i'm pretty new here, i really enjoy the movies. and upon watching the gradius movies i remembered playing (and beating) star fox 64 so many times. i think a timeattack on it might be possible, but maybe not as most of the level scroll themselves so cutting down the time would rely mostly on the objective based levels and the boss battles. my personal best i believe is that i beat the game on hard in under 30 minutes, i think i beat the last boss in around 20 seconds flat. but i didn't have the technology at the time to record it. just thought i'd throw the idea out there.

Where can I find the fastest strategies to beat the characters? I will prefer if they are no-glitch strategies (no pause glitch). Thanks.

I dunno, I've beat PS3 repeatedly, on the longest path. Joyfully, no less. My favourite of the series. :P

I dunno, I really didn't like The Silver Star, and thought Silver Star Story was a lot better. I do like Eternal Blue better than Eternal Blue Remix, though. ... as long as, in both cases for the latter game, you just forget about the epilogue. Hated the storyline of the epilogue. But the SCD Silver Star is a lot shorter than anything else in the main series, if I remember rightly.

I've played through this game about 3 or 4 times and I have it almost all mastered. The best thing that you can do is get the Cinqueda weapon which allows you to learn Steal Ability. Plus you can get it VERY early in the game and make the game a lot easier. The method is found in the Stealing guide FAQ here. Getting a Nu Mou with Black Mage & Sage Jobs and Turbo MP is a good idea too. A Moogle with Gun & Stunt Jobs makes this go smoother and more your way. If you can manipulate the Gadgeteer ability to do what you want, using the Black Ingot & Chroma Gem attacks work best of that job. Finaly a Bangaa with Dragoon & Templar or Gladiator Jobs with Bonecrusher is great for powerful range attacks with a lance. Doing the Main Quests and nothing else with a little luck manipulation should allow you to beat the game in about 2-3 hours. The time waster is the storyline, as it takes up a LOT of time at some points. A way to save time is either keep Montablac in Jail or kill him in any of the Lawless zones. Just adding my thoughts

Nothing but 500 Errors at the filespace website, both for the rar file, and blips webpage, so I ask if anyone has a mirror of the 98.12-blip.src.rar file. Need it to compile under Linux. Thanks.

I've started a 3rd revision of this game. Up to the defeat of Punchinello it's 6 minutes 51 seconds faster than the published run. no Shyster fights in Mushroom Kingdom - Mario runs straight to Mack with no diversions bought the Power Blast in Tadpole pond for faster boss fights skipped two Wigglers (you know for the Frog Coins) in the Forest Maze never bought any armor or weapons except at Moleville I'm skipping Culex and the Lazy Shells which will probably save over 10 minutes total. smrpg_new.zip
Almost 7 minutes of improvement?? You´re nuts! So is this your 100% run or the fastest run?
I'd say it would be his fastest since he states he will be skipping Culex and ect. :p

Hey, walkerboh, that was a great speed run, I've always loved faxanadu. I am going to start working on a speed run on the nes, not using death as a shortcut. You obviously have lots of knowledge about the game, what do you think a speed run on the nes without using death as a shortcut would time out at, approximately? I just wanna know to gauge my progress on the speed run. I'm sure I'll have to be under an hour, I'm gonna aim for 45 minutes and see what happens. I will be watching your speed run a couple of more times to help with some of my strategy.

Yes vote from me. I've watched every WIP leading up to the release and have been thoroughly impressed by the play displayed here. It's been quite a wait ;o GJ, however.

I'm having the same problem that Leviticus is. I downloaded version 0.98.12 of FCE and loaded my ROM (zelda 2 in this case). When I go to file, these are the options: Open Close Recent Recent Directories Load State From Save State As Log Sound As Exit I tried to load my .fcm in 'Load State From', but its not happy with that at all. I'm assuming from the post that I need a patch for my player. I tried to follow the link for the 'patched fceu' from Tafatt. I tried in IE, firefox, Opera, Safari, and MyIE2. I tried these You can obtain it here: (ext) http://www.filespace.org/blip/fceu-0.98.12-blip.win.rar or the left+right version (ext) http://fast.filespace.org/Phil._Cote/fceu-left+right.zip Both have the same result in all the browsers, the page cannot be displayed. It appears I'm almost there, I just can't get that last step done. Does anyone have any suggestions, either that or a link that works?

Hello, In this video, they abuse the main character as a critical hit for the boss. How exactly is this accomplished? What's going on here? Thanks!

Well, WMV and Winamp aren't free and open source. Or nearly as slick as this is. No it does not take all the bandwidth of whoever is hosting it. At least it doesn't for me.

Yes vote from me, the movie looked entertaining. It was cool how most (?) of the bosses got sliced in half from the zsabre after they were defeated. What'd you do near the last stages of the game when Zero went from red to blue? Just purchase powerups? Overall good run.

I didn't see any topics about it, so forgive me if this is old news here. The peoples at participatory culture just released the first beta of their internet TV platform. It uses Bittorrent and RSS to send the video to a nice looking app, further smoothing out the process of sending video online. I propose we set up an Nesvideo channel. Bisquit already uses BT and RSS, so why not? http://www.participatoryculture.org/bm/ is the program that actually creates the channel, and http://participatoryculture.org/download.php is the app itself. It's mac only at the moment, but windows and linux versions are coming soon. - Phil

I noticed through most of the Super Mario that he was always flying because of picking up the wings. Do you reckon it would be possible to do it very quick without the wings?

TNSe, thank you kindly for the reply. That is very interesting. SMW is probably my favorite video game of all time. It's very cool to see these amazing speedruns. :)

I saw Viper's speedrun of SMW, it was posted as an avi at a torrent site, the file is named "supermarioworld-timeattack-star96-viper7.avi" I'm completely new to this endeavor of speeding through the game like he has, and forgive me for asking this question, but in the video, this is all legitimate gameplay? (ie. no cheats or hacks or alterations of the original game?). In other words, theoretically these moves are possible and this type of game play is possible on the original console? I am blown away at the precision in which Viper can control mario (like in the final Bowser battle). Amazing. smoogiecat
