The game itself was quite dull. Though some nice damage boosting and the stair jumping weighs up for the run. I vote yes.

This sounds kickass, I want an .avi. :( Actually when trying this WIP out I managed to get past the bomb shop desync by playing the movie at 10% speed, though it desynced again at the superslides. Oh well, I'll wait for bkDJ.

Despite it being a huge improvement, I wasn't entertained at all. I never watched Saturn's movie so I never voted there, but eh. Pending between yes and meh, mostly because the same damn move was repeated throughout the whole movie (with a quite annoying sound I might add), and then some boring chattering. I'll just vote yes for the nice improvement. Congratulations on your first TAS too.

I'm quite certain BLJing into the moat door is impossibe. There is a loading trigger on it too, and you can't open doors underwater. :(

Isolated Warrior is a scrolling shoot-'em-up for the NES. The game spans 7 levels, each with a mini-boss and a boss. Collecting different power-ups in the levels will make your weapons better. The character has three weapons that can be used:
The GameFAQs guide wrote:
Both the straight (L) and Spread (W) have 5 levels, to get them a level higher you have to get the (L) or (W) power up, or you have to go into a secret warp hole that upgrades them totally. Your spread gun is pretty useless throughout the whole game. Although you can still use it on groups of easy enemies but its better to use the straight shooting gun. When you level up the spread-mode it will go in more directions. Level 1 - 1 Direction Level 2 - 2 Directions Level 3 - 3 Directions Level 4 - 4 Directions Level 5 - 5 Directions Your straight gun is more powerful than your spread gun, it should be used when there are enemies coming from behind and on bosses, when your weapon goes up a level, it will shoot faster and it will shoot backwards. Level 1 - 1 beam forward Level 2 - 1 beam goes faster and 1 backwards Level 3 - 2 beams forwards and 1 backwards Level 4 - 2 beams forwards and 1 backwards Level 5 - 3 beams forwards and 2 beams backwards ===== Bombs ===== You can have up to five levels with bombs and every time you get it a level higher it will go in a extra direction. Level 1 = 1 Direction Level 2 = 3 Directions Level 3 = 5 Directions Level 4 = 8 Directions Level 5 = Bombs will kill everything on the screen, after you used it, it will go back to level 4.
As said, the spread gun isn't that useful as it always fires at the same speed. I'm sure it can be useful in some spots though, but I am yet to discover where. Here is a quick test run of level 1. Note that only the beginning is TASed. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/615208087/Isolated%20Warrior%20%28U%29.fcm Any interest in this? I'd want to go for a high-score run, as the game always scrolls at the same speed no matter what you do. At first I was thinking an all-kills run would be good, but I soon realized this was impossible as there are infinate amount of enemies in some areas.

Usually voting No means you don't want to see the run published (as it clearly didn't appeal to you).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMk1dNemgqk As the video shows, it is possible to BLJ on it. However I'm doubtful that you can reach the top of the rising platforms with it. A bit of experimenting wouldn't hurt.

Posting in a legendary thread. I like how this is perfect in every goddamn way. BLJing through Boswer 1 was clearly one of the highlights of the run. Congratulations on creating such a beautiful TAS and for the first time breaking the 16-star limit. ;) Good work guys, you really deserve this. Do I need to mention this is a yes vote?

Agreed on the credits, the movie time doesn't matter, but seeing a ridiculous score on there will make it really entertaining. Was the JPN rom absolutely needed? The submission made it sound like "JPN was used cause it was easier" and that's something we want to avoid. Regardless, it's a fabulously entertaining run and a "Yes" from me in spite of any issues.
Actually it was mentioned in the thread that Kirby does more damage in the JPN version. EDIT: Okay, watched it, and I loved it. Crazy fast movement and bossbattles. At times I couldn't keep up with where Kirby was going. I found it kind of funny when Shadow Kirby (or whatever his name is) appeared, the battle music barely started before he was gone again. ;) Nothing to complain about - a quality run.

http://tasvideos.org/RoutePlanning.html Route planning is usually much easier if you know the game well. Do you? If not, you'll probably need to play through the game once without frame advance or slowdowns to familiarize yourself with it.

I don't know about 3, but 1 and 2 are very similar to the corresponding Country games. I don't know if they are direct ports, but still similar. I guess they would make good TASes anyway.

Would just like to promote this game by Ultimortal, made in GameMaker. As any puzzle game, this REALLY gets hard at the later levels. I myself never beat the two last ones at elite. :(
Game description: This puzzle game is controlled with the keyboard and mouse - the keyboard moves the character, while the mouse is used to place and destroy bricks. The first set of levels are built as tutorials, to ease you into the game one step at a time, and the help file tells you everything that the tutorials don't. The game has over 50 levels of increasing difficulty, and there is also a user-friendly level editor where you can create, edit and play your own levels. Thanks to Pug Fugly for the wonderful music used in the game!
Try it out! Download link is in here.

JXQ: Okay so I just watched it, and the game audio desyncs somewhere around the boulder maze. Still watchable though, but it gets annoying.

Actually I think my story is somewhat similar to roberts'. I saw speezafer's 16-star TAS, came here, was not very interested in anything shown, and left. I came back a bit later (I think this actually was because the site popped up in my mind all of a sudden, and I decided to check it out once more). I was disappointed that I couldn't vote for any runs, so I registered and started posting. I quickly became interested in TASing myself, and yeah.

The controls are more forgiving. The graphics and sound are much better. Different ending text (that isn't Engrish). New battle music against Dedede. A few boss changes (the Turtle is gone, I think he was replaced with the Elephant) and a few tweaks here and there. And other minor tweaks here and there.
I don't think this all justifies a new TAS.

Good job figuring out that the diving glitch works even better exiting talon trot. Speaking of which, did we ever figure out whether or not the "Jiggy dance dive" works?
bkDJ wrote:
JSmith, I don't think that's possible due to the fact that once you hit a jiggy your x and y velocity become zero, so I don't know how you could clip the pixel and then fall. a jiggy that is in the process of bouncing (let's call it moving) does not have this effect. so there are a few jiggies where this case may be of interest... But I did discover something interesting that was overlooked! If you fall into the water before doing a jiggy dance you are holding a jiggy. we thought that this was useless because it just meant once you reached land you would dance anyway. guess what. you can swim underwater like normal, and then one simple hop out of the water and back in (right away or whenever) collects the jiggy for real. Also the hop will have zero x and y velocity interestingly enough. In the video I made, I collected a jinjo jiggy so I had to wait for the jinjo to disappear before I would even be able to dance anyway, which makes me suspect that if a jiggy is close enought to a ledge, that you could hit it and fall into the water and it would be immediate collection. the reason I don't move in the water is because I can't: banjo is waiting for the jinjo to disappear so he can dance. http://tas.monotoli.org/mov/bk/demo/bk-jiggyantics.mkv
