Kyrsimys: my friends call me Tub. By brother calls me Tub. My girlfriend calls me Tub.. but I don't call any of them with their real names either. I can out-nerd Warp anytime. :p btw, there's already a thread about nick-related storys, if you somehow missed it.

Well, you'd certainly hit a spot on that clichee list, but that's about all :)

I was told the mock-springball could save time, but this is ridiculous. Very nice.

I have the latest version, though I thought something was wrong when SNES9x gave me 'mismatch' when I tried to play the movie.
There are two different versions for the hack, one for the headered rom and one for the unheadered. Both are completely equal except for said header, and thus a different crc. Saturn's SMV contains the CRC of the headered rom, probably still from version 2.0 final. If you use 2.1 and/or the unheadered rom, you'll end up with a different CRC and a mismatch-warning. Don't worry, if it played back fine this time, it'll play back fine in the future.

BOMF, as was explained earlier in this thread, "copy framebuffer to DRAM" with any plugin that isn't rendering in software can cause desyncs and will probably give the encoders a headache. There is no stable software rendering plugin yet, so the best option for now is to live with the delay.

This might sound like a crazy idea but if it is possible, since hex editing is a problem with OoT, can 3 .avi's be made. 1 of Game start to entering Hyrule Field 2 of skipping the 1st owl until Guerdo Valley 3 from Guerdo Valley until end of game I think the latest Nero does a good job at video editing and .avi splicing.
the technical issues of video editing are not the problem (most publishers should be able to do it). It's just against the rules, as the authenticity of the run cannot be proven if there is no controller input sequence to recreate the full movie. You could ask bisqwit if he makes an exception, but I doubt he will.

I don't mind the outdated graphics, but watching Star Fox games never entertained me. Riscy maneuvers aren't enough to keep me interested for 20 minutes, and there wasn't anything in the run that managed to surprise me. Don't get me wrong, this run is probably as good as a Star Fox TAS can be, I just think that the game is boring to watch. But that might be because I never played the game, so I'll vote Meh instead of No.

this hack is freaking huge, and it starts quite slow. Later on, there are a couple of impressive TAS-only sequence-breaks, and it'll get more interesting from then onwards. You could hunt down atma's or Drew's WIPs from earlier in this thread to see a small preview of things to come. Like most TAS, you need to play the game to truly appreciate everything that's going on. Otherwise you wouldn't recognize some shortcuts or sequence breaks. If you liked Super Metroid, I can really recommend playing this one. It's not easy, but probably the best hack there is.

Name Change Cascade - If a user has two name changes, it will be very likely that they will want a third.
Same with Sex Changes. Really. Here's one I rediscovered yesterday evening: If you finally get back on the forums after a longer downtime, you'll be disappointed to see that there are no new posts.

yes, the avi plays back fine for me, must be a problem with your system. My guess is a missing or faulty codec. Saturn, good job on the subtitle placement btw.

You can actually make it fullscreen or change to any desirable size with this button:
that button does nothing on linux, because the crappy linux version doesn't support fullscreening. Saturn, while I love watching new WIPs from you every now and then, I'd really like to see a finished run once in a while. What happened to the RBO everyone keeps waiting for?

When I'm loading an emulator game to take a break, I will usually use the tools, because redoing stuff sucks. But usually when I'm just taking a break, I'll play some FPS, emulator games are reserved for longer gaming sessions. Ill in bed with lots of time, I decided to answer this thread with a Super Metroid movie. Let me say this first: I played SM exactly twice before. I know strategies and item locations mostly from watching speedruns. I did play a ton of Super Metroid hacks though, abusing quicksave each time. As I never played without quicksave and remembered the hacks as being quite hard, I didn't expect to finish the game. Every item was grabbed as early as possible to increase my chances of survival. While playing, I decided I might as well go for 100%. The result is 99%, because I didn't dare to grab the Crocomire Energy Tank right after killing him, and forgot about it later. stupid. oh, one more thing: this run features the second time in my life I successfully did a mockball without slowdown. I was surprised myself. enough babbling, here's Super Metroid 99% in 1:59. Now I wonder if anyone will watch 2h40 of mediocre playing..

Not unexpected. Too bad his TASing skills aren't matched by his social abilities. oh well, let any one of you who is without geekdom be the first to throw a stone at him.

If you're worried about the possibility that a user might install something to improve his browser that could break his system, then use lynx. Every major graphical browser has a plugin-interface for flash and others which can be abused in the exactly same way. The issues with ActiveX are different ones, most of which simply don't exist in Firefox Extensions.

That's Nihilanth, end boss of the original Half-Life. In Opposing force, you just kill a green tentacle thing trying to come through a dimensional door.

no, this one isn't dead, he's just lying on his back, playing. You can notice he's alive because his ear is still in the air. The ear of the dead guy is flat on the floor. but yeah, taking that image as a basis for an opposite mood wasn't the best idea. but actually I am playing around right now, because lack of sleep prevents me from coding.

Thank you. :) I'm not the dog-type myself, but this image lacks all the negative aspects of real dogs. He's not aggressive, wouldn't trash my place, doesn't smell and never requests a walk during snowstorms. He's also quite intelligent, watch the new trick I taught him! Combined with the sentimental value I mentioned, I just like him. Also, I never found an image of a cat as fitting as this.

[img_left]http://www.authmann.de/misc/avatar_emotions.png[/img_left] my avatar might be known, that image has been floating around the net for more than 10 years. I use it because it's cute, because it's easy to identify and remember me by, and because it reminds me of my first experiences on the net. My current avatar, the default one, is exactly that gif, flipped so he faces left. I flipped it upside-down and modified it to get the tired one. The 3 others are frames from a low-color gif animation of the dog running, to which I added proper shading and the ball. The dog leaning on Bisqwit's helmet is still low-color because I drew it before the playful guy. Bisqwit, if you want to get that ugly low-color pixelized thing with the unrealistic shadow off of you, you should give him a cookie :)

maybe there's an error message you missed. Try starting mplayer from the console and pasting the error message. You might also have missed something when installing mplayer from sources. If you're new to linux, you're better off installing mplayer via your distribution's package manager.

well, how do you usually open grey doors, when you know that all required bosses have been fought? and what might you need to do that?
