I listen to basically anything...though I have been quite obsessed with this group called YMCK recently. www.ymck.net Check out their demos. 8bit greatness (and by saying that I mean genuine-sounding, very elaborate 8bit composition) topped with cute vocals. It's also good that they have the first album available in North America (not sure about Europe) and the second one coming soon also to NA.

I'd suggest the San Fransisco Rush series, getting all ...whatever-you-collected... but NONE of the three games emulates right in PJ64. ;_;
San Francisco Rush would make for very interesting TASes, especially compared to most racing games. With rerecording and frame advance, it's probably even possible to win every race while getting all the keys. The sequels have more things to collect and far more tracks, though, which could make TASes tedious to watch (even with all the shortcuts and, in Rush 2049, wing tricks).

Please, don't give up this run! I'm a huge fan of Metal Gear and would definetly like to see an speed run of this game. And this one looks like is going to be an awesome speed run! ;)

I can't seem to watch any .avi speed runs that have the h264 encoding. I have Quicktime 7.0.4, which should have that built-in, but it won't play the videos. How do I fix this?

Switch from uncompressed frames to a codec, and regulate (Not the right word, right?) the file size and quality that way.
I tried, with super shitty quality and no sound still was 50 mb.

I like the gens with video emulator, except the avi filesize. I use the gens_movie_9f file, and i want to record a time attack video. I can't record in .gmv format, because other people can't play the movie that way. When i "Start AVI Dump" and select some compression type, the filesize is 100~300 MB, what can i do about it? Is AVI dump actually the right way? (I just hope the topic is still alive) *EDIT* Why i am asking this is because the movie is only 50 seconds long.

I have been searching for the title of this game for over 5 years. I recently stumbled onto this site and was watching the game videos when I saw the screenshot for this game. I recognized it instantly, I used to play it many years ago when I was much younger. THANK YOU! *happy sigh*

A bit late but just on word or two. Just magnificient, really good job. SOE is one of my favourite videogames. Many reasons for this : because I bought this when the SNES began to deseapear because of the Playstation ; because my father bought me this game and it was very expensive... but I play all the time (until my SNES dies !!!) so I don't have any worries about this. Since I know a lot of this game, I was really amused by the way it took... I almost forgot the 8 by 1 formula tip... first boss goes very fast... and damned, the Atlus-glitch ! I remember, something like in 1999 I discovered the same with the defence, by chance too (get killed while this formula was on), and discovered that after I was nearly impossible to kill (all damage reduced to 1 or 0), but you can say I'm silly, I've never thought about using atlus ! So I did not understand why you killed yourself on the market, and then after, when you killed Spartak, whoo. OK, the games get easier, but some things that maybe viewers don't know, is that the dog is very heavy, very slow. For the people who don't know this game, just try to play once the dog, and you'll see that it's not piece of cake. So the thing that amazed me the most is the team work (using the dog to block an enemy that was hit, so that the player can hit again and again). And one more thing : I've never known the tip of the generators at the end, when you put the dog at the upper and right side of the last room... So to be short, I really liked this video. Maybe because SOE is one of my favourite game, but really impressed too.

NOW is'nt that a big laugh in my face!!!!!!!!! Jesus crimony! I am the original speed runner for super castlevania 4, my old site is here... http://paultwo.8k.com/castlevania4.html those were done on ZSNES, each movie file was done on a straight through run for each level (so i did'nt paste small segments together). Any way, i was bored the other day, so i decided to go back to my speed runs through castlevania 4, so yep, i was going to have it be tool-assisted so the whole thing is flawless (like yours, arghh). I finished the first level completely, and did it 3 seconds slower than yours, because i did'nt do that trick you did with going through the wall, HOW THE HELL did you find that out? I tried to see if i could do something similar to that for hours, but nothing came up LOL. After i finished the first level, i was thinking, hmm, i wonder if somebody else out there has done a speed run through this game since i was away from speed runnin this game, so to google i went, and i came here, downloaded the movie, then watched it, and... THAT WAS THE BIGGEST LAUGH IN MY FACE I EVER SEEN!!! LOL Obvioulsy, i would be wasting my damn time bothering to complete the rest of the levels, cause it's allready been freaken done!!!!!!! YOU GUYS STOLE MY SPEED RUNNIN GAME !!!!!!!!!!! HAAHHAHAHAAH I know this is 2 years old now, but my life goal was to do exactly what you guys did with this game. Even though i know you guys did a lot of rerecords, i know it's not easy to find the perfect routes through this game, cause i've been through the same thing myself. You gotta know when to get hit and when not to. I am pretty much aware of ALL the routes/patterns you guys did (except you guys did a few more things i never knew), i also know a couple things you guys dont know about. I may have to try and beat your time! I wont stop till i do.

I wanted to see if anyone did a speedrun for this game, but no one did. I never did a speedrun before, and gave it a spin. So far I did the first world and it went pretty nice in my own opinion. However, if someone would like to check it out and critize, it'd be nice. http://members.home.nl/grawl/dino.smv Some notes: * Getting hit actually speeds you up. * Most levels have two doors. The upper one is the "good" one, but will sometimes lead to bonus stages. Obviously I avoided this.

Hi there... I'm new here, and I always download those game runs. So one day, I was just playing MF, when I remembered that there's a secret message just in the part of the game that I was playing. So, I thought: "why not record that? Record the path to get there, and the message as well..." So that's what I did! But, after reading a lil more here... I noticed that to get my video posted here, I have to use a special version of the VBA... and record the movie file and not the AVI. And that's the problem! I just recorded it in AVI using the codec that this site uses... (h264 right?) The video shows, the start from the game... (loading the file and all...), starting from the closest save room (to the path of the secret message). And I doing the shinespark trick all, with no savestate... but looks like for me to prove that, I must record a movie file... and not just AVI right? So that's the problem number 1... The problem number 2 is that I don't have a ftp (server or whatever) to upload the archive (about 43,5 mbs). And that's that... What I do? Record again? There's already a file for that? Is my lil "vid-walktrough" a dumb?? later!

Hello, potential Gold runners! Although it isn't up at the main SDA site, I have completed a console run of Pokemon Gold at a total time of 4:15 that you can refer to. By SDA rules, the run ends after Red, explaining why the video takes so long. http://www.archive.org/details/PokemonGold_415 Improvements for TAS: -No unecessary trainer battles like the ones I got into a few times. -Manipulate luck during Red battle to freeze Venusaur first try. -Catch red Gyarados. -Obvious ones, such as manipulating luck to get Pokemon you want from grass, etc.

It's a very simple and straightforward game, but quite fun non the less. You are a ninja equipped with a shuriken, and you smack down weaker ninjas on your way to the boss on each level. Then you beat the boss and proceed to the next level. There are no special attacks, no special moves or anything, just you and your shuriken.
The part about no special attacks or moves is incorrect. You can get a wave attack, forcefield, and transform into a frog, an elephant or a bird. I doubt that it would be faster to use any of those, but they are in the game.

I've made this video available on youtube and google videos. Google video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6493722340610946105 youtube: http://youtube.com/watch.php?v=fJ7RfTl7jYc Sorry if I messed up with the credit giving... :-[
Any chance you could modify the video information on the google video link to point out that it's a emulator/tool assisted run, like you did on the youtube link? It'd reduce the amount of people thinking it's a non-tool assisted run. EDIT: oops :P Thanks for pointing that out, DeHackEd.

well atleast he was honest about it being possible to improve it, some posters claim they have done it perfectly and then someone comes along and makes another run being much faster sometimes to newly found bugs and somtimes as stated by a radical route change edit: woo my first step towards not being a lurker..

I remember seeing this video in lower resolution on ebaumsworld.com, although I'm skeptical about this one part on one of the boat levels, world 8, it may just be my video player, but there are some stray wrenches that should have hurt mario that for some reason went straight through him. I'm not saying that I'm not impressed, I saw the japanese version of this and I was blown away. Can someone clarify if it's just my player or if that is supposed to happen and it's an emulator glitch from the origianal computer's end.

Does anyone here, besides me, know about the trick to skipping the Joker's henchmen and going straight to him at the end of 5-1? Maybe you can incoporate that trick in the time attack. It would lower the time for sure!
