Alright, I got confused. The submission text mentions that the player selects normal mode, so I directly thought that hard mode was available. Whereas hard mode isn't available by default.

I don't have a possibility to watch this movie, but I've seen the Rockman Zero 4 run by Xaphan. I'd vote no for the reasons stated above plus that this run wasn't played at the hardest level. Was there a good reason to use the normal difficulty level?

Thanks for sharing this DeHackEd, I really appreciate it. At least someone supports people using the "right" OS. In the end, I couldn't compile this. I'm using gcc 4.3.6. I'm not a programmer so the error message was cryptic (the latest lines): /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp:1855: warning: unused variable 'skipframes' /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp:1859: warning: unused variable 'FromPause' /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp:1866: error: `FromPause' was not declared in this scope /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp:1866: warning: unused variable 'FromPause' /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp: In function `const char* S9xSelectFilename(const char*, const char*, const char*, const char*)': /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp:2322: error: `FromPause' was not declared in this scope /home/turambar/snes9x-improvement7-src-unix-dehacked-June20_2k6/snes9x/unix/x11.cpp:2322: warning: unused variable 'FromPause' make: *** [unix/x11.o] Error I also tried to enable jma decompressing from the beginning, but I had problems. Firstly the configure script says to use --with-jma switch, but after examining the configure script I found out that the correct switch is --with-jmadecomp. With the correct switch, the process failed with some files in the jma directory. I assume that this version is truly under construction, but I think this feedback is welcome.

I apologize for continuing this almost off-topic discussion, but something really hurt my eyes: Integral (Riemann) is only defined for continuous real valued functions. Asteron did really wrong, his post mixed integral and real valued sequences, sequence probably being non-continous function from the set of natural numbers to the field of real numbers. Asteron's post really convinced me, for a second.

As I have watched the WIPs a bit, and read the Final Fantasy 6 thread, I think I can say "yes". I think this reply counts as a yes vote, unfortunately I can't just vote yet. Nevertheless the movie will be published, and I'm really looking forward to it (the encoded version). This game is perhaps the second on my best games ever top list. Really awesome work, thanks a lot!

You asked for suggestions: I didn't try out the program, but judging from the earlier posts, the tool is made for Windows. Make the program cross-platform from the beginning. Really, although I propably won't ever make a single TAS, there are a few TASers, who I know, using Linux here. There is also Mac OS X. From my experience, cross-platform programming isn't too difficult. Just use universal libraries (there are even cross-platform libraries for creating guis). Making the program work on other operating systems will propably make plug-in system more complex, maybe it should be changed into general loader. And of course you will release the source, won't you?

Seems that lurkers can rate a movie. I think lurkers shouldn't be allowed to rate movies, like they aren't allowed to vote for new movies. Although I'm a lurker myself, I think it would decrease abusement, and it would keep the ratings more reasonable.

Mainly offtopic: Trash those wmv videos, use something better like H.264. Thanks DeHackEd for providing the video, though I haven't watched it yet. Perhaps I'll download it in the evening. Ontopic: Great job Catastrophe (and Erim). Please do not stop writing those long descriptions, I'm really interested in the techical side of the run. Plus by reading them I don't necessarily have to watch the video, beacause I remember the game very well.

Although it is off-topic, which encodes have not been good lately?
Sorry, I think I said it too harshly, but if I remember right there were one or two lower quality encodes this year (not the DKC ones). I'll investigate, I may have already deleted the videos or I may have been really drunk while watching them. I'll tell you in PM or IRC or something, if I find out.

Awesome run! Especially the way Bisqwit entered Bombman's room. The funny thing is that I cursed that I don't have a working FCEU, but then I realised that Bisqwit gave me the sources some weeks ago :) Now I'm just waiting for an encode to be archived. Hopefully the encode is good, unlike some encodes lately.

That list is amazing, I wonder if it really could be done that way. If all that is possible, I can't even wait for the WIP's. Getting Gold Scale would be great, I never got it myself.

Okay, so this "wide room" propably appears when the game is going to crash i.e. a bug occurs. Perhaps something similar to Zelda's Chris Houlihan Room. Anyway, this bug could propably be used in other levels than 1-1 and 2-1. That would shorten the game a lot, but would result a really boring movie. I wonder if it would be possible to skip boss levels this way.

I just remembered one thing about this game. I remember that ten years ago when I got this game I encountered a glitch or bug, whatever. It is the same trick that is used in the published run in level 2-1. The difference is that while playing bored I did it in level 1-1. I'm not sure if it is already discussed here or in the SDA, but anyway I'm going to explain it a little. I think this would shorten level 1-1 or perhaps someone finds out what causes the glitch and therefore it could be used in other levels too. My own cart was bought in 1995 and it is PAL version. I know there are versions 1.0 and 1.1 around, and I think mine is 1.0. Not to mention: I have pulled off this trick more than once. If I recall right, I did it another time because it was so much fun. I took a shot to reduce the amount of writing: http://koti.mbnet.fi/jsp_/yoshi.png The thing is that if I remember correctly, I stomp-jumped (press down in air) many times on the stones under the arrow sign. I'm only sure that the glitch happened when I landed on the area made by those two blocks. The enemies were propably killed, because I was doing this weird thing. What happened next was that Yoshi was taken to the sky (same, long room as in the movie), I always died there, because the room has really wide pit. I tried to hover to the far right, but I couldn't back then. I'm pretty sure it is the same room as in the currently published movie, and if Yoshi could hover to the far right, Yoshi would end near the end of level 1-1. I tried to reproduce this glitch with Zsnes, but I failed (didn't try long though). I tried it also tool-assisted, but I don't have a clue how you people do it :) I hope someone would try this, and I also hope this would prove to be useful.

Didn't have time to watch the whole run, but I watched the first eight levels, and I must say that this is a lot better than the previous movie. I liked especially Gravity Man, Gyro Man and Wave Man levels. Clever usage of the Super Arrow, and the few new glitches impressed me. Also great luck manipulation. I'd vote yes, if I could.
