I'm gonna have to concur with Darkkobold on this one. If it were possible, I vote for locking this thread, but I think that is kind of against the nature of this site. Therefore, I move for everyone (except Saturn, who will refuse to stop posting) stop posting and ignore the thread... unless you have not gotten your daily dose of annoying bitching for the day.

I haven't watched this yet, but it is possible that the 100% run could obsolete the any% run. I keep going back and forth between the idea, but IMO if it is <1 minute of added gameplay, why shouldn't it obsolete the old one?

I HATE good quality. Why did your run have to be so good? D: It looked really great, talk about a tough game being tamed by skillful tasers ^_^

Well, not Finnish. Finnish does not really have any obsolete pronouns.
You are hereby declared lucky; Shakespeare is a bitch to read. Actually, I think I will turn my OT comment into a question. Do you have any "Great finish writers of the XXth century"? Shakespeare is English, and is known throughout the world (I believe). Any Finnish writers that are famous inside Finland's borders?

I asked my girlfriend to read Hellfish's post and give her girly opinion. After she read it all she said was "I really don't know what to say. I mean, it sounds to me like she is looking for a new boyfriend". Take it for what you wish, but in this case I agree with fabian and dromiceius... I just didn't have the balls to write it.

I really disagree with this. [./quote] I really agree with baxter. JXQ's 100% Super Metroid has been obsoleted (I believe), yet that is one of the most entertaining runs I have seen to date... and I have never played SM!

But whatever, if people don't approve the "original" work just because of the few stupid tricks I was unaware of, so be it. I guarantee you guys that any improvement attempt will end up to be a lame copy of this run based to 99% on my work in the end (thats what TASing is about nowadays, it seems), just with the mentioned tricks added. One could basicly just take a video of this run, and simply editing the new techs (that wouldn't make a difference in the completion time anyway) in the few rooms into it, to achieve the exact same result in the end.
If it is so simple, just add them your fucking self, resubmit the file and call it good. Sounds to me like you are lazy.

You guys must have some really, really shitty torrent clients.
Fine, if the attitude is to make the life of people who want to help seeding as hard as possible, then maybe I should just remove all the videos I have and never help seeding again. Just f*ck it.
Crying about it like a baby, which is the impression the text gave me, does not help your case, warp.

Look, bottom line, there is a certain user is twisting and manipulating so he can get his way. If it were someone else's run (aka he didn't put any time into it) I am sure this person would be fighting tooth and nail to get this run not published with this set of given criteria.* *I have no proof of that last statement, just a personality judgement, so don't bother calling me on it. I will not respond.

For #2, why not have Bisqwit assign judges to people who typically give good feedback in the workbench or WIP areas of the site? If the list is known only by Bisqwit (and, of course, the members), and said members are sworn to secrecy, then there wouldn't be any "Wait, sticky is SO much of a better voter than Alden. Alden is a bad person. Kill Alden." or something of that nature :)

I think the right-side can look a little bare on the movies page though. An image there would be nice - maybe a collage of various consoles and stuff - something non-game-specific?
Now that you mention that, I agree. Perhaps, as opposed to more pictures, you could make two columns of links... kind of like this http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t90/stickyman05/Picture1-2.png The problem lies with having such a long list of movie categories... i think you are going to have massive blank space regardless. My idea would just minimize scrolling (i think). Yes, i am using a very crappy version of paint, so you get to deal with the crappy looks of it. But, you get the idea. As a minor nitpick, Bisqwit, under the movies by category in the movies tab, I noticed you have an extra black bullet.

Out of curiousity, would any of these be applicable to Vista as well? I'm not having any resource-hogging problems, but I'd love to prevent them from happening.
Overall, Vista is a hog. I don't know much about it, but from what I have gathered from my Intro to Digital professor, you need a "higher end" laptop (aka, a new one as opposed to 2 years old) to run vista at least kind of well. That sucker is literal, it sucks the resources :)

Well, I, for one, think it is cool that you keep coming back to the game (even if it takes the better part of a year ;) ) Although I do hope a run gets made eventually, I cannot say DO IT AND DO IT NOW, for I would not be able to do it myself :)

On a similar note: If you have two movies, one rated 3 for technical quality and another rated 9.8, which one do you think would more probably be more entertaining? (And please don't nitpick. Individual exceptions don't affect the answer to a question about what's the most probable situation.)
Probably the one with a 10 for entertainment.

The thing is, I apparently don't rate like everyone else does here. I don't feel that a 10 is a yes vote, 5 a meh vote, etc. I feel 10 is a perfect movie, 5 is acceptable, and 1 is get this shit outta here. I don't see how people can vote 10s on technical, when in some instances (See my old movie rating for mario 64) a month later the game is 10 seconds faster, and more frame perfect. Yes, an extreme example, but that is how I view it... and I vote accordingly. On another note, I make sure the judges, and authors, know the reason for my lower vote numbers. For ferret, I PM'd him, to let him know what my reasoning was even further, and to make sure he was OK with it. If any player has a problem with my voting, I encourage them to let me know so I can explain how I voted. I do not appreciate being brought into the conversation without a direct question as to why I voted that way.

I didn't consider you thought that almost 4 minutes of slowly X-Ray climbing up 11 screens while having a still picture without any movements at all (other than the climb animation) is worth a 9,5 entertainment rating for you. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Wow, wonderful little game that I have never heard of. I hope this comes to VC :) Dude, do an any percent run. Don't listen to the guys who are saying "100% would be better! Do a 100%!" Take the easier route first, get to know the game, get more interest in the game by publishing an any percent. You will know routes/find routes easier, maybe even motivate another person to help you with a 100% run. *Time and again, I have seen new players get discouraged very quickly at the depth and magnitude of planning a 100% run requires. *No research to site here, move along
