Description suggestion: Fast completion of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie's Double Trouble, without bothering to find DK or Bonus-Level coins. This run uses warp barrels in first two worlds. The in-game time is 00:42 (42 minutes), and the game completion percentage is 43%. We recommend reading author's comments too.

Okay, are there any W-barrells in any of the other levels outside world 1 & 2? I want to see you play a few levels without using W-barrels, you know :)
no, but I think the quickest one is going to be Parrot Chute Panic..

nitsuja, I'm having some problems with mupen64 It is just closing without any reason, I have a lot of RAM and my CPU don't get even 30%, but it stills closes, and I don't know why. It closes every time in the same parts of a movie. In Ocarina of Time movies, it closes right after Navi knock her head(?) in the fence, before entering Link's house. In some Mario64 movies, it closes when mario gets the Big Bomb-Omb boss in first stage. I'm pretty sure that it isn't a RAM or CPU problem, what could it be? thanks in advance

Just some nice positions to screenshots (but that's not MY decision, just some positions that I found cool): 36818 20854 105629 118413 144753 That's it ^^

thanks well I don't know why but DKC and DKC2 seems much smoother than DKC3, I think that is because of Diddy. Your run is very nice until now, I've liked a lot. Using Dixie in Kleever (2nd boss) was a wise decision :) I liked one of your tricks: how do you do the cartwheel/spin technique twice in a row, without stopping? I doesn't knew that this was possible. off-topic: nice avatar :D liked the idea, I'm going to use one from DKC series too

desynched at first boss You are using a diferent ROM than Blackpearl's or my videos, I think that it is "Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.0) [!]" right? Oh, and by the way have you watched my vids?

First, I would like to say congratulations, it is a wonderful run, and I'm voting YES. But I'm going to be very critic in this post. Please note that your job is excellent, worth publishing, and I never could make something like that, but I need to post my opinnion, right? (I have a bad english, try to not pay attention to it) Good things: The Warp barrels are very nice for people that doesn't know them, and the way you get to them is very nice also, it don't got boring for me. Arich battle was VERY nice, much faster than I thought it was going to be, you don't even let she throw her poison! In world three, both waterfall stages were nice, and for god sake you didn't use Ellie! That doesn't seemed like an option for me! Kreeping Klasps were very nice too, don't know how the piranha didn't get you. Low-G Labyrinth was very nice, in fact, all Squawks stages were very nice in this run. Kaos first battle was nice and funny, I've liked that :) K3 was the best one, you made it perfectly in all stages, Barrel Drop Bounce was incredible, and the Snowman battle was very nice too. Razor Ridge was fun too, again you didn't used all animals and Kong-Fused Cliffs was funny. Barbos were the best boss fight, you certainly did things that made me impressed there. The final world, as usual, is one of the best, always, because the stages are harder. The final boss was awesome. Bad things: I don't know why, but this run doesn't seem to be the fastest possible. Did you used frame advance when selecting on map screen? Because it seems that you lost some frames there. Maybe it is the fastest possible and maybe you have pressed the buttons at the first frame possible, but it doesn't seem so. At Belcha battle, the second bug is throwed much smoother than the first. The water stages doesn't seem that smooth, and sometimes I think you shouldn't use Enguarde Charge (button A) an you use it, and vice-versa. In the Ripsaw Rage I had in my mind that if you knew the path of the stage you could finish in seconds, but there is a limit =/. I also thought that you could play a bit more in this stage, since it is auto-scrolling. At the Snowman, after his first snowball-from-the-hat-combo you let he laugh a little before hitting him, but on the other combos you don't. Maybe you lost some time there or you just can't hit him before that? In Creepy Caverns, you could have used Kiddy, you needed to stop to dodge the big blue monsters. Maybe all this "mistakes" that I've said aren't actually mistakes, and it is not possible to pass trought this areas faster, but I have to comment this, they have caught my attention.

After some emulator problems (lol), I've done finishing another just-for-fun-with-SRAM stage, this time Barrel Bayou (World 3 Stage 1). I'm not sure if the route I take is the fastest one, but at least it seems to be. Maybe I should have switched to Dixie near the end, she can skip a barrel, but I thought the switching would be slower. This movie was recorded at 35ms mostly, some parts with 70ms, so it is far from frame perfect. Again, this is not a WIP and I am not going to make a run of this game. So here it is: BARREL BAYOU.smv YouSendIt link dehacked link PS: dehacked's hosting is down atm so I've upload it to yousendit. I had also uploaded my last file (PARROT CHUTE PANIC.smv) to yousendit and the message above is edited with the yousendit link.

I think I know what the problem is. You have to make sure "read-only" is NOT checked when you load the movie, or else it won't save your movie file even if you press the read-only hotkey to switch to read+write mode. If you have it checked and switch out of read-only mode, it will only pretend to be recording, so to recover your movie you have to play it back again without read-only checked and then load your last save state and stop the movie. Quitting the emulator or loading another ROM is the same as choosing Stop Movie, btw, so I don't think that was the problem.
Bingo! All the 3 times I've opened in read-only mode and then switched to read+write mode.. That was my mistake.. Thanks a lot nitsuja! And thanks to everyone that answered.. I've done this mistake because when I first recorded, on the "Browse..." screen to open the file I checked the read-only box, but on the "Play Movie" screen I did not.. So I thought that it was opening in Read-Only mode, but it wasn't..

Are you sure you were recording this whole time? Yes, when I save state during recording it says "Movie Snapshot 0x" and when I load it says "Movie Re-record 0x", or something like that. Are you sure that you are playing the correct file? Yes, it is the same ROM. Plus, when I load state it actually re-record the movie, instead of saying "not from this movie file" or something like that. Here is what I do: I load the ROM, wait about 10 secs, play the smv file in read+write mode, save state right before my mistake (but far away from the end of the file), load the state (the emu says Movie Re-recording 0x) end my movie (or a tleast I try to do it). But anyways, what is the correct way of ending a smv file?
Post subject: So, I re-record and finish my movie. But how to finish it?

THe title explains everything. I open in read+write mode, re-record, finish my movie (just a test by now). After all my work, those frame-perfect paths, I finally end it. BUT, how to actually finish it? and make the new information be written to the smv file? I've tryied to: File > Movie Stop. It simply stops the playback and the old file is still there. Close the emulator. The file remains the same as before. Switch to read-only (shift+8). I could even rewind with the finished movie, but when I closed the emulator I still got the old file! Yes, I've recorded the same path 3 times, and those 3 times I can say that I got a little angry.. Please help me to the 4th time be the last :) Thanks in advance! edit: Before someone says it. Yes I have read the FAQ/UsingEmulatorTools/etc pages. Mostly of them says how to re-record, but none of them said how to end a re-recorded movie..

Well, I had nothing to do and I was playing around in DKC2, so I thought that running this stage can be VERY interesting, cause it's not made to be passed in that speed. It is EXTREMELY HARD to control diddy when he is spinning and falling, and control him when he is only falling is a bit hard too. This is my first smv file that I ever made, I did it at 70ms (with frame advance sometimes), and you bet that this is slow. It is not frame perfect, and watching it at full speed may impress someone.. There are some mistakes here and there but the overall is nice in my opinnion. It is only HALF of the stage Parrot Chute Panic (world 5 stage 4, the one with the purple Sqwawks). I didn't made it entirely for two reasons: First because the second part is way too hard for my noob skills, and second because there is a DK barrel after the half-barrel and if someday someone get nuts and use my inputs to anything, it will maybe desynch. But mostly because it is very hard. =P Of course I use SRAM, and no I am NOT doing a run of this game and this is not a WIP or something. I sure wanted to do a run, but damn this sh** is hard! The re-record count may be high, but hey this is my first movie, don't blame me. Here it is: My first tool-assisted (very short) movie! yousendit link (in case of dehacked's hosting beind down): Click here Info: ROM: Donkey Kong Country 2 - Diddy's Kong Quest (U) (V1.1) [!] [√] Use WIP1 Timing [ ] Allow Left+Right / Up+Down [√] Volume Envelope Height Reading [ ] Fake Mute desync workaround [ ] Sync samples with sound CPU Just the half of Parrot Chute Panic stage, with some mistakes here and there. It would be nice if you read what I wrote above, but hey I'm not your mother, read it if you want :) Thanks to everyone that watches it. I don't think that I'm going to improve this but if you want to tell me my mistakes you sure can do it and I will read it!

There is a way to use the mouse as an analog stick, although i find it incredibly weird. I can't remember which plugin you use though... I'll try to find out, unless someone replies before me.
Just copy this text to a notepad document and save it, then rename it to anything.cpf and load it with n-rage plugin: @Controller Profile 2.0 Controls=00510005004F000500500005004C0005001C0005000000060012000500100 00500200005001E0005001F00050011000500010006001000050000000700000107000 101070001000700000000000000000000000000000000 ControllerSettings=0700014B DeviceSettings=000A6400 RumbleSettings=01500000 MemPakFile=C:\My Documents\Mempak1.mpk GBRomFile= GBRomSave=

Looking great! If I'm not mistaken, you save 1 from on Genisto on 1-1, and another on 1-2... I also liked how you got to the hammer bros before 1-5... and shooting the star was nice as well (can't remember seeing that before).
Agreed! Just test the whistle thing and see wich way is faster.

Sorry, I would certanly use the search for something like that, but the terms are too vague.. I couldn't find nothing in the FAQ either, so I'm asking here. When can I vote in pools? Do I need to be a Player? I think that I'm not a lurker anymore, but when I enter some run topic I can just see the results of the pool.. Again, sorry if this question has already been aswered, but I couldn't find it anywhere.. PS: Sorry for my bad english..
