I see the logic in it, but to me it is far more reasonable to list any% if time was the main objective. If low% is distinct from that, it may deserve its own category, but this is no longer the case. The real trouble is that it isn't listed as obsoleting anything... this seems like the worst thing that could be done.

It is good to realize that some games will be helped immensely, others not at all. One game that could be well optimized would be super metroid, if the optimal rout were decided on, each room could be brute forced and optimized individually. (with a few complicating factors).

Sorry to hear of your subway woes, it can be a mess in NYC. Esp. when crazy homeless people wont stop talking to you once onboard. Did you fly into LaGuardia JFK or Newark?

you don't say "hey" or "sorry", you say "excuse me".
Of course, in New York, "up yours" would be more traditional.

I watched it, and it was both well made and enjoyable.
Everything else is the same, even the credits!
This is the exact reason the (u) rom should have been used. It is clearly stated in the site rules. That said, it might be a bad reason to refuse the run outright, but using weird roms (other then the ones used in previous attempts) is a major pet peeve of mine. If there is a good reason for the switch, by all means do so, but doing it for shits and giggles it just plain irritating. So that said, the run should probably be accepted, but a note should be made that because gameplay is identical, future runs should use (u) version. (in accordance to site rules)

Using the J rom for something as mundane as ~2 seconds of boss animations a few times in the run is silly. The game mechanics are the same, and all this selection does is frusterate the people watching your runs. only use a non-(u) rom if you have a good reason to do so. Voting no for bad rom choice.

SDA does weird things for labeling their runs, and you linked a perfect example. The scheme here makes sense, and it will continue to do so if this run is listed as an any% glitched run.

I for one, would really like a section like that added. Honestly, it would be smart to add here before someone creates a competing site dedicated only to that, because I think there is a decent sized audience for it.

Warp is right, this is a any% run. What needs to happen along side that is the low% run should list this as obsoleting it, and no more low% runs should be accepted unless a lower item collection percentage is reached. I don't see why this is unclear.

It hasn't been a problem with Zelda:ALttP nor Rygar. Why should it be a problem in this case? Sure, in those two examples the rules are, strictly speaking, also "arbitrary", but IMO not so much. They make sense and allow for two enjoyable versions of the run.
"glitchless" sounds less arbitrary then what would be needed to make the current runs qualify. The problem is you would need to define a list of allowable glitches, and a list of banned ones. Or go with the all bosses idea, though some of the same out of bounds movement may still help for that.

Unless the DVD found by the authorities features something as hilarious as horse porn... (srsly, for your sanity, don't google that one)

There would be no problem, but the trouble is (as I understand it) that the ones it looks to obsolete are not actually "non-glitched" so calling them that would be wrong. In order to justify them not being obsoleted, a really strange and arbitrary list of allowable glitches would have to be drawn up. This might be kind of lame for the obvious reasons, so we shouldn't lower our standards by retro-activly re-defining the rules of a published run. oddly reminiscent of the 16-star mario 64 situation, that it makes for entertaining runs, but defining the goals makes it sound too arbitrary.

Its nice, but 8 stars is not much to write home about. I would gladly vote yes if that run were finished at that quality.

That really is not the point of this site, and it cheapens what is trying to be done here to suggest that it is. Look, 70 stars is not any more arbitrary then countless other already published runs. "glitchless" is often well accepted.

Too good of an improvement to ignore. Would prefer to see a more optimal run, but I have to go with yes. One thing that should be mandatory is detailed submission text, I think the tricks used should be explained, and more importantly what items/songs were glitched into being when.

I do hope that level of precision could be applied to a 70 star run. Its a category that has been discussed before, but it seems more relevant now that there is such a huge divide between 0 and 120 star runs. Either way, well done. fun to watch, and seeing the new methods was really cool.

Wouldn't it be a lot faster to take the red coin star in bowser 2 instead of boarding the sub?

Its like petitioning KFC because you don't like their chicken. If you actually want to prove a point, just don't see the movies he makes. That way, for you at least, it will be as if that petition was in full effect!

Yes vote. and extra thumbs up for using the same rom, and not caving in to these J rom people.
