Largely an exercise in luck manipulation, but the right length for what it is. Yes vote here.

SMASH, all versions. Brawl in particular at this point. Warcraft 3 and C&C 3 as well. I play a lot of TF2 these days, but I'm not as good at that as I ever was at your standard RTS. Also, SC I guess. Used to live in the top 100 on ladder, but I was in middle school then =P

Trouble is, this discovery means a total re-do, as it diverges from the old run after it gets the sword and shield.

This game gets weirder all the time. Insane amount of improvement, but no published runs to show for it! I like the way the publication of SM64 went a lot more, if you look at the various obsoleted runs, you can see a nice evolution of tricks being discovered. This game on the other hand, will have only a long-assed, run through that was only decently optimized, then an amazing glitch fest that anyone would be proud of.

Where are you even going to need it now? I dont think you will need it as a kid, and I dont see where you will ned it as an adult. Is there someplace in gannon's tower Im forgetting?

(correct me if Im wrong) What you do to get the ocarina is get the 3 stones through BA, then get the ocarina of time. Now that I think about it though, it may not be needed at all anymore, because the main reason you needed it before is in the process of becoming an adult, so unless there is something I missed (very possible), I dont even think it will be needed.

All I ever had was the first Ipod they ever started selling. It broke a while ago, and I decided I never want to own another.

It shouldnt cost too much if you end up buying a new mic. I know that the bestbuy near where I live sells a decent one for 15$, so I bet you could find something in that price range.

has it been confirmed that this doghouse glitch is different then then the one that can be entered in the first dungeon, using the feather? The area it gets you access too seems to be similar. note the rom used was not the DX version, but rather the 1.0 one http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2581/MoreLaGlitches.vbm http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/2582/Chest%20glitch.vbm

afic the only that that needs to change is that the first person to discover a trick, and submit it, or post it here deserves the credit. There is no real reason to be mad at saturn. Just give taco the credit he deserves for the trick he discovered, and ignore whatever claims anyone else makes about when they knew about it. What frustrates me about running this game is that others are already too good at it. The only interesting things I have come up with so far that is not already known/published are exactly 2 places where you can go a slightly different path (within a given room) at no frame loss. And these seem like they were known, as IMO the published versions look better. I dont think I want to continue work on this game.

I cant complain too much. there are only like 3 characters that I really, really dont want to play as, and I liked that I was able to avoid it entirely. SSE is really not the strongest part of the game but it was amusing. All I really want to do it play Vs. against friends.

I was surprised to find a fairly lively community around denver, The idea of competing in actual tournaments never really came to mind until recently. This could turn out to be fun

Allow me to reiterate

Why am I called racist for understanding and recognising differences between Western and Japanese game studios? It's a well-understood difference. Read this article.
As much fun as it is to recognize differences in tendencies, as soon as you make generalizations about a person's ethnic group, you are a racist. Believe it or not, the problems you observed in half-life are problems created by a single developer. Even if other developers in the same country often share in that flaw, that does not excuse brash accusations about an ethnic group.

Bullshit, and you know it. "unique"? I can think of several counter examples, right off the top of my head. I could come up with more if it was worth itemizing a list. Patronizing fuck.

A lot of people like Western games. I don't. Why does that make me racist?
It doesn't, your sweeping generalizations about a particular race does. Next time, just keep your mouth shut. If you don't like the decisions made by some developer, say so, but don't pretend like it stems from some deep-seeded flaw in western thinking. As shocking as it may be, the western world is comprised of many individuals, some of whom might be able to wrap their heads around the founding concepts that make many Japanese games great.

The first one seems most promising of all... there has got to be a way to make this work. Would be a shame for the SDA people if it turns out to require precision impossible in real time, since they discovered most of this and all.

Don't fault the player for the faults of the game. Both of your examples are from PC-land, and are Western games no less, and both of these add up to a very different mentality than our console-and-Japanese focus over here. You want to follow the story in Half-Life? That's a first - most people just want to stack doors on people's heads and shoot them while they don't notice and keep talking, so that's what you get. You want to look at good graphics? Well, I'm sorry, but the lack of standardisation of hardware (and effort by developers) means the game looks like crap at low settings, which are the only settings anyone who doesn't have a spare $5000 every 6 months can manage. These are not faults of the speedrunners. If they are faults (and in my opinion they are) then the blame rests entirely with the Western studios who make the games.
5000$ every six months? Don't be stupid. You were talking about half life, not Crysis, right? The fact is, it would be neither difficult nor costly to get a PC that could do the job, but this speed runner didn't bother. Normally, I wouldn't care to mention it, but since you brought it up... Also, I love the way you blame "the western studios" instead of simply blaming "the studios" that make the games. as if anything that doesn't come from japan is worthy of the honor of being the subject of a speed run. So lets finish off with a rhyme: You make me sick, you racist prick.
