As long as we are wallowing in menutia, do we need to define joke? Or can we accept that everyone here knows what a joke is, and apply this wonderful principal to april fools' jokes in general?

Meh. Using death to steal more might make it more fun to watch, seeing as how it would shorten the run as a whole, and would only remove the diversions that farm money. No huge loss.

How do you mean? no BLJ, no MIPS, no passing through walls that were not intended to be passed through (its fairly easy to tell which). If there are spacific questions, it shouldnt be too hard to follow the spirit of the thing, but those questions would be best left to the author.

Im wondering if people would be more interested in seeing a 70 star glitchless run... Would be closer to how people remember playing the game, and plotting the rout would make for an interesting challange. Best of all, the goal would be really well defined, Kill bowser for the third time as fast as possable while not abusing any glitch. Would showcase many of the games levels without being quite as cumbersome as a 120 star run.

Viewing AVIs will be much better in an era where games are a few hundred megs (psx) or a few gigs (GC). That seems like a major stumbling block for tasing all disc based systems.

I have played better games that I got for free in a box of cereal (not kidding), but the run brought me more entertainment then the cart ever did. Yes vote.

How about two autoscrollers? Galaga + gradius, perhaps?
stellar idea, mostly because galaga uses mostly left and right, while gradius is mostly up and down. This might turn out to be somethign to see.

Not sure that would work all that well as a TAS, seeing as how well this game can be played by hand... The tas wouldnt add much to the non-assisted speedruns.

come off the high horse... Camera voodoo is not that entertaining. Its no loss, the run will not only be faster, but the overall smoothness makes it more entertaining to watch as well. The camera work is fine. Carrying that arguement any further would be pointless.

A very good question actually. I bet it would start a long, and ugly argument.
We can only hope this never comes up. There is a divide in the community, and the last page only goes to show that things get ugly, fast.

Nitsuja put it best I think. Honestly, I think it could be a good thing if someone downvoted and had a good reason; It might spark a good discussion as to what is wrong with the movie.

As much as a vocal few might dislike it, movies get obsoleted on time, not entertainment. Argueing over litle points in a movie as undeniably awsome as this one is moot, if it ends up faster, (and it will be, by 2 minutes at least) it will obsolete the current 120 star run. Rikku should not, and will not be held to the "entertainment" sacrifices in the previous version. That said, FODA makes a good point. If the cost is low enough, there is no reason not to fix the camera angle. As long as the cost is low enough. If its more then a second or two over the whole run, I would say its too much, but that is best left to the author.

I say go for it. I have rated a fairly large number of the movies here, and I can safely say that I stand by every rating I have ever put down. Another option would be to make them viewable only by the person who authored the movie, so that they at least know what people think of it. (Kinda defeats the purpose of the thread though, I think.)

Really good progress overall. One thing though-- is there a reason you didnt jump before the text started on the "stand atop the 4 pillars" star? (the one with the two sandstone hands) Even if it does help he difference will be small, but just wondering.
