 00:32.28 Note how it says "This is your last warning." (At the bottom of submission description)

What does it matter if there's a synced video? If no one can play it back, the TAS can not be published. The publisher would have to take the .svm file for themselves, find a correct ROM or dump it themselves (LOL), make sure it syncs. Then they do whatever they do with the run and emulator in question, in this case Snes9x 1.60, to create a high quality encode. Hold up... Crap! Publisher can't publish! Uh oh. This post was written (NOT POSTED!) before the submission was cancelled, don't attack me. I'm still going to post it.

Okay, didn't notice the Game Version, I'm too noob at this site apparently. Last comment because I have stuff to do. The "changes" in your post @Chuta, there are no changes in there. I only see a tutorial, an action replay code and something else unrelated to game updates. Article is from 2019. Game was updated in 2020. Not only that, but that article links directly to the site that hosts the ROM, lol.

Please don't quote my entire post. You didn't clarify that the movie is for 1.0. How in the actual name of Satan are we supposed to know it's for 1.0 if it has never been clarified in the submission text?

You should note that this movie file only works on version 1.0. I am unable to find v1.0 anywhere. It desyncs on v1.1.

If it doesn't get published, it will go to "Gruefood Delight" aka it will either be cancelled or rejected. If you don't want to get banned, don't submit a TAS that will get rejected and especially do not submit someone else's TAS if you're not an author. You can help them submit something, but don't submit someone else's TAS.
