but Linkin Park is about as over-used as anything from the matrix soundtrack. It's probably a good idea to use something released under a CC license.

Using markup to distinguish between CONSTANTS, ClassNames and local_variables isn't unheard of, but it can be done without sacrificing readability with ugly prefixes. I consider the prefixing of variable types to be worse, like bDone, sErrorMessage or uiCounter. (10 lines of rant about hungarian notation deleted) this is getting a little bit offtopic :)

I'm too lazy to re-read the book to remind me of the details (also, I'm ~400 km away from that book), so one example shall suffice: in the first edition they advocated hungarian notation and other coding styles that are practically unmaintainable. It did sound well-researched and thought out, and there were some good arguments for using hungarian notation. Using it is still a PITA and a lot of work that'll only pay off in a small fraction of scenarios: when skimming badly written code with huge variable scopes. Yeah, Microsoft stopped using hungarian notation by now, and I really hope all the other WTFs are gone in the second edition as well. I'm just saying that you shouldn't blindly trust that book.

I've read the first Edition of Code Complete a couple of years ago, and today I'm glad I didn't follow their examples. I don't know if the Second Edition is better - at least it'll be less outdated.

if it actually is a DNS problem, why don't you just add the IP to etc/hosts?

I didn't check, but you could try increasing /proc/sys/fs/file-max ..

I suppose it wouldn't take too much to emulate either of the Xboxes because of the PC friendly (AFAIK) code of their games
similarities in hardware design or system api can only be used for speed if you write a high level emulator. Unfortunately, high level emulators are prone to desyncs and not too suitable for TASing.

yes, it does. Since topic_id is a primary key the LIMIT is useless, but it doesn't hurt either.

Actually, Tub was right, and I appreciate that he said what he did kindly. I like his link about asking questions.
You're welcome. I've given this speech/link on several occasions, but you're the first one to actually read the link, learn from it and acknowledge your oversight. Thumbs up!

so, what are we going to do about it? Should we ask him about his mother brain plans, give him a few pointers, maybe invite him over? Or are we just going to sit and watch?

Am I the only one who likes these cutscenes?
I'd do the same if I had never played the game. But as I have, I like to skip them. unfortunately VBA crashed halfway through. Looks like another yes-vote from me, but I'll try watching the rest of it before clicking the button.

Dromiceius wins, because his activity is the only one truly unproductive. I just wasted some time on that tetris clone and got to level 87. The secret to success is simple: do NOT blink when the game starts.

The FPS cinematics [..] It's a new concept introduced in movies, so I guess maybe I should give it more leeway.
There was an earlier movie featuring wiggly first-person scenes. Blair witch project.

well, we all know how the DoA movie turned out. For those that ask themselves, "DoA movie...?", you're right! :P
it wasn't as trashy as the Street Fighter movie, and the fight scenes were good. With only 2 of the 4 main chicks being ugly they offer a far better quota than real life does, and that beach volleyball scene was 50% extremely hot. What, did you expect a plot? I guess I'll watch whichever RE movie comes out. Castlevania sounds fun as well. Max Payne.. I'll decide after watching a trailer. But actually, I'll wait for the dvd releases, because I like my movies english.

The gameplay of diablo 2 with the graphics of GuildWars or Spellforce and a native linux client. If I got that kind of game I'd sell my wii.

There aren't any plans to develop these emulators on this site, because tasvideos is about creating tas, not about developing emulators. The emulators that are used here were created somewhere else, and only slightly modified to fit this site's rules. If you want to know about emulation projects, you're better off looking somewhere else. I'm not aware of any emulators for the consoles you mentioned, but maybe someone else can give pointers / links.

There are no emulators yet for those platforms. Without emulators, no tool-assisted speedruns can be made. Until a TAS can actually be produced, there's no need to make any plans. Consequently no plans have been formulated.

no, actually you were asking a question that was so badly worded that it's difficult to give a good answer without guessing a lot. Try asking more specific questions and giving more detail. The important thing is, what do you want to use the "avi editor" for? Are you talking about simple encoding / transcoding-jobs, do you need to add several videos together / do cutting, or do you need something to add effects, captions, copyright-messages or other things to videos? Maybe something completely different? Unless you word your questions carefully, you shouldn't be picky about answers that don't exactly match the question. By the way, this is a good read. Not about video editing, but about asking questions.

WINE + snes9x works fine on linux, I guess it shouldn't be a problem on a mac.

ingame. drewseph's WIP was 1h49 real time, getting that sub 1 just won't happen.

well, if the user installed Acrobat Reader with the Browser plugin, it's as easy as linking to the pdf. I'd rather download the pdf and watch it in my favourite pdf reader than being forced to use a flash-gui or download megabytes of jpegs.

wait, why doesn't the crouch-stab do more damage than just holding the endless sword into him? is PG a rare enemy that only registers the number of hits, not the damage? JXQ: yes, mwl appears a bit odd at times, but who doesn't? Unless Guano complains, I don't see the need to start an argument.
