http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4192/Fighter%27s%20Destiny%20%28USA%29.m64 Just a quick little fullspeed run (with rerecords, duh ^_^) that I made for fun. Here's some quick notes, too, for entertainment purposes only. -I use Leon because Leon kicks ass. Plus we almost have the same hair. -I tried to go for as much variety as possible, which sometimes didn't work out. Stage One: Leon (CLONE!!!) Round One: Simple knockdown. Slight manipulation, too. Round Two: Manipulation on the throw. Round Three: Couldn't manipulate anything faster, so a BACKTHROW OMFG. Stage Two: Ninja (original?) Round One: I did this particular fight without rerecords, which is why it's so sloppy -_- First special, though! ^_^ Round Two: Simple knockdown. No manipulation required, either ^_^ Stage Three: Bob (palindrome) Round One: I didn't want to do a ringout, but hey, it's pretty fast ^_^ Round Two: Backthrow. Round Three: Special. A bit of manipulation, and only somewhat less sloppy than the Ninja fight. Stage Four: Tomahawk (native american?) Round One: Simple knockdown. Round Two: COUNTER DOWN! THREE POINTS WON! Round Three: Faster ringout, but repetitive -.- Stage Five: Valerie (sex kitten?) Round One: Ringout o.o I hate doing them, but it's variety. Round Two: Had to manipulate the knockdown. The slight flash is my haste in pressing the start button maniacally to skip the replay. It happens again. Round Three: Told you. Also counter. Stage Six: Abdul (hilarious) Round One: I like Abdul, he's big and fat and doesn't like to dodge. Special. Round Two: Quick knockdown as well. Stage Seven: Meiling (cute?) Round One: Remember the Ninja fight from a few thousand frames ago? Round Two: Ringout for variety. Round Three: I wanted to do a throw here but the knockdown was just a lot cooler for some reason. Stage Eight: Pierre (CLOWN.) Round One: The only Piyori-status knockdown, cause I was in the middle of a combo. Round Two: *tap left* *tap left* COUNTER. I love the counter, it's quick and fun to try to get ^_^ Round Three: Horrible ringout -.- I kinda wanted to finish the run more than optimize it, ya know? You'll like the next two fights, though. Stage Nine: Ryuji (made him my bitch) KNOCKDOWN, COUNTER, THROW. Last Stage: Boro (insane) Round One: I spent about 150 rerecords on this because I didn't want to take damage. I like the end result. Round Two: Simple knockdown. For some reason, input ended a few hundred frames earlier than I ended it, so you have to put my second place (-.-) time in yourself. Obviously if I had optimized this and spent TIME on it, it'd have been a lot faster. The Ninja and Meiling fights weren't all that great since I hardly used rerecords when fighting them o.o I use too many smilies. Anyway, enjoy the run, post your own, whatever. I'm not going to be submitting this, obviously.

Congrats, and calm down ^_^ I'll have something from Fighter's Destiny up tonight, hopefully, maybe a quick little fullspeed run. EDIT: Summary of everything I managed to edit o_o -Rice's 6.1.1 plugin works the best. -I'm an idiot and I forgot to uncheck RawData. -It works and I WILL actually have something. I'm starting a topic on it.

Fighters Desiny was the first acclaimed half decent beat em up on the N64. Personally I think the game has too many repetive fights since you only really ever fight 2 people in the game, that Kung Fu master guy whos very easy to beat but teaches you a new move every time you win and that Joker guy who is a whole different story.
The fights are repetitive, yes, and it's damn near impossible to pull off combos that look nice. If I pushed myself to make a movie, I'd just try to show off more than be fast, since the fastest way to win every fight would be to manipulate 3 Counters. Thing is, though, that the "Arcade Mode" (too lazy to remember real name) is usually really short, so ADHD run-watchers will be able to sit through it. I'd like to do Survival, though it'd get pretty repetitive after the first... maybe 20 fights? Still, if I made a run, I wouldn't submit it. I'd just post it on Microstorage and share for kicks ^_^ EDIT:

Once I get my schedules organized, I'll take a shot at it ^_^ I used to be a freak when it came to Pilotwings. I'd write down every strategy I'd have and all that. Good times. Unfortunately I was like, 8, and those papers have been lost. Forever.

Right now I'm checking out Fighter's Destiny. I dunno how good of a TAS it'll make, but I used to LOVE the game, and I might just make one for the hell of it ^_^ Edit: Judging from what I've played so far, the game runs great. Best graphics plugin from what I've tested is glN64.

I think you can manipulate the Jawas to drop weapon upgrades? EDIT: Well, good news and terrible news. First the good news: You can manipulate Jawas to drop what you want! Joy! Bad news: You aren't ever going to do this.
With the weapons thing, you're not really going to be facing anything tough until you get the Plasma Gun from intentional drops/pickups. The Sandcrawler miniboss can easily be taken out with the Rapid Ion Gun. The only thing manipulating a weapon drop would do, really, is save a couple frames since most normal enemies are/should be avoided anyway. I think.

Righteous. ^_^ It may only be a couple days (I get over things easily, usually), but it might also take a couple months. Either way, I will NOT give up! Last time I gave up, it was about half a day in to the project and I quit the forums o.o BUT NOT THIS TIME! ...Yeah, I'll continue on Saturday ^_^

Haha. Quest 64. If there wasn't major graphical errors (different colors and whatnot, PINK TEXT), I'd totally watch it. But there really isn't too much to do. I mean, certainly you'd be able to beat marshmallow's SDA run... Thing is, it'd probably be mostly through optimization of running, which is tough enough on Mupen. ...Yes, I tried to run this game -_-

Looking good ^_^ I scouted ahead and found out you'll get the Plasma gun right before Jawenko or whatever his name is. You'll have the Seeker all throughout the outside of the Sandcrawler, and the Rapid Ion all throughout the inside. I'm going to like seeing what you do with the Rapid Ion gun ^_^ Also, I don't know if you know about this, or if it'll be of any help, but inside the Sandcrawler, if you jump into a spike pit or quicksand and land right next to a platform/other wall, as long as you keep moving toward the wall, you won't get hurt/killed. Maybe I'll do Empire Strikes Back after my hiatus ^_^

It's Wednesday and I haven't done any more work on this. Since I'm clearing out my hard drive for reasons I'd rather not explain, I'm putting this project on hiatus. I will continue visiting the forums, and I'll devote my spare time to helping out anyone who wants to do a run on this. Though, if no one wants to, I will eventually continue ^_^

I did a bit of testing around with the first level. Strangely, I've watched my movie a couple times and it never desynched due to enemy placement. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4100/Super%20Star%20Wars%20%28U%29%2831438%29.smv It's all fullspeed. There's no boss manipulation and I stop a lot because of enemies. I just wanted to see how the manipulation thing worked, and I know now that it's really annoying -_- I also watched your run. It was great until the desynch ^_^ Keep it up!

Another quick checkback. Yes, I am still going to work on this. No, I probably won't finish this year. Yes, real life is more important to me ^_^ Even if I don't go through with the run, I hope what I do will influence future runners of this game. That being said, I don't think you'd be too impressed with the cheated run. It'd be really boring to have to sit through so many level-ups o_o I might do one with YEVLSYIA only, in fullspeed, but not tonight. Sometime next week if anything.

It's a game where you're a kobold named Murobo. And you're, like, superpowerful because you're the Goddess Hero or something like that. I love the battle system. It's somewhat like Zelda 2's, except with a party. I was just wondering if anyone's heard of the game, cause I'm considering doing a TAS on it. Since it's an RPG it may get boring (not to mention there's no clear way to manipulate random battles in the field), but there's enough action to keep me entertained, and since I'm entertained, of course you have to be! Disregard that last sentence. I felt especially sarcastic when writing that. Anyway, I'll do a bit of work. I did, however, find a glitch during a test run where the screen went black after a battle. I'll put up the test run (I did it at fullspeed so there's a lot of mistakes) sometime this week. I'm occupied with school and stuff most of the day, and I just came on to check up on the board before I go to sleep. Which I'm going to do now. EDIT: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4099/Kouryuu%20Densetsu%20Villgust%20Gaiden%20%28J%29.fcm That's a new quick test run I just completed. I didn't do too much, it ends a bit after the first 'boss'. Some quick things I'd like to point out: *You need to talk to the guy by the exit of the first town. It's just mandatory. *Re-entering town is the only form of luck manipulation I've found. I didn't want any overfield battles (cause it wastes time and such) so I had to enter and exit that many times. *The only way to recruit the Catperson (Sylvie) is to talk to the Catelder, who sends you on a Catquest to recruit a Catgirl (Lucia). *Murobo may be the slowest character, but he basically does like 10 times the amount of damage the Catpeople do. *The one hit I did with Sylvie allowed me to kill the Pumpkin Ghost with two hits from Murobo. Trust me. Killing off Sylvie is a lot faster than using... him/her to battle. *And for fair game, I kill off Lucia in the boss battle without even pulling off any hits, since she does 1 bar compared to Murobo's 12 bar hits. Enjoy the movie, I guess. I'm probably not gonna work on the game, though.

I'd either love to see this run made, or I'd like to do this run ^_^ I'm horrible with N64 TASing (I did a few test runs with Quest 64... not good), but since it's sidescrolling, it'd be a lot easier for me. Plus it's not an RPG so I can actively show things off! If need be, of course. I don't want to be swamped with projects (especially if people want to see KDVG done), so I'll wait on this.

I see now. You can glitch through the lobby doors because they're part of the same area. You learn something new every day ^_^

A question about the so-called "Lobby Glitch." Scold me all you want if this has been asked before, it's 4:10 in the morning here and I'm not looking back through a bunch of pages to find an answer. I don't understand the physics or anything, but is it possible, with enough control, to use the Lobby Glitch to glitch through the upstairs locked door? And if it is, would we need to make a new category for "0 star" runs? ^_^

Whaaaat o_o I could've sworn Toad and Koopa were the fastest. Apparently I got SMK back in the days before I read the manuals (...yeah, I did, I started reading manuals after I got Final Fantasy 8). Am I confusing acceleration with top speed?

No. Not Karateka. Karateka's one of the most boring games I've played, and IMO it wouldn't make an enjoyable TAS. I'll bring up Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust Gaiden. It seems interesting enough. Anyone played it?
