Hmm 10:13 looks like you slow down dramatically. You should be moving at full speed considering it seems like the final track and no more manipulations would matter?
That's me ending inputs early. Last input is on the ramp at about 10:13. The Game Time TAS keeps full speed through that section.

Lol those jumps are hilarious looking. Why are you hitting into rocks on that level around 6:36 in the vid? Usually hitting into those kinds of things have ill effects for speed.
Thanks CoolHandMike! The reason I hit the rocks is to manipulate the cars in the level. You have to wait a little over 2 seconds between each car spawn. By hitting the rocks I'm further back which makes the next car spawn and drive straight off the road, allowing me to pass it really quickly. This makes it possible to pass 10 cars in that level and get the engine upgrade for the next level. Without it, I wouldn't have enough points to get the upgrade which would cost a lot of time.

Scripthawk can help to map out the dungeons using the data in the ROM: https://github.com/Isotarge/ScriptHawk

I only ever played the SNES version but this seems like a pretty solid run. Voted yes. I'm looking forward to reading the SNES vs GBA differences in the updated submission text. The level skips at the start were shocking. I'm glad that not all the levels can be skipped like this. It's interesting to see it a few times but any more would have gotten repetitive. -Highlights- 13:10 I love sBAMtBAMiBAMcBAMkBAMeBAMrBAMbBAMuBAMsBAMh sBAMyBAMmBAMpBAMhBAMoBAMnBAMy 22:20 Fast Climbing 29:30 Spider optimization 32:00 Tight water cycles 33:00 playaround 37:00 what?? 40:00 more quick climbing 46:00 krool playaround p.s. This is a little project I've been working on for a few months. I mainly started when I noticed there were heaps of podcasts about speedrunning, but none about Tool-Assisted Speedrunning. This seemed like an important gap to fill since there tends to be a lot of misconceptions about TASing and also since TASers could use more attention in the public eye. A lot of our work is quite technical so I was curious to see if explaining it in an approachable way could be useful (shoutouts to many great TASers who are already doing this through commentaries, GDQ showcases, etc.) Anyway here's the playlist of the episodes so far. I have 10, with the most recent one being on Splatterhouse with EZGames69. Various other games and guests have been featured. The video playlist is on youtube and has occasional clips of tricks and the audio playlist can stand on its own without needing those clips. I hope people enjoy this and I hope to make more in the future :) Video playlist: https://youtu.be/0tr-c2YP-Tw?list=PLlJzD6wWmoXn22611vVPKvmmZ3pLWOca5 Audio playlist: https://toolassistedpodcast.podbean.com/ Tool-Assisted Podcast Discord: https://discord.gg/XEcJ4sg Tool-Assisted Podcast Twitter: https://twitter.com/ToolAssistedPod

That's what I'm trying to (not so elegantly) get at. Since it's not a Maria boss I would feel that it shoudn't be in all Maria bosses. That being said, it could add some entertainment, so it could be worth it. I'm pretty close to 50/50 on this decision to be honest.

Do whatever RTA rules do imo. But it could be worth convincing them to add this boss in. Issue I have with this boss is if you add it, what's to say you shouldn't do several runs with several characters in an "all bosses" run to actually fight all bosses

I captured samples of the music and edited it i using Audacity. It was a pretty big project. I'm happy to send any of the files I used, or the final audio track if that would be helpful

I would have voted no on this due to the potential improvements, but since you're working on those I'll refrain from voting until they're incorporated. Ladder boosting and death abuse are 2 improvements that come to mind. As for the category I would suggest either going for perfect score deathless (the easier option), or imperfect score with deaths. Doing imperfect score deathless like in this submission seems weird to me. Maybe that's just me? I'd be curious to hear others opinions. I had a WIP of this game too, which I posted in this thread: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13378 There are lots of other WIPs and information in that thread, so it's worth looking at. That being said, I'm very excited to see this game get attention and I look forward to the improved final product.

Congrats on submitting this Mittenz! It's great to see this done knowing how much hard work you put into this game in TAS, RTA and contacting the devs. I can't believe how many complicated glitches you discovered and how well you understand optimising the wacky physics. Even though I did probably less than 5% of the actual inputs I still learnt a lot of interesting stuff and hopefully what I contributed with glitch hunting, routing and minor optimisation helped push this sub 15.

Nice Psycho Fox Decap Attack TAS! I'd be really keen to see this and other genesis stuff console verified. Nice work saving those frames.

I did some science for the RTA community recently about how long you have to jump out of a slide off a ledge. It's about 16 frames (NTSC) after you leave the ledge when you can jump regardless of when you slide. If you slide late, because you cover less horizontal distance in those 16 frames, there's an optical illusion of crash falling down really fast and not being able to jump. It's not super relevant for TASing but I'll put it here for completeness. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HRb3QId5WyXqEwFZRHTrEIqnOlP9wiIqH-6aQ_LI-og/edit?usp=sharing

Hey 8bit; I know it's not exactly a valid run, what it being a hack and all, but did you ever upload the button inputs for that Bridge2 with out the autoscroll camera anywhere? If you don't mind, I'd like to check it out.
Sure thing Paused. I must have forgotten to upload the bk2 at the time http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/53224092063830826 To make the ROM hack, change the address at 156A3 to 04.

Agreed. Lord of the Sword is pretty unknown even for a Master System game, but it's a super underrated hidden gem for the console. The TAS is insanely well optimized and there are heaps of interesting glitches, while still remaining comprehensible to watch.

I saved 7 seconds on Jungle 1 on Master System bringing the IGT down to 0:18 This TAS is optimized for IGT, not real time and there is still time to save. Real time optimization is very similar. There's more info in the youtube encode Encode: https://youtu.be/8FGK0N2LcLQ Button File: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/52634195355959792 Edit: About a 20 frame improvement with a different route which uses some more roll speed instead of a spring bounce: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/52634494278801183

I had a go at this game a little while ago. I was going to do a deathless run than use that knowledge to figure out which deaths are the fastest and do a max score run with deaths. But the global timers annoyed me so I dropped it. I don't think I found anything that FractalFusion hadn't found. I haven't had time to compare everyone's times but I want to upload this in case there are any possible improvements. Here's the bk2. It's for Bizhawk 2.0.1: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/52413181064048164 It's good to see you working on this, pozzum. I hope having my work (and the work of others) as reference can help a bit. I'm glad to see this game getting some TASing attention and I look forward to seeing more.

[3611] SMS Lord of the Sword by Isotarge in 13:34.82 for being incredibly well optimized and entertaining. [3758] GG Sonic Labyrinth "best ending" by Zurggriff in 15:15.91 for fast paced, entertaining sonic action and making the controls look bearable.
