I was under the impression that World 9 and Worlds A-D were only created for Super Mario All-Stars. At the very least, when I played Super Mario Deluxe on the Game Boy Color, which had the levels from SMB2 (J) in them there was only worlds 1-8. Unless there's something I'm missing...

Y'know what bugs ME about the latest Star Ocean game? The entire plot in the second Disc. (Though I gotta admit, I never noticed the little title error before. That's funny.)

These things happen, unexplained downtime happens to most sites out there, but thankfully nothing was lost in this case. Besides, I'm sure we all could have used a break. Right? Right?

It's a hack of Rockman 2. Just do a search for 'Rockman Exile', you'll find it. It's rather impressive, as far as Romhacks go. Nice level editing, and he even inserts music from Gameboy Rockman games. Not to mention the enemy tweaking (just wait until you run into a Hardhat/Metool, oh my GOD). Were rom hacks publishable, this one wouldn't be bad to tackle, though I haven't played through it. I don't know if it suffers from glitchyness so many hacks tend to have.

I too have never heard of this. I was going to ask the same question Ouzo did, but he beat me to the punch. The ending implies there's a bit more that can be done in the game, is there a second ending, or were the game designers being coy? Well, either way, only one thought ran through my mind when the girl shut the door in the hero's face. "WIIIIIIILMAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

I still have no idea how you pulled that off. Everything fit together so nicely. Movie equals Very Yes.

Looks good to me, yes vote. Though it would have been funnier if this was the arcade version, as that has an absolutely horrendous translation. As Sharkey once reviewed, years ago. (warning, lewd and inapprorpriate language)

I'm likin' it so far. I really liked how you manipulated the two boss battles so the other non-permanent party members died, so Chaz and Rika (and Rune) got all the XP. That musta took some serious planning and manipulation. And I liked having Rune's theme in the background, I think it was the last part of the game where you got to hear it. And you'll get to hear that Tower BGM again later in the game in the (spoiler)Air Castle. Wow, I never realized Gryz was so useless when you didn't level him up and buy equipment. The others have techs and skills to use, but Gryz? Pshh. At least he's good at absorbing damage. I'm looking forward to the battle with Zio. Considering that everything which follows is just a load of cutscenes, perhaps you could end the next movie, instead, when you reach Wren, or when you leave Raja's temple?

I've always wanted to see someone attempt a TAS for Zelda Challenge: Outlands. It's easily the best hack of The Legend of Zelda out there. I believe the patch is at Zophar's, since Challenge Games is currently down.

Probably not. I've used the Flash Stopped in Ring Man's level on the Hippos, and while it stops them mid-teleport, the screen still freezes, and you can't advance until you beat them. Even with the Wolves in Wood Man's stage, while they're in the way, you can go past them if you can get around them. With the Snail and the Hippo, I believe the screen is stuck until they're defeated. Someone want to verify that for sure?

PHONONMEZER OVER! RAJA EQUALS VERY YES! Ahem. Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyway, Sleepz, any luck getting that jerk Juza out of the way?

In a normal playthrough, yes, Phononmezer is very useful. But the fact does remain that the dungeon it is stored in is optional. If Sleepz is actually going there, then sure, pick it up. But really, unless that combo with Chaz would be effective against Zio (which, by all rights, would be the only point of getting anything for Demi since she leaves immediately after) then it would be best to skip it. More than likely, Demi will only have one use of Phononmezer, that means the only two places it would realisticially come in handy would be the battle at the top of Ladea Tower, and against Zio. It could be used against Sandworms, but it would only have one use before you would have to go to an Inn to recharge it. Both the boss of the Ladea Tower and Zio are just one enemy each, and while the Phononmezer is great for groups, the damage against a single target is only slightly above average, compared to things like Crosscut and DoubleSlash. Only if Sleepz is planning on going to that base near Nayla anyway, or if the Silent Wave combo when used against Zio can somehow drastically reduce the battle time, it would probably be best to skip it. The only other point to consider would be if Sleepz is planning on taking Demi at the end of the game. In a normal playthrough Raja is the best choice, but Demi's greater offense might be handy in a TAS. If THAT is the case, then getting the Phononmezer would be worth it, since she would have considerably more uses of it by then.

As I recall, the Phononmezer is in an optional dungeon that's a bit out of the way, and doesn't really do enough damage to justify getting, especially since at the levels Sleepz will likely be at when he fights Zio, Demi may still only have one use of it. Unless he's planning to go into the dungeon for other reasons (leveling perhaps, but that would better be done on Sandworms I think) getting the Phononmezer may not be a good idea. Where Demi is not one of the permanent party members, it should probably be skipped. Wren's upgrades, on the other hand, would be worth looking into. But we're not that far yet. ;)

Not much in the way of pointers, it looks good. And you're about half-way there, give or take. I'm looking forward to the rest of it. I wouldn't take the lack of posts in the topic by others discouraging, as the saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', there doesn't seem to be many mistakes in the movie to point out, and you can only post 'Looks good!' so many times ;)

Looks great, but it's odd that the movie would desynch for YOU. Hmm. Try re-doing the fight perhaps? I hope this isn't something that will happen often. The leveling seems smooth, how many Sandworms do you plan on tackling? Also, is the Sandworm in Mile (First Hunter's Guild quest) worth doing, because I seem to remember that particular Sandworm giving much more EXP than normal ones.. but the time spent getting the quest, going to Mile, and beating it, may not be worth it...

I'm not so sure about that, actually. You might have to ask one of the admin on official policy. If you do have to replay Bowser'S Castle then doing the special stages 1E-6E would be good, since you'll have to make an extra move back to World 6 anyway. If not, then 6E-1E is fine. If you have to replay the Castle, then you can always try different things, perhaps. But, if you COULD just hex it in place, then that might just be better for you.

I used to play this game years ago, and I really loved it. However I haven't touched it in ages, so I really don't know of any tricks which could be used for speed. But this is a game I would really love to see a TAS made for. Anyone want to give it a shot?

Ahh, I musta missed that explanation. That's pretty nifty... but does that mean the movie will have no ending? Or will you go back into the castle and beat Bowser a second time? At any rate, it's up to you whether or not to do the Extra stages one at a time as they appear, or all at once in the end. While it would be faster to do the latter, it may look better to do the former. We're all gauging this run based on what you do in the stages, anyway, I doubt someone would try and mimic your performance just to cut down on the map time for a faster run. Sometimes aesthetics are worth a sacrifice in speed, but it's up to you. I was just making sure you were aware it would be faster. (And I'm sure we'd understand if you didn't want to throw away the work you've done so far on 1-E :>) Whatever you decide this is certainly going to be a fantastic run.

It looks great so far. That trick in 2-8, do you think there are other levels where you can do something like that?

It looks good so far, I especially like how you collected the last few stars in 1-4 DURING the boss fight, and jumping in the lava at the end of 1-8, I always love seeing that stuff. I gotta wonder, though, would doing all the Extra stages at the END of the run save you some unnecessary map changes? If you follow your current pattern you could have 8 or 9 (how are you tackling 6-E anyway?) extra map changes by going back to the previous world's Extra stage as soon as it opens, whereas if you wait till the end of the game and go back and do all the Extra stages at once you'd only have to change maps about 6 times. It costs time for the map scroll to close and open and for the map to change, afterall, so it's something to think about. Or are you tackling the Extra stages the way you are as a matter of aesthetics?

Ok, the movie works now. My bad, I didn't have Gens test 9c. Looks good so far, though I wish you didn't just stop at Grandfather Dorin, that's one of my favorite parts of the game. :>

Yay, no more unexplained desyncs. Hopefully I won't see those problems again. Looks good so far, though I thought it odd that you took such an odd walking route after the first fight, if it's all to manipulate randomness then it's worth it.

It desyncs for me in the battle with Igglanova, in the third round, instead of picking the Macro, it starts scrolling down through the list, then cancels out of the Macro menu, then pauses, then goes back into it, then, well, I shut it off at that point. My rom is "Phantasy Star - The End of the Millenium (U) [!].bin", like your movie file. Not sure what this is about... Aside from that, I have one quick question: In the room where you talk to Hahn the first time, why didn't you do so one square to the right? I think the time spent waiting for him to walk back into the square above that would have been faster than the time spent walking an extra square to the left, then back to the right to reach the stairs. But maybe I got something wrong...

As for this game, perhaps there could be at least two different runs? One that quits missions to jump right to the end, and one that doesn't? I suppose it's up to Bisquit and the admin to decide whether or not an SRAM would be accetable for a Hard Mode run. Personally, I'd just like to see a run going through all the stages as fast as possible, not caring about Rank (but that's the choice of the player, to me getting an S-rank is only most impressive in a real-time speedrun, not a TAS), but, well, I just like to see the MMZ series tackled for real, period. :>
