Thanks. Well, actually I'm using a variant of FBA called Final Burn Alpha Shuffle. It didn't come with a .chm file. I also have three other questions. 1) What is "always process keyboard input" for? I can't figure this option out. 2) Is there a recommended video mode (Direct3D, DirectDraw, etc) to help movies syncing? also, should I leave vsync and triple buffering disabled or enabled? 3) I heard starting the movie from save state generally helps syncing. Is that true?

There's an option on the emulator that you can leave either checked or unchecked: "restore full state on load". The emulator doesn't explain what that is for and I also googled everywhere but didn't see it documented anywhere on the internet. What is that option for?

I tried to load some iso/cue games into PCEjin but seems like the emulator only supports bin/cue. I have a bunch of PCE-CD games here but they're all iso/cue format. Is there a way to convert them into bin/cue somehow? I'd really like to make them work on PCEjin if possible.

Seems like it was version 1.1 I'm not sure if I'm doing everything right, I have no experience with this emulator at all. But what I did is, first I visited this page: http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/Mednafen.html and then I downloaded the mednafen found on this link: https://files.tasvideos.org/emulatordownloads/mednafen-rr/mednafen-rr-1.1-win32.zip Then I grabbed the mednafen.exe file that came on it and put it inside the MedGuiR folder. Then ran MedGuiR.exe.

When I run the MedGuiR.exe, this error happens: Followed by this: My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits, if you need to know. How can I fix this problem?

Yesterday I tried to run PCE-CD Strider Hiryu on BizHawk and got this screen: I could not get past it no matter what I pressed. So I googled a bit and found this information: http://lscmainframe.kontek.net/games/strider/
The only problem with this game, aside from having to duck to kill the wolves in Siberia, is that you have to have the Arcade Card in order to play this game on the Duo. If you don't have the card, it displays an error message that's something like an in-game mini-comic. Here's what it says in English (translation courtesy of JSB-kun): Hiryu: "Here we go! Grand Master..." Hiryu: "Ah! There's not enough memory!" Grand Master: "GWAHAHAHAHA!!! (sadistic laugh) Hiryu! Without an Arcade Card you can't go any further!" Hiryu: "So, if only I had a Arcade Card I could.... GHUUUUUUU!!!"
Seems like Arcade Card emulation is needed to make this game work. Is it already available on BizHawk? if so, then how can I make it work?

It's Hourglass-r81. Anyway, I'm a derp. All I had to do is play as read only normally then switch to read+write during the replay. Seems like you can't choose read+write right off the bat. This is the first time I'm using Hourglass for real and the program is syncing perfectly so far, but it keeps crashing randomly and it's driving me nuts. Is there not a way to prevent those crashes? I tried disabling multi-threading but it didn't fix the problem (and it kills the game's audio too...)

I'm trying to make a movie here with Hourglass and when I try to replay the movie on read+write mode, Hourglass doesn't allow it. It automatically switches to read only. How can I solve this problem? (I'm using VMware with Windows XP, btw).

I wish this emulator could at least .avi dump, but it can't even do that. So it's useless for TASing. There's no way to record gameplay footage unless if you use an external program like FRAPS or something.

uhhh. well, that's weird. i've never heard of dxwebsetup failing even a _manual_ install. There may be something devious wrong with your system. I wish you had tried my other troubleshooting steps first. But at least, can you tell me which "aio installer from sereby corporation" URL you used so if anyone else has this problem, we can try it?
Seems to be fine now after the aio installation. I'm yet to see any problems arising. aio download: http://www.computerbase.de/downloads/systemtools/all-in-one-runtimes/ Sereby's website: https://www.sereby.org/

So, I downloaded the aio installer from Sereby Corporation and ran it. Now BizHawk and everything else is working perfectly. Apparently I was missing many things required to make the emulator work. That program saved my life. ^^

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I ran Bizhawk prereq 1.3 and it apparently installed everything without problems. Then I ran BizHawk and it didn't work, then I grabbed dxwebsetup.exe from the official Microsoft site and installed it normally. Again, BizHawk didn't work. I don't know why this is happening.

v1.1.6 works on my laptop but not on my desktop computer (the one I actually use for gaming). It nags about some Direct 3D 9 thing. Here: http://i.imgur.com/Ea97gx3.png I tried reinstalling Direct 3D 9 and all but it didn't solve the problem. Is there really no way to download older versions anymore? EDIT: oops, Nach ninja'ed me.

https://github.com/TASVideos/BizHawk/releases I can download the latest build just fine, but I need the previous versions too. I only see download links for their respective source codes, not the builds. How can I get the previous versions now?

So, save states don't even work at all on a non XP OS? That would kill the whole point of using Hourglass for me since when I do my movies I pretty much only use save states and on some occasions slowdown or frame advance. But that's it. I don't really use any of the other emulation tools. I guess I will have to find a way to operate on XP then.

Say, from you guys' tests so far, is Hourglass more compatibility friendly to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1? I'm planning to get a new computer and I want the best OS for Hourglass that's not windows XP. (XP is too outdated and the RAM limit is low).

So, I downloaded the .xrns, put it in an empty folder, pressed "Export XRNS file" on neshawk and selected the aforementioned folder as destination. Got this error:

What should I do now?

As of version 1.11.1, I saw that BizHawk is able to rip music through neshawk. But the problem is that I'm stuck on the step of creating a .xrns file to be able to do rip them. I got the Renoise program and spent nearly 2 hours trying to make sense out of it but the program is a mess. The fact I suck royally at "music theory" doesn't help at all either.
BizHawk wrote:
How to use: Create a file called template.xrns in the directory you are going to export to. This tool will load that and replace the patterns with the logged data. Make sure the template has 5 tracks. There should be pulse waveforms in instruments (0,1,2,3), noise in instrument 4, and a triangle in instrument 8.
I was wondering if someone can provide a pre-made .xrns file already structured for NES music ripping, so people can simply grab it if they want to rip the music? I don't think everybody out there knows how to work with Renoise. I've already asked two friends of mine to try helping me but they were not able to do so. Since the same .xrns structure can be used for any NES game, just one file would be enough.

I'd like to use BizHawk to do some palette swapping on NES ROMs. I'm guessing the emulator's built-in Hex Editor can do this task, but I didn't have much luck trying to get the job done. For example, let's use RockMan 2 as test: I opened the PPU Viewer with the rom, then opened the Hex Editor, then went to "Options>Memory Domains>PALRAM. Let's say I want to change Air Man's stage background from blue to red. To do that, I know I need to edit the first palette address (which is "21" on this case) to "05". Basically, address 21 is a shade of blue on the NES palette chart, and address 05 is a shade of red. This is how the screen would look like (edited through Photoshop): But how can I actually edit the 21 into 05? I tried poking the address but the emulator won't let me change it. What should I do?

The whole thing sounds rather complicated. I wish you good luck and thank you! It's exciting to see Hourglass isn't dead yet.

I can confirm it's not working on my end either. I even talked about it with Mothrayas through Skype some days ago, before noticing this thread. I'm hoping it will get fixed eventually. The game is great.

@phoenix1291: Well... all I remember is that I tried pretty much every combination while dumping Megamari. But the audio would always get completely bugged. Sorry for the late answer, I only noticed new replies now.

I own a desktop computer and a laptop, so maybe I could do this trick. Can you tell me more about it? How does that work?

Woah. I only noticed this topic now. This is pretty exciting. I'm not extremely familiar with c64 (never owned the computer), but I know there are good games on it. And the more cores supported on BizHawk, the merrier. :D I wish you good luck on this! ^^
