This is irrelevant to the movie, but I saw you mention in the twitch chat that you've never played this game. I'll just say, I highly recommend it! It's a very fun, extraordinarily well-made, rock solid platformer (when not being ripped to shreds by Messrs. Baxter, Carl Sagan, and NxCy); one of the all-time great games IMHO :)

Quality run, so I vote yes. I third Vykan's request; there is so much that happens, I'd love to see your strategies/tricks/routes/other thoughts as the run goes on.
IMO long runs like this are vastly improved by an inclusion of notes/subtitles/commentary that capture the reasons for doing something, and how that helps achieve a larger goal -- otherwise many subtleties can be lost as you continue to watch and try to understand on your own how everything is structured and what's going to happen next.
Or maybe I'm just a little slow!

Andypro,
the factor is, "Will it be entertaining?" To me, a score run sounds dull. While a flat speed run sounds exciting.
I recommend looking up some videos of high score records, in this case. For simpler levels, the goal remains "get to the end as fast as possible". But there are plenty of levels that provide risk/reward tradeoffs that, if taken, are often more harrowing and impressive than the standard M.O. of barreling at the goal.
This is one of the best examples I can think of, A11 (the guitar-shaped level). The "speed only" run would just make a beeline for the warp on the right and would be 90% just holding forward; whereas the high score run, well:

(no, I have NO IDEA how packattack did this without tools)
Maybe someday I oughta try my hand at this TASing thing and make a score run if no one else will... :p

I enjoyed watching this. I like the deliberate "hacked-together" aesthetic and I'm all sorts of impressed by how well Anamanaguchi translates onto the Z80. Yes vote from me.

FWIW I would totally watch a playaround or superplay or whatever TAS of any Rush game's grand prix. The games had so many damn shortcuts everywhere that it seems like it wouldn't be too tricky to keep each lap interesting. Though I'm not sure how open to racing playarounds the site is. *shrug*

The SNES Umihara Kawase runs are some of my favorite on this site. This movie exchanges some speed for adorable graphics, and otherwise is frighteningly like its forebearers. Easy yes from me :)

I flipped a coin to decide between Chrono Trigger and Aria of Sorrow. Both were completely fantastic, and I couldn't bring myself to choose.

A few years ago Genisto had a playaround video of Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA that I really enjoyed. I guess playarounds are still a bit frowned upon, especially ones that are 40+ minutes, but I personally was consistently entertained for the majority of the movie. A lot of people at the time were not though, and this is probably still the case. This is the only movie I can remember that I was disappointed was not published, I think.

Count me in as one of the ones who is interested in this. I wasted full weeks of my life in high school playing the flash version (ended up beating every episode except 86-89). This will probably be a challenge to optimize well, though. I haven't tried this version yet.
Hmm, do I have any knowledge of use? I don't think so, but we'll try anyway.
Jumping when moving up an incline, depending on your speed and such, can launch you quite a bit higher than a standard jump. There are plenty of user-made levels, and probably several official ones in N+, that require use of this, but just in case you didn't already know.
Also, in a tight vertical corridor, you can just hit the jump button a bunch to rapidly wall-jump. It's actually possible to get going so fast that you smash into the ceiling and die if you're not careful!

I feel like I've been following this forever :) No brainer for me; one of my favorite games of all time, and you certainly did it justice. Lots of surprises, lots of speed, and entertainment enough to keep me glued to the screen the whole way through. Great job!
