thanks nk,I tried pressing buttons before the match and didn't get any result different, when do you press them?
Are you sure you fully understand how luck manipulation works? You had a problem with this in your Bomberman run as well.

The manipulation here looks really weak. Enemies blocking, walking away, jumping at inopportune times, you getting hit. And speaking of getting hit, that round ends noticeably faster than rounds you got a perfect on.

I find it hard to believe that the Sol fight in particular couldn't be done better. There's almost a full second of just pushing against him even after the 'pause for manipulation.'

FYI since it's not obvious. This is basically a reskinned version of another game that has had a ton of different versions. http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/ninjaprincess/ninjaprincess.htm Also, you can't beat the game without getting the scrolls and using the secret entrance so it's not exactly a skip. It's just beating the game. If you beat stage 12 without a scroll (or using the entrance) it sends you back to that stage to play through again in a loop until you do get them/use the entrance.

A bunch of the yes votes had comments like "So boring that it's awesome", so, uh...

What's that shield thing that seems to absorb enemy shots? It was mostly used on the final boss, but I didn't see it explained anywhere in the submission comments.
Piledriver 'stance' that doesn't hit an enemy. 30ish frame invulnerability.

This is the 3rd Mortal Kombat run with Scorpion in the last two weeks, and all of them have had obvious problems. There are multiple runs on Youtube beating it not even trying for speed. Even the menu selection is obviously substandard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8e0XUtAlmU You really need to watch some other Mortal Kombat runs on this site and listen to what people are saying.

I'm 95% certain that Johnny Cage is faster and 100% certain that any fight done using the hook can be done faster by not using the hook. Here's some study material. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMXo0_3S_qU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YV0Qjwnr9M

Why do I keep hearing a male voice every now and then from the main character if she's female and her usual voice is distinctively so? I'm actually quite fine with the slower pace of the run since at least it was still entertaining. I'm just wondering why it took 2 years for a normal run to popup after the Albus version. :o
Complexity? Albus has his five moves and a teleport. That's it. Nothing more to ever be gained. Shanoa's had just a bit more variation on options and the evolution thereof.

I think that if you're going to make a run for "fastest time," then it should be the fastest time.

Um, you do know that by scrolling over the dragon symbol on the character select screen, that's one less spot to scroll over and is therefore faster, right?

My bad, sorry. I runned the game 100 times slower, it seems that Waluigi's life is set at 0 immediately when time is up. No loop with progressive HP decreasing. Something more like:
You're misunderstanding. He's talking about the score countdown at the end of the level only. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCL2p0zYQFE#t=3m vs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWQSVtShZXU#12m45s

SmashManiac is right, I found a strategy that uses 1 less block and the same number of holds, saving 10 frames.
Well I can't think of any trivial way to improve the top block strategy now! Nice! :)

In fact, imo it seems to resemble this run and feels like a WIP more than an actual full game submission.
I heavily disagree on this. [516] SNES F-Zero "first track" by Saturn in 02:22.03 is showing off a single level out of a whole bunch of levels, while this submission is showing off a specific game mode with different gameplay mechanics of the rest of the game altogether.
I don't think that a 2006 run that was (supposed to be) published as a concept demo only which definitely wouldn't be accepted under the current rules is a great precedent to staking anything on.

Not exactly the same situation. The currently published run does actually beat the game
It beats a different game. It may look like the same game, but once you start hacking up the rom, it becomes a different game.
Each more horrible than the other.

Yeah. There's a lot of places that at least appear very unoptimized or sloppy. The wall stops TehSeven mentioned (like 27 seconds into the improvement just above), lots of places where you should (?) be jumping down instead of dead falling, the digging, and even in that improvement above, there are missed fireballs when you bounce off his head (why?), more missed fireballs when Bowser jumps, then it doesn't look like you turn and start hitting him again anywhere near as quickly as you could be when he lands.

So what should I vote if I find the run entertaining but I have an objection to it being published (eg. it blatantly breaks some of the rules)?
You should vote yes. We are asking for your opinions on entertainment value, not if it breaks the rules. To be blunt, no one is asking you if it breaks the rules, that's what the judges are for. However, if you have a reason it breaks the rules, or some other objection, the judge would prefer you mention it. Judges are supposed to read all comments. In theory, commenting is sufficient to bring it to their attention, and it will be weighted accordingly.
But entertainment is given as a potential excuse for other factors normally against publication so that things with high (perceived) audience support will be accepted anyway. If someone doesn't think it's worthy of being published, like due to gross/obvious lack of optimization, poor/unneeded/redundant goal choice, or poor game choice, then why would they want to act in a way more likely to have those things excused? That also doesn't address the inaccurate voting on improved movies where people simply vote Yes just because it's an improvement, ending up with the situation where the judge really has no actually decision to make AND the votes are extremely inaccurate. Many Atari runs immediately come to mind.

As I see it, the two biggest issues with the poll as it stands is stands are: People are still using it like the old poll, so it's useless for anything but the very first submission of a game. If it's an improvement, or even just said to be an improvement like in the Pokemon resyncs, then most people vote Yes sight unseen. And two, it groups together two very different opinions (Vault and Reject) under the same vote. If you don't like the "Moons" tier for being impenetrable to newcomers but are okay with "Vault", then returning to the question of "Should this be published?" But changing the responses to "Yes/Vault/No" would address both issues. I never really saw the point of the Meh equivocating response anyway.

Sorry for disappointing a Sonic TASer again today, but once again it’s a very clear No from me. First, this sumbission doesn’t beat the latest Qwerty’s results. Second, it even does not abuse all zips and tricks known today. Third, it does not look as a pacifist run. Is it supposed to be a regular TAS? Maybe, but it’s still not good enough. I’d suggest the author better join Qwerty’s WIP and help by contributing input into his project.
It's faster than the existing run though (from 2006...), so it's really a choice between a poor run or a worse run. It's not a situation that the rules address very well I don't think. It's very obviously not a pacifist run either. It kills enemies all the time. Mislabeled?

So... a hack that as far as this TAS is concerned, just lets you not play an already very TASed game?

You do realize that you're bitching about something from 2006, right? And that there have been multiple other more recent and faster TASes submitted (and canceled for want of improvement), right?
