I don't know if this speedrun is ever gonna get done, but maybe you guys should consider making two variants: One with boss shortcuts and one without. I've noticed that you guys are coming up with lots of ways to bypass bosses, but you have to remember that this is an X-Men game. I dunno about you, but when i was a kid the coolest thing about this game was all of the characters making appearances. It would kinda suck to skip past Juggernaut, Sabretooth, etc. Also i realize that the Assist characters do a lot of damage but they looked cool too. So maybe it would be a good idea to do one speedrun strictly for fastest completion time and another "all bosses defeated" speedrun where you also show all of the backup characters like Archangel, Storm, etc. Just an idea. Feel free to ignore it.
I agree, it would be nice to show all the sub-bosses in the game. However, I believe the best way to go about a speedrun would be to skip the sub-bosses. BUT, if the skipping bosses works out well and gets accepted, I think that a second run should be made, where defeating all bosses is a necessity (kind of like a 100% boss run, i suppose). I dont know what 'mad thinks, but I think first priority is a fastest completion, and second priority (after the first priority is [hopefully] accepted) is to make a longer, no boss skip run.

Is it possible to hack the x-men rom (for the reset problem) and put the tas in "Concept demos/Other" section ?
I am no 1337 h4x0r, and as far as I know there are no hacks to make the reset without hitting the actual reset button. If you are able to confirm one is out there, or wish to make one yourself ( ;) ) then I definitely talk to 'mad and Bisqwit about the idea!

I have been following Jack's progress since ~Runway and he continues to amaze me... man I love this game, especially when it gets demolished by a talented TAS'r. Quite basically: Fuck yes.

I have to admit I'm not really aware of what games require a microphone and what they require it for. Can you give me some examples? It might help me understand whether recording sound has any value at all for speedrunning.
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass uses the mic for a couple of functions (blowing out candles is one of them). Surprisingly, no other games come to mind at the moment, although i'm certain others do exist that would be good for a tas.
Diddy Kong Racing uses it, for blowing out lights and spinning both the hovercraft's and airplane's propeller at the beginning of the course for that extra boost. However, since we already have a DKR movie, I dont see a use for another one

Wow, Chamale, you listen to Insane Clown Possie?! Anyways, from how vague this dude was, and how he seemed to dodge any attempts to reply to your inquires, it sounds like he is blowing smoke out of his ass.

Ah, I see. So with half a seed displayed here, that really means no seeds? Interesting... thanks for the help in quenching my curiosity moozooh and Bisqwit!

I was torn as to whether I should put this in Off topic or Sites, to which I chose the former. I noticed for the movie Top Gear http://tasvideos.org/113M.html the total number of seeds was 1/2. My question is, how can you have only 1/2 a seed? Would that not be a leecher, or could it/is it a max download speed type of thing?

I have a bag of salt, and a bag of sugar. They are of arbitrary size (the sizes of the bags do not matter). I mix the two bags vigorously. What is the best way re-isolate the salt and sugar without changing the state of either (i.e. you can't use melting points to your advantage)? Is this possible without analyzing each grain of salt/sugar?
Well, off this is off the top of my head. Using a colynder (sp) that has holes shaped of triangles that are exactly one half the size of a grain of salt (salt is square) you should be able to get the sugar slowly strained out of the colynder (sp) and into another bag. This is assuming, of course, that a grain of sugar is smaller than a grain of salt.

Sure, having two topics looks pretty rediculus, but with ~2 pages of arguments that cannot be removed unless every person deletes the text in the message for every message within the argument, there is no way to keep that topic on topic. Eventually the old topic will either get deleted, or, more likely, moved to page two once other topics are started or posted in, thus eliminating the rediculousness of two topics. Another good idea for the new topic was to organize everything talked about in the old topic into a general, definitive area in this new topic. Could this have been done as an edit to message 1 of the old topic? Yes. Would it have been redundant and confusing if the reader tried to read posts on page 2 (iirc) about the SRM data? Hell yes. Do i think this should happen for every topic? No. But because it happened with Sonic MegaMix so I say just let it go and deal for this one specific incident. This new topic is easy to read and understand, and had a lack of arguments up until yesterday, so, upthorn, please back off DDRKhat and stop initiating arguments, and DDRKhat please stop arguing back to upthorn. Now, kiss and make up :-* EDIT: wording edits, w00t

This will be the "official" topic for all runs to do with the On-going fan-hack Sonic 1 Megamix by Team Megamix. This first post is simply a catalog of all recordings done by users and for which Megamix. It is requested that new recorders of this hack start their recording from a blank SRM file and adjust the preferences in the recording. Any recordings which require pre-set settings will be labeled appropriately (This is due to recovery from the previous Topic) This file will set the settings for marked runs, remember to watch this recording on a blank SRM file Any recordings that are faster than the current will be posted up first, and all recordings that are beaten will fall into the archive category, so viewers can see what we have come from. They shall also fall into TWO categories.. "All Emeralds" and "No Emeralds" +Sonic 1 Megamix 2.0+ Theoretically no runs from this version should be done, however if they are, for whatever reason, they will be accepted. +Sonic 1 Megamix 3.0+ --All Emeralds-- [Sonic] Playtime: 30m 53s Player: DDRKhat (Requires Pre-Config) [Shadow] Playtime: 20m 59s Player: emu (Requires Pre-Config) [Mighty] Playtime: 31m 4s Player: DDRKhat (Requires Pre-Config) --No Emeralds-- [Sonic] Not Done [Shadow] Not Done [Mighty] Not Done +Archive+ No records have been bested in time yet.
WOW, I really like your idea for having the recent runs and archived runs in two different places, as well as stating the directions once and for all with the SRM data... I was following the other topic and I was was confused as hell XD

Nah dude, I say as long as you gather all information necessary for a "1st post recap" type of thing, giving all the knowledge learned from this topic in the new topic, then I say go for a "fresh" start.

I politely disagree with your argument, but I do agree that the submission queue has shrunk. The thing is, what is stopping the queue from growing in size again? If the voting helps the judges get things done quicker and more efficiently (as in not letting the movies pile up) I would argue for keeping the voting. More on topic: I voted to keep the question the same. Although I could be influenced into changing it, I personally never take the question as an exact meaning, basically if I liked many different things about the movie, as well as noticing few flaws, I vote "Yes", not "Yes, I enjoyed watching this movie"

Overall not too impressed, some of the levels made such lack of sense it was hilarious, however others droned on and on... A better suggested screenshot: Nothin against you, JXQ, but goddamn this is a bad game to TAS XD EDIT: Forgot to say that I voted no :3

Since Random Pie is doing the first one (at least I think he's still working on it), and doing a good job so far, I've decided to tackle the sequel. This version is a lot more straight-forward than the first, but the character still moves pretty fast at maximum speed. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1357248248/Aero_the_Acrobat _2.gmv Here's the first level. Let me know what you think.
Your URL was missing some underscores, but the url in my quote works perfectly (Just a heads up, no hate intended) 2320 - 2339: I notice you hit the very end of the bed and then fall off the side of the bed. Did you lose any frames from either hitting the bed's bar or falling off the bar when you continued running? I dont know if it would have been any easier to jump later and miss the bed completely instead of jumping and then landing on the bed. ~2700: Sorry for not being more exact, I forgot to pause the emulator @_@ It appears you didnt do the Aero spin at the top of his jump to get onto the ladder. Could it be possible to skip grabbing the ladder all together, or grabbing the ladder higher than where you grabbed it, thus cutting down the climbing time by a few frames? 3400 - 3500: I notice that you lose momentum when you do that spin move. Instead of spinning, would grabbing the bells strings preserve your momentum and get you to the end faster than spinning? 3500 - end: Is there any earlier moment you can jump into the door, or does the door have to be relatively big for you to jump in and end the level? Great work so far, keep it up!

Wow, I like the whole tails deal, although I am relatively cautious of the idea [see rant]... is this legit, though? It sounds like this is the main Megamix guy, but since I dont know for sure I figure I would ask. Who next, Knuckles? On to the rant! I dont know if there is any real advantage to using the tails I saw played. Sure, he has a tail sword type of thing, but is that really it? His super tails form should keep the tail sword thingy like it is (the long ranged energy blast or whatever) but I think that an increased flight acceleration, speed, better control (not necessary for a TAS XD), and infinite time for flight needs to be implimented for him to be able to one-up any of the other characters.
