IIRC, that doesn't work in this game, each dungeon's keys are stored separately. No more townsfolk warning you to "use keys in the dungeons they are found"

I really think this game has star potential. At any rate, I really would look forward to watching if someone went through with it.

Do you believe relief work for 3rd world countries to be worthwhile? It may prevent suffering now, but it also could be argued that it props up a population that is not self sustaining, and will cause that population to grow into further dependence, but that argument often comes from people who are just rationalizing.

Does everyone else see his post as being full of question marks? Was he being funny, or are my language settings messed up in a really bizarre way? (sorry for being somewhat off-topic, couldn't really ask that elsewhere)

I played a lot of WoW over the last few years, but I eventually quit because of how stupid PVP gets at the endgame. I can't believe anyone would watch that, its not really suited for competitive play for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is how severely luck can impact a match. Even though I could follow arena matches in wow, I don't for the simple reason that most matches can come down to a lucky crit or proc. The "skill" in playing that game has more to do with putting in the time to get gear; actually playing a character at 70 was about as difficult as driving on the highway. The kind of thing that some people find a way to suck at, but only takes basic skill to get to the point everyone else is.

Where do you watch those games ?
http://www.esl.eu/eu/wc3l/ is the main site for what is (arguably) the most prestigious league. The replay files they offer require a fully patched copy of warcraft 3 to view, but I find the matches enjoyable. I really wouldn't mind a link to a good source of starcraft replays, I don't really find which leagues are active, and what the update schedule is like, as most of the site are in Korean.

I almost didn't realize how unwatchable WC3 is if you never played the game. A friend of mine wanted to watch some replays, so I gave him links of what were in my opinion the best couple of matches played this season, but he had nothing to say but "meh". This fact alone makes me surprised that ESL WC3L doesn't go under, but I glad its still around. There is something amazing watching the top few players in the world play it out, the things they can pull off are almost unbelievable.

It occurred to me that most of my computer time these days is filled with watching pro matches of WC3, and watching TASes. I guess I like watching people play game more then I like playing them myself, and I was wondering if anyone else finds watching pro-gaming appealing, and if so, what games do you most prefer? *Please hold all "likes to watch" jokes for the end*

It depends on how much of a manipulative sociopath you are. Taking a step back and analyzing what outcomes you want, and making the right moves to bring them about is a simple matter, but take it from someone who has been there before: don't do it, it will bring you nothing but a world of shit. Acting like a manipulative asshole makes you become one (with time and practice). Don't snoop, don't plan your next move, don't play the angles. Confront the situation and be done with it. I don't mean to come off harsh, but I've been there, and I really don't like the way things turned out.

I only brought it back up because you denied knowing about it. You are one of the least rewarding people to communicate with I have ever encountered. You seem to be simultaneously immune to reason, logic, and common courtesy, so I don't think its worth my time to read anything you write again. Standing out of the sea of stupidity that is the internet is an accomplishment. You are a blight in an otherwise enjoyable and well mannered community.

Neither would surprise me. The date on the video says it was discovered a week shy of 2 years ago. And if he video were fixable, and you fixed it, we could reduce this discussion to the merits of bringing the category back without having the issue clouded by a movie many people would rather not see on the site. At least then there would only be 1 issue instead of 2.

Also, keep in mind that frame counts are only really important when compared to how well optimized the movie is as a whole. finding 15 seconds in a movie that is a first version, and not exactly time tested is not a big deal, but in a game as thoroughly researched as super metroid it really is. Especially when the author left them out intentionally. Especially when the tricks are over a year old. Especially when they were left out in an effort to keep the rest of the community in the dark. That and that it is an obsolete category.* I honestly don't see why this is even still up for discussion. I think the decision should be obvious. *Most important reason

I hope this is not a response to the added stress of updating the main page, I don't like it what a hobby gets ruined just because you feel pressed to spend too much time on it. At any rate, I will help out in any way I can, but I'm afraid that there is not much on the list I am qualified to do. Public relation is the only one I could even come close to doing properly, and I can think of at least 12 people who know the history more completely, and would be a better face for the community. (should probably go to one of you with the 2004 account creation date!)

I think the idea should be to give a set of videos that newcomers will find most appealing, and a detail that should be weighed carefully in that decision is to keep the list populated with more known games. A few like Umihara Kawase (sp?) that are especially crazy is fine, but runs like Battle of Olympus, which are in my opinion entertaining enough to merit the honor should probably be left out because the game is relatively unknown. People like seeing runs of games they have played before, and that needs to be considered when we look at what runs would best appeal to newcomers.

Part 18 in my Let's Watch / Link's Awakening series is done. You can view the full series of the videos as well. It's different from a typical Let's Play in that it isn't realtime voice commentary, but post-recording annotation commentary, hence the name change. It also focuses a lot on bad jokes and interesting details about the game itself and some of its inner workings.
episode 7 link to 9 instead of 8. Fun to watch too =O

Is the other reason that the category has been obsolete since the discovery of the x-ray glitch?

Was that the article that discussed recovering cryptographic key information from RAM once the computer was recently powered off, by cooling the RAM using liquid nitrogen to prevent the information from degrading? I thought the idea seemed far fetched, but I have no real information for that perception, my understanding of how RAM works on a molecular level is limited to say the least.
