Sorry to keep everyone waiting. The site was down when I finished, but I let everyone on IRC get a preview. It wasn't until now that I had a sec to submit. Thanks for the inspiration, Guanobowl. I ended up getting on a roll and staying up all night making this run. I love this game, so it's been great to timeattack it.

Ah, excellent. Unfortunately, this means I have an extra warp boot or two, but I may be able to hex them out. Looks like I'll change my path after warping into Portoa's valley and getting paralysis (still needed for Kensu to get change.) I still need to go to Portoa later and get behind the queen's throne to get the dolphin's flute. I may need to step in and out of town to get it on my teleport list and warp boot to it after getting the Kirisa plant. The alternative is a full cycle through the wild warp sequence, which may be faster, I'll see. By the way, I didn't hurt myself playing DDR, I actually picked it up recently as exercise that isn't so hard on my new knee. It's really helping me get my coordination and stability back. Well, maybe I'll work my new dance moves into this run...

Hey, got an idea, but I'm having trouble executing this glitch. Anyway, my idea is to use a trampoline to jump up and throw the bean from in the air to get the extra distance to the cage. Of course this means the blob will be a trampoline, so you'd have to throw a ketchup (hitting the tramp before it hits the ground,) maybe whistle, then throw the apple and hope that splatting on the ground doesn't prevent beating the game. There's may be something preventing this, but I just thought I'd throw this idea out and see if anyone can make it work. Good luck!

Hmm, for rom problems, try Nach's NSRT tool. I forget exactly where the best place to grab it is though. Anyway, with NSRT you can figure out if you have a messed up ROM and even fix it. Also, I think there were multiple Jurassic park SNES games, is this the first?

It's possible to push past some people who are in your way,
I noticed this to some extent, you can see that I almost completely walk through the people after unpetrifying them, but I didn't see any way to avoid using the flute of lime. If I could get around using flute of lime, I could save quite a bit of time indeed, so I'll definitely investigate. In Amazones, I still need to change to a girl or else the queen won't trade me the bow. So no reason to change plans there. By the way, this run is most likely paused until the beautiful northwestern summer is over. Additionally, I started doing timeattacks while recovering from knee surgery, and I'm almost good as new now (got hooked on DDR.) But I'm still keeping up with the site and might do some work on this or some other timeattacks--I'm considering improving my Jackal run and/or a 2-player version of it.

I ask again, is there anyone here who has free time to help me?
Ok, most of the people posting in this thread have hundreds of posts on this forum, so take a guess. My suggestion is to just start playing, see if you can at least match the current run. For starters, you could concentrate on just doing Pharoah man (or whoever you want to do first.) If you find a part where you can't figure out how it was done before, post and ask for help. I don't believe there's an input display on FCEU, but you can open the fcm in a hex-editor to see exactly what buttons were pushed in the old one (it may be easier to convert to fmv first though.) When you start figuring out new tricks, you can upload an fcm and ask if anyone sees room for improvement. So yeah, just jump into it. Good luck!

Has anyone considered switching to the GBA version? I suggest it mainly because the latest VBA is far superior to SNES 9x which would make the production much smoother. Not sure what other changes there are.

This would be stupid. The fastest completion is under two minutes, so this doesn't help. A run using this code could simply kill five minutes between the first few levels, go into a door and then take on the end level. Anything besides the fastest possible run for this game should purely be for show, and a pretty sweet show at that (I love the Bob's route run.) So why cut the show short at 5 minutes?

Could you elaborate? Vatchern may or may not have seen it.

Thanks, I thought I had experimented with the trigger for evil island, but I'll check again.

Lookin pretty good. The moth boss looks suspiciously slow however. Other levels look fine. It seems in some cases you could go faster by manipulating enemy movements. How hard is this?

After all the crap I've given you while making this, the result is pretty nice. It's an excellent treatment for this beautiful game.

I wouldn't have minded if you skipped the dark glasses, we wouldn't miss that much. I think the only way to kill that golem before he jumps down is to use boosted dark friar. Even if it would be faster, it would be pretty boring unless you could avoid waiting in line in Euro. Wow, the end is near. The pyramid should be interesting, though the boss is always annoying. Say, can you get any speed by using the spin dash on a long run? There are a couple really long ones in Angkor Wat. Maybe it just takes too long to charge.

Boss 1 can be killed faster. Check this out, I've got about 2 seconds on you. http://home.comcast.net/~f_amoroso/Boomers-edited.vbm Of course I took a pretty different take on the strategy, but you could definitely have executed your fight better by moving closer to the exit before killing the boss. Furthermore, each hit should come on the exact frame when the boss becomes vulnerable, so he won't move at all. There's no reason not to get this level of precision with an emulator this nice. Other general tips are to make every movement and frame count. Notice how my first couple holes were planned so I could pick up the item without stopping, and I kept moving towards the exit until throwing my last bone from the optimal spot. You had some good ideas, but you spent way too much time waiting after digging up your bones. With the shovel it's easy to dig a hole and move towards the exit in the boss's invulnerable time. With a little planning, it's definitely possible to grab some roller skates.

There's no way you could have any sort of button-sequence input verified to be non-tool-assisted. Nothing is immune to a hex-editor at the very least. Video can also be edited. So yeah, the only real way is to have some trusted party verify it.

Voting meh probably because I didn't play this one enough to generate any nostalgia. Although it's clear that it gets harder, there's too much repetition and not enough variety to hold my interest for 20 minutes. After the first few courses I found myself hoping the next one would be the last. The soundtrack is ok on some levels, but not great. Don't get me wrong, Saturn, you've clearly played this well, I'm just not crazy about this game.

Something I've wondered about is whether or not these runs actually are possible on the console. Recently I've been experimenting with a flash cartridge, which essentially lets you copy a rom from your computer to a cartridge which you can then play on the console. So all that's really necessary is something to get the controller data--perhaps some connection between a USB port directly to the controller jack. Could you actually play back a speedrun this way? You'd have to somehow sync the control perfectly on reset. If you made a speedrun this way, how could anyone detect it? Even discounting this, couldn't you simply connect the video output of your computer to a VCR and make a tape of a tool-assisted run?

Well, I'd hate to make you go back any further, but I'm sure there's at least one more of those on some earlier level. I haven't watched from second boss on yet, but on the first boss, I was wondering if you had considered digging up a shovel and/or roller skates. There are several of these around the level, definitely one of each near the entrance. I'm sure the same is true for each boss. Your boss fight is good, but you do let him move quite a bit in between hits. With a shovel you could get bones fast enough to hit him constantly.

Does someone know what does the scarecrow in Stage 17 do?
Is it the spirit item, which you can morph into anything you want? I forget exactly how it works though. The item itself doesn't do anything, you have to change it to one of the other items.

Sweet, great work as usual. Did you consider running through the alley in Euro City? Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing more, Angkor Wat is one of my favorite spots in this game.

Thanks for checking this out. I did notice that the time when the crash happens is somewhat random, but walking around in that area causes it to happen eventually.

-Stay as Luke, not only will you have the most powerful gun with him by the time you get to Chewie, but you also slide faster with him, and are a smaller target.
You get to keep weapon power if you switch characters. But you may have a point with the smaller target. Also, the lightsaber seems to do more damage on some enemies and bosses.

I had this game back in the day. There was one level where it seemed to be impossible to get the key. This game might be kinda long, you have to do all the levels twice, once going each way. I'll be watching this when I get a chance.

Good luck on this one, I'd love to see this series run. You'll be playing on Jedi mode, of course. :) You should definitely be taking hits to get through faster, though it may be advantageous to save them for bosses. Either that, or manipulate big hearts as needed. I'm sure that you can get helpful boosts from hitting enemies in some places. Ok, I have to give you some advice, kid: Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side. I would switch to Han Solo or Chewbacca just for coolness, unless there's some advantage to the lightsaber. I know I've played through all of them on a real SNES, but after going back to try them again recently, it's much harder than I remember! The first game becomes much easier with save-states since you lose all your weapon powerups when you die. Empire Strikes Back is the toughest in the series, but the force powers could make for a really neat run. Return of the Jedi is probably the best in the series due to unique moves for each character. Han's grenades pack a big punch but Luke could move through the levels very quickly with proper use of the force. Well, what else can I say, may the force be with you...

Well, I hope you continue sometime, I know all too well how hard it can be to stay motivated through a long run like this. What you have so far is great, I love how you use the hits for a little boost.

Say, I was wondering if Tafatt or anyone else is still working on this run. Just curious and hopeful for an improved attempt...
