Does my palette really do? :-0
Yes. The background is fine, but the sprites still have that obtrusive red that looks ok on doors, but ugly on samus. I also agree with nitsuja on the color distribution. That blue lava is a bit misleading too, grey would help.

Why does the door stay open in the 1st Torizo battle? It seemed so easily done.
it closes after a fixed amount on frames. Since the PAL-Version runs at 50 Hz, that amounts to a bit more real-time than on NTSC, which is just enough to escape before it closes. IIRC someone posted here that it's possible to get stuck in the door on NTSC while it closes, but nobody managed to get through.

I tried it on the last windows-PC on my network, an amd K6-III 450 with a riva tnt 2. It did not run at FULL SPEED. I want my money back. oh well, it's an early beta. Let's check back on it in a couple of years.

nice link.
So if you moved the robot an inch, it would hit the gutter every time?
no, it wouldn't. The wiimote's accelerometers only detect acceleration (hence the name), not it's position relative to the tv. It doesn't matter if you keep bowling out of the window, if you keep the motion steady the ball will roll straight. the position to your tv is only important when using the wiimote as a pointer, but the pointing mode is using an IR sensor, not the accelerometers.

the linked Maintainance Requirements will give them a bit of trouble:
The emulator must be freely available via Internet without subscriptions or fees.
  • It should be available for Windows.
  • It should be available for Linux.
  • It should be available for Mac OSX.
  • It should be customizable (source code included).

~> du -sh ~/files/video/speedruns/ 90G /home/tub/files/video/speedruns/ ~> du -sh ~/emulation/ 40G /home/tub/emulation/ although the first misses some speedruns I downloaded on my notebook and the second includes roms, isos, savegames, emulator movies etc.

that's a virtualizer, not an emulator. It's not technically possible.

for best results, you should save the video uncompressed (or with a fast lossless codec), then re-encode it to xvid using proper settings. re-encoding can be done with VirtualDub for example.

if you just want basic chatting without bothering about privileges, operator rights and bans, x-chat is just fine. It's not made for the die-hard irc addicts, but it's perfect for #nesvideos :)

I'm probably forgetting something important, but what was the lullaby needed for except entering zora's domain the usual way? I'm currently thinking about - be a true hero and ditch the damsel (i.e. no castle visit) - fishing pond (golden scale + steal rod) - dive into zd and finish jabu (somehow without the sword) - bottle adventure but of course I'm missing something. What is it?

personal attacks aside, I think anyone who wants to continue guano's run should ask him for permission first. If anyone may decide about the issue it's guano himself.

didn't JXQ use the forward walljump in his 100% v2, in the long lava room between norfair elevator and speed booster?

unless your ISP explicitly stated the filtering in the contract: sue those idiots. Or start with a very clear letter asking why they are deliberately violating the contract.

I guess they were removed to allow the two-column-layout. I don't see where they could be added without destroying the layout in lower resolutions, except maybe on a tooltip.

Captain Bisqwit, thank you for saving planet earth again. This movie has issues similar to most RPG games: long repeating sequences, while the good stuff (story) is mostly skipped. In those cases entertainment often depends on the knowledge on the game. I don't know the game (back in those days I had my Amiga), and my reward for sitting through long flying sequences were a couple of fights, flying over planet surfaces and viewing some NPCs with skipped dialogues. Except for the fights, I had no clue what was going on. If the game is popular enough, publish it anyway. As for the poll question: No, I didn't enjoy it.

without repeating arguments: I don't think this new rank would help in any way. The few core members who would understand the formulas behind the rank are likely to know each player's achievements anyway.

if he can't sneak into the database to set his ninja title, he obviously isn't one! actually, I just wanted to ask if the published avi contains the input display?

voting yes just to state the obvious. I found those subtitles hard to read at times, but it's a cute idea anyways. +1 creativity point.

What's the advantage you get from disabling the spazer?
you need to disable all beams but one + charge beam to do the power bomb charged shot that is used to kill botwoon quickly. Disabling the spazer that early is probably just a way to say "I don't need no stinking beams, I got a truckload of missiles!"

what did you do to bloat the snes9x executable from 385K to 1168K? the input display patch wasn't that huge..
