I first loaded a ROM, then Movie play became available. So I laoded an .smv file (The Illusuions of Gaia one from the site) and the screen briefly says "Movie Replay", then just return to a black screen... am I doing something wrong?

I just got Snes9x v1.43 for Windows, but I do not know how to play replays (as in .smv files) of games on the site. Under file, there is an option for Movie play... but it is greyed out. How do you play replays that have been downloaded? Thanks.

Not sure if this is well known or very useful but thought I'd share this alternate version of the infamous JUSTIN BAILEY code. type in JUSTIN BAILEY ------- (press start) just 6 dashes and press start. don't put spaces after the dashes or press backspace at all or this will not work. you should start off in kraid's stage with four energy takes, missles, no suit, and A FREEZING WAVE BEAM. i found this code by accident back when i was a kid but never did anything about it. hope someone will enjoy this as much as i did.

I recently beat the game, and for the levels, here's a few hints. Beat Las Vegas as soon as possible, for once you do, you get a plane that lets you skip over levels. Defeat all the necessary bosses for plot points till you hear about red skull. Now this is the part that im pretty sure about but not 100% certain. I know it worked to do it this way but im not sure you have to go to this town but if you go to the top right corner town, then back down to houston it works. You might be able to go straight to houston, but i think you actually pick up the rocket ship in that town. Once you beat houston you will take the rocket ship to the space base of red skull. Beat him, and your done.

In the searching I did after making this post, I couldn't find the exact ROM listed (I found a (JUE) but no [W] ! version). Any guess as to whether the .gmv will play properly?

Hey guys, I just watched a few NES movies for the first time and it amazes me how fast some games can get finished. However, what I found most amazing is how luck is manipulated and apparent random events are being controlled. (I understand that the game doesn't produe totally random numbers but pseudo random numbers.) Can someone explain to me, in general, how this is done? For example, I watched the speed run of the rpg Dragon Warrior 1 on NES. In this movie, the player is able to walk throughout the recording avoiding random encounters and fighting the exact enemies he wants, when he wants. Furthermore, he can control critical hits, spell success rates, etc. So, are there tools/techniques that help in determining, as in the above example, which path to walk to avoid monsters totally? I find it hard to believe that it is all done by trial and error. Can someone give me an overview of how its done or point me to some texts I can read on the subject? Thanks a lot :) -Flack

Hi. New here. (Let me try to ask this in a way that does NOT constitute a ROM request...) Is it necessary to somehow hack together the two constituent ROMs of this game?

I have started trying to time attack two games, G.I. Joe and Transformers and have learned that i have no skill for such a thing, and i know these games could be done, and im wondering if anyone would be willing to pick them up. Transformers is an extremely fast game with one hit kills, so it would definately keep the viewers entertained, it's just i keep messing up with routes and can't play at slow speeds, i just can't do it. So if anyone has any suggestions or is willing to help please respond. G.I. Joe is similar to Teenage mutant ninja turtles one, in that you have 3 guys with 3 life bars and a set of stats. It is a game that seems interesting enough to me at least and would be fun to watch someone time attack. Thanks.

you could always use a stop-motion camera (one of those thingies that saves a frame every minute or so)

If you wanna go for impressiveness theres a couple things I can think of. Make a 100% archer class party (or gunner) and get one to use the combo. Since they're all in range they all combo the same guy. Not sure if it works but it'd be cool. Also, you can have morphers do HUGE damage by catching a flan and feeding it curealls untill its MATK is 999. Then you take out a handy morpher and kill anyone you wish with a 999 MATK -aga spell. You can also add MP turbo to this and simply flatten anything (even the last boss) you could also beat the game using only marche. Beat hard bosses without taking a turn (return magic, counter) with luck manipulation you can do so many crazy things with this game. for really fast speed you could use an ilusionist spell to hurt everything then use capture (very short animation) to ohko them a movie of this game would be crazy

Hi, I need some help getting the m64 file to playback in mupen... First of, the playback says it needs a rec file, not a m64 file, when I try to load the file as a rec, it says "couldn't start playback", and that's it, no logs no nothing else... When I change the file to a m64, it says 'the wrong save...' it's cut off soon after. I'm using Mupen 0.5.1 for XP. Thanks for any help.

I found this site not too long ago and ALL of the videos I have seen are very impressive. Coming to the boards I see a different story. This whole rejected, approved, message board critiquing by the site owner/friends of is retarded. I thought this legendary wings video was excellent. It's sad that many dont think so. THe guy that created it obviously spent a while on it and it is great. anyone who cares that much about perfection needs a life. its a cool video. accept it. oh well, done with this site and on with my life. 5 minutes here is too much. im bored already

I was under the impression that the random seed resets at the start of every level. Doesn't that have to do with how the World X-X screen rounds up to 21 frames every time?

I did a search for this and nothing came up. I was wondering, is it possible to collect 100 coins in Minus World before the timer runs out? Because if so, you could just make a movie that loops forever. Record one run through getting hit to lose your mushroom (assuming you got big to get there), record one run through small, then use a hex editor to repeat that run until the timer runs out. Then repeat the small run until the timer runs out again, and you have a repeatable chunk that you can tack onto the file as many times as you want. I'm pretty sure it's possible too, since there are 28 coins in one run, and I'm sure you can pull off a run in 100 timer ticks. Should I try it? Does anyone else think this would be kindof neat?

A friend of mine whom I introduced to timeattacks requested from me a Kickle Cubicle timeattack. I'm currently working on a first draft; I'll share if anyone is interested in seeing what I have so far. I'm working in VirtuaNES (probably an older version, though it was the latest when I first downloaded it). Would anyone else be interested in seeing a timeattack for this game? As there are no readily exploitable glitches (that I know about), I will have to turn to other methods, like pixel-perfect optimization, to make it more than just a how-to-beat-these-100-or-so-levels. It would be the first timeattack I've ever created, despite my long-time enjoyment of those produced by the masters here. [EDIT by Bisqwit: Merged into existing thread. Please learn to use Search!]
