I could not care less if this will be the last generation or not, to be honest. I particularly don't enjoy most of the modern games and I'm perfectly fine simply playing the old ones. I have enough of them to keep me entertained for 1 life time. Most games nowadays are far too complex for my tastes. I no longer have patience for them since I'm already becoming a little old. I don't have the same energy and hype I used to have when I was younger. So nowadays I have far more fun with simplicity, which is what older games generally offer.

It happened so suddenly that I didn't even know how to react. RIP, Satoru Iwata. You'll be missed.

It's fine, I came with a solution. I simply put the movie to playback while recording a new movie at the same time. I played the movie until the point of desync and then remade the movie from that point and onwards. I only needed to beat two bosses to clear the game anyway, so now I have a fully working movie again. ^^

well... I'm pretty certain I haven't changed anything. I'm using the same MAME version, the same ROM and the same .inp file as before. I never really opened the .inp file and changed anything inside of it so I dunno what's happening. Can you test the .inp in your end? Please tell me if it will desync for you too.

This is the movie in question: https://www.dropbox.com/s/76chh95qzb16wsa/daimakaifile.inp?dl=0 The game is Daimakaimura (rom name = daimakai). I made the movie with the official MAME 0.162. It used to sync from beginning to end, but now it goes out of sync right after I pick the magical weapon at the end of stage 5 (2nd loop). I even uploaded the synced movie to my channel while it was still syncing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3UoltbwQ3A What happened to the movie? It used to work perfectly. How can I make it work again?

I don't see anything red. I just see pink, which it seems your OS is using to display the row of a list that you have selected. In both cases you selected the Platform row, so it's pink,.
My OS uses blue to display a row that I have selected. I have nothing selected in either of the pics. To prove you, I made a new pic where I'm selecting the row "Frames" http://i.imgur.com/E3hfUc1.png As you can see, it's blue. So the red (pink) display on "Platform" is a thing with BizHawk itself.

Thank you, I got it working! ^^ But there's something that's bugging me. http://i.imgur.com/NdEdQ9T.png http://i.imgur.com/T8jD0T4.png On the first image, it says "Platform: SMS" in red. While it's supposed to be GG. And on the second image, it says "Platform: PCECD" in red. Despite getting the platform right, the name is still in red and that gives me the impression something is wrong there. Both movies are working perfectly though. But still, what's up with all of that?

Have you tried File>Movie>Import Movies? It contains a bkm>bk2 converter that may work with your Game Gear bkm. If not, you should be able to convert it manually to the new format. I've done so with a ColecoHawk movie using the Replace function in Notepad and Notepad++.
I've tried converting. It gives me the same exception. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with this "Replace function". I'm not the best at Notepad/Notepad++ ... what should I do?

My BizHawk 1.5.3 Game Gear .bkm does not run on BizHawk 1.9.4. When I try to run it there, I get this exception:

The game is Halley Wars. What should I do?

And what sort of bugs/glitches could inaccurate emulation of "3-high" cause?

Okay so, since I was the one that made this thread, I might as well get a bit deeper into it because I'm curious about a few stuff. I was analyzing this page, and I see that snes9x 1.51 failed on some tests. I took the opportunity to learn a bit more about them over the web, and this is what I think they're trying to mean: Mouse Electronics Test / Mouse Button Test / Mouse Cursor Movement Test: Seems to be obvious enough. It has to do with the games that use mouse (like Mario Paint). Failure on this emulation will cause the mouse to act incorrectly. Color Test: snes9x doesn't emulate all color palettes accurately enough to pass the test? APU: Audio Processing Unit. Inaccuracy on this emulation will cause the audio and sound effects to play imperfectly? SNES OAM Test (3-high): no idea. Can someone make this one clear to me? SNES ADC SBC: From what I found, seems to have to do with latency. Does it have to do with how accurately the emulator emulates the lag from games?

smh. I thought I made it clear I was speaking about myself and not in the name of the tasvideos community. Yeah, I know how things work here, but since I'm not going to submit my videos to this site nor to longplays, then I see no reason to care about accuracy so hard. I work independently.

Yeah, I noticed it. Even if you unthrottle the emulator, it still runs really slowly. I'm rather casual and don't care much about accuracy, so I will stick to snes9x to make my movies since it works much faster for me. The only thing that actually bothers me are nasty graphical or audio glitches, I don't really mind if the emulator has less lag than it's supposed to have on X game or stuff like that.

Thank you very much, guys. Those links are very informative and now I could finally see more examples of emulation inaccuracy. Seems to be true then. Bsnes is definitely more accurate, but at least snes9x can still emulate almost all games just fine.

Can someone give me a list of them or at least some notable examples? Because I'm seeing a lot of "bsnes is the only accurate emulator, the rest sucks" everywhere but yet nobody tries to make a comparison between the emulators. The only notable snes9x innacuracy I've seen so far is that it can't emulate the plane shadow on Air Strike Patrol. If bsnes is so infinitely better, then I'd like enough proof.

Can the official MAME 0.161 record inputs? I downloaded it and I don't see an option to record inputs there at all. I even read the documentations and could not find anywhere saying how to do that. At least MAMEUI32 can record inputs despite how bad it may be.

I'd like to know exactly what makes MAMEUI32 so bad to be called a "terrible piece of shit".

Sorry, but I don't really understand. I fail at cmd. mz taught me how to dump .avi from mame through cmd on another thread, but I'd like to know what I need to type on cmd to playback movies now. Maybe if I do the command to playback input and then to dump .avi, it could work... but I'm not sure. Sometimes I wonder why you can't simply playback input and dump at the same time. Every emulator I've seen that has those two features can do both at once.

I'm with a really silly problem here. I have a movie on mameui32 0.146 and I want to record an AVI out of it. But seems like mame can only either playback input or record AVI. It can't do both functions at the same time. Here is a pic: I can only either choose "Playback Input" or "Play and Record uncompressed AVI output", not both. Is there not a way to select Playback Input, and then the option to record AVI? It's just that I want to dump the movie that I have saved.
