So, I've decided I'm gonna TAS a game, but I wanna start with a relatively unoptimized one, or one that has yet to be TASed. Does anyone have a recommendation? Ideally one that can be done on BizHawk.

You use your things called the save states, and the load states, and the frame advances.
Number One: I put my questions in the Gens thread cause, ya know... IT'S RELATED TO GENS. Number Two: When I tried loading a state while recording, it screwed up the recording.

I like the 3DO version bc it is easier to run. It runs better for me than the PS1/Saturn versions.

OK, so, for everyone that uses Gens for Genesis TASing: How do you make your Genesis TASes? I personally put the game in slow mode (about 25-33%) before I start recording.

As examples for the porting process: 3DO: opera-libretro (LibRetro Port of 4DO) is the only option. Everything else is either bad, closed source and great (Phoenix) or bad and closed source. Dreamcast: DEmul is the best option to take, however there is a big, big "closed source" next to it. Everything else doesn't match it unfortunately. (Basically Dreamcast should be shelved for future developments)
Huh. OK. Maybe I'll try running Gex with the Opera Libretro core then.

TBH, I really want to see a Dreamcast or maybe even 3DO core in BizHawk. The names could be DreamHawk and 3DOHawk.

Be aware that gens's emulation of the Genesis is not as accurate as the Genesis core in BizHawk; this translates to gens runs seeming faster because there is less lag.
...I use Kega Fusion when I'm just playing games, but for TASing I use Gens. That's how I emulate Genesis.

Actually I wasn't intending to make a multi-game TAS, that would be WAY too complicated for me. He simply pointed it out, and I fixed it. He wasn't "Telling me not to follow my passion".

Ok, edited it so it doesn't look like I'm doing a multi-game TAS.

Uh... I'm not making a multi-game TAS, I just thought I'd mention it when I found out.

I found out that with background input enabled, Gens essentially lets you play multiple games at once! At the time of writing this post, I'm playing around with the Classic Sonic trilogy!

OK, so, remember how I brought up maybe doing a demonstrational TAS of just Green Hill? Well, I thought I'd publish what I did in act 1 to User Files/WIPs so you can get an idea of how optimized I am planning on my full Green Hill run being. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/61570963348780624
