Indeed, it "does not sound as impressive" in comparison to these other TASes you mentioned, but... why making comparisons with entirely different games? The amount of A presses is extremely low for its own game, which is the whole point.
Also, it's just a number. You're basically judging the book from its cover. It doesn't need to "sound impressive", because it's a movie, not a guiness world record. It just needs to "look impressive" instead.

I think that the reason why this movie resulted more entertaining, is because by limiting only one game mechanic (in this case jumping) it becomes necessary to make a more creative and intensive usage of all the other mechanics available, and even put in use some very obscure game quirks that in most other situations would be unnecessary.
It's indeed entertaining in a different way than the warpless movie, but on the othe hand, for me the watching experience of this submission was similar to the walkathon movie, so I think that that movie should get obsoleted by this submission.

It's just that I don't believe free will exists, and that all our decisions are predetermined by our DNA and life experiences. But I see that it's a philosophical matter, which gets too far from the point of the discussion about how a pandemic should be dealt with.

"Growing" a virus is even easier than growing tobacco: all you need is your body.
Replace "addictive" with "contagious" and replace "drugs" with "virus".
I literally explained in my previous post why I consider smoking to not be a choice. Please read that post and tell me if you find any faulty logic in it.

Not really. Almost all people who smoke, have started just because their parents smoke, or because their close friends smoke. Indeed, not everyone who has smoking parents or friends is guaranteed to start smoking, but on the other hand it's extremely rare to start smoking by yourself. So it's de facto a contagion in all aspects, even though it's not transmitted through a microbe, but through social conditioning and close air pollution.
Also, you can't just decide to quit smoking. For anyone who already smoked enough, it will be a long and painful process. And even then, most of those who attempt will fail.
Besides, passive smoking is reported to cause about 1.2 million deaths worldwide among non-smokers ( https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/tobacco )
I wonder how many people have already died from the day that tobacco was introduced to the masses, and how many will also die in the future. I'm serious when I say that I hope for tobacco to be banned.

What about smoking? It is estimated that more than 480,000 people die yearly in the U.S. due to smoking, yet no politician has ever remotely considered banning tobacco.

I'm delighted to see how quickly did you figure out the game mechanics, in both major and minor aspects. I'm familiar with various Mystery Dungeon games, so I'm able to understand basically everything of what's going on, despite not having ever seen this game before. It's cool how level ups and item usage have been put in use in the routing, especially considering the RNG manipulation needed. Also, this game is gorgeous! Yes vote from me.

While I already expressed my opinion about how I think this movie should be ended, I also want to add that I think that it would be better to leave the final decision about it to the author and/or the audience. Since there isn't any known problem that would be caused by either option, I don't see why it should be enforced as a rule.

As a clarification for how the warp actually works, all of the full screen images are on the same screen, just with a different value assigned to them, so for example the 8 story cutscenes at the start of the game are scenes 1-8. After this point, the counter moves to 9, and then in a normal progression of the game, once you collect all 6 stars in the challenge, the game counter updates to the correct number for the Flipendo end screen. However, because the game never has the opportunity to update before you touch the end-level trigger, the game instead takes you to scene 9, which happens to be the end-game scene where you get given the final card.
Could you provide the RAM addresses? It may help to look for possible improvements.

My opinion is that committing suicide is not considerable as gameplay, as the purpose of a game is winning, not losing. So I think that the movie should be left as it is, and cut the encode right after the moment that the Rayquaza level has faded out.

Two years later, mGBA in BizHawk has finally introduced a fix for audio emulation of this game! For this reason, I officially request that the encode for this movie gets replaced with a resync on BizHawk 2.6.0 (and maybe also add the new movie file).
I already resynced it myself. You can download the new file from there: User movie #68854598426206624

Do you have a single core processor? Maybe BizHawk executes the NES core and the Lua core as separate threads, which would require at least two (maybe three) independent CPUs for the asynchronous process execution.

on the name, from what I'm seeing, "Triforce of the Gods" is just some unofficial translation? In this case, just the romanized name would be used (so instead of "The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods (塞尔达传说-三神之力)" it would just be "Sài ěr dá chuánshuō-sān shén zhī lì")
Yeah, I wasn't sure what to put for the name. Sài ěr dá chuánshuō-sān shén zhī lì literally translates to Zelda: Triforce of the Gods which is the same name of the game in Japanese. As it's a demake of that game, I thought it'd make sense to use that name but I'm happy for the mods to change it to whatever they like. Most of the time I just call it bootleg alttp lol.

I don't think I deserve to be included in the authors list, as my contribution was marginal. All I did was understand the music lag and apply some micro optimization on the first few minutes of the movie.
I watched the commentary in live streaming and I was very entertained by the optimized gameplay and tricks! Yes vote from me as well.

adelikat, Aglar,
I would like to object to these two being nominated for TASer of the year. For both of them, they’ve only made one movie this year while the other movie of theirs was an improvement done by someone else, while using their inputs.

hahaha actually...
you're right this time! i just dug out my own cartridge of the game and played it on my GBA SP and in fact i also saw those weird lines comming up even on the actual hardware.
I think this misunderstanding was caused by the fact that these lines are 1 pixel thin and appear only for 1 frame, making them much harder to notice on GB and Pocket GB, due to motion blur. Instead on GBA it should be much easier to notice, due to more modern display... Maybe it's time we implement motion blur emulation for GB, like BGB does? :)
I also nominate EZGames69. He's the perfect example of getting to the top despite the odds.
I also want to nominate Lobsterzelda, Mothrayas, and Memory.
